PPF Long Week

Hi Everyone!

It has been a long week for me. A lot going on including a big sale on my beadwright.com.
I am also not happy with my performance with the watercolor class and it will be the last one I take. I am just not good at it. LOL So to say the least I have not had time to create for PPF until today. I have a friend that wants to buy some art. She explained to me what she wanted and so I came up with this.  The photo shows it blue it is really more black. The cut leather pieces have good texture to them as do the metal pieces. I am so happy she likes them. These were very fun to create and gives me ideas for larger pieces. So that is my story. How was your week?

PPF Why Pours May Not Last

Hi Everyone!

Today I have quick draw art. I was very busy this week. Part of the busy was having so much fun on Tuesday being a model for a group of artists. I made my pose, found a focal point at the back of the room and was set. They played music and that was a plus. The artists were amazing. It is different when you see yourself in the eye of an artist and I had 7 to look at. I would definitely do it again.

This is a 5 minute sketch over a background I already had. I will go back in and make it better.

I just had a bit of time the other morning before leaving my house and got this 30 minutes sketch.

Watercolor class using Gouache. I like this paint better.

A few weeks ago I created these two pours. I liked them especially because they are brown. However, I didn't have any specific "thing" for them. I was just messin' around. Since it was mess around art I decided to reuse the canvas. I put them in the sink to wash off the paint. When I do this I never get all the paint off, and have to paint the canvas white or black. To my surprise the paint pulled off in a skin and had not penetrated the canvas at all. Now, maybe all of you know this already but this tells me that pours may not last long on a canvas, even if they are sealed. So I did some research and yep I was right. When you add silicon to your acrylics it never dries. This is just one of the articles I found

Here I am easily pulling the paint off the canvas

When I was done I have a perfectly clean and ready to use canvas.

Workng with Gouache

Hi Everyone!

This class on watercolors can not get over fast enough. 😬 I do believe, learn all that you can but do what you love.  I am learning a lot in the class and am having fun. Mostly laughing at my many pieces that I don't share on line. Sometimes you create many to get one you like. This one I do like. More my style and painted with Gouache. I do like the Gouache paint better.  Create with passion and have a great day today.

Watercolor PPF

Hi Everyone!

Wow what a week! Watercolor class and art history class. I love the history. Not so much on the watercolor. I just can't get the hang of moving the color properly. I know I know, it is all about the practice. I like using the paint more on the dry side and on canvas. I feel more comfortable with that.
Today our temps got up to 85° OMG!!!! that is unheard of here. Yesterday it was 50° I am loving this warm sun. I can't go out in it without a UV mask on but that's OK. That warm feels sooo good.
So here is what I worked on this week. Don't be too hard me. LOL

Now I do like this one. It was with dryer paint on paper.

Ehhh wet on wet. Not so happy with this one.

I also like this one. Dry paint on canvas. Easy subject.

We could add one texture to this page I made rake lines. Then, I found myself under the sea.

This is another one I like. Trying to control paint.
 Another page of controlling paint.

Linking up with Paint Party Friday. Looking forward to seeing what all of you have created this week.

Hi Everyone!

My new watercolor classes are just amazing. I am thrilled with the freedom that the teacher has said was OK. LOL
Being more of an abstract artist I am loving how this class is going. Also today our class was about how the paint moves.
It took a few tries to get something
I like so here it is.
P.S. water color is still difficult but get easier.

Hi Everyone,

Yesterday I had a painting pour idea in my head. So I tried it. I love this way it turned out. If you look around brown is not a color that gets much attention as a focal color. I love all shades of brown, from the dark rich brown to the light creamy brown. Pours are so easy to bring color to attention.

These are not quite finished but the browns are amazing.

What inspires you?

Hi Everyone!

The other day I was asked, "what inspires you?" I really don't like answering that question because the inspiration changes all the time. I think because where ever I am I "see" things that invoke an emotion and that inspires me to create. I am not one of those artist that keeps a sketch book, or writes my ideas down. The art just comes when I am ready to paint, draw, sculpt leather, or bead. I love the quote by Thomas Merton,  "Art allows us to lose ourselves and find ourselves at the same time." That is how I feel, and when I step back to see what I have created I am always pleasantly surprised. You must love your own art. So how are you inspired?
Art for today.

Hi Everyone!

Here is a piece of beading I have been working on. For  25 years I have been showing people how to build layers and height to their beading. I have a free tutorial here
This is a link at the top of this blog. Enjoy and I hope you like and use it.
