BAT ME AROUND?

Hi Everyone!
It is Monday already and I have tons to do today. You know, the fun stuff like going to the post office and grocery store. I should put some gas in my car too. The one great thing about Oregon is that it is against the law to fill your own tank. I love that!!! I just hand the attendant my card and he/she fills my car. It throws me a bit when I am in a different state and have to do it myself. LOL Anyway that is part of my day.
I wanted to share with you one of my finished patterns. Bat Me Around is the appropriate name for this cuff.
You can purchase the pattern in my Beadwright Bead Coop and make it yourself or you can have it ready made in my Beadwright Etsy store.
Wishing all of you a great day.

Love this guy

FACES FINALLY FINISHED

Hi Everyone!

Thanks for all the well wishes for my mom. She seems to be doing better. Extremely tired and achy but with the meds none of the icky part of the flu.

This is a good day for the 3 Fs, Faces Finally Finished. I had these faces carved, plastered, leathered and waiting for me to finishes them for months now. Last week I decided enough was enough and everything sitting on my work table that needs to be completed is getting completed. Here are the two faces.

Both so different
Coil Me Up is a face covered in Pig hide. Very soft and the color is amazing.
I couldn't resist the copper wire.

African Queen is just that she is so elegant. The leather is deer suede dies purple.
The jewelry is a part of a very large front and back necklace I created in 1987. I works perfectly here.
The head piece is African Porcupine Quill died purple with Saddle Natural Furnace Roaster Feathers.

Both pieces were air brushed to lighten and heighten the leather folds.
For any one who has been to my  house they know I have faces covering my walls in every room especially my living room.

WINNER FOR SENSATIONAL BEAD EMBROIDERY

Hi Everyone!
I love giving things away! So when I knew I was going to be able to share the books that I am reviewing for Lark Books made it all the more worth while. This is the first of many books that I will be giving away courtesy of Lark Crafts an Imprint of Sterling Publishing Co. I have also set up a page on my website that will house all of the reviews. http://nicolecampanella.com/  I want to thank all of you who participated in the first giveaway. It does not surprise me at how many of you wanted this book. However, there can only be one winner. I do it the old fashion way. One of my many hats with each name printed and on a piece of paper and neatly folded. Mike gets the honor of actually drawing the name.  When Mike's hand came out of the pile of names he had............. are you ready?  Debbie Peterson  of http://beachbabybaubles.blogspot.com/  She actually started a blog to enter into this contest and lives right here in Florence!!! I could hardly believe it. Congratulations Debbie!!!

I do want to apologize for no photos of the actual draw. My mom is ill and I have to leave for S. OR. right now. Please send healing energy. Mom is 81.
See ya when I return.

SUN BOATS AND FUN

Hi Everyone!
I have been soooo busy and full of energy with all this sunshine. So last weekend Mike and I took a day and drove up coast and then inland to the town of Toledo, OR. We actually spend a lot of time there. The town's people have some sort of activity going on every weekend during the summer. This weekend was a wood boat show. The day there was hot hot hot and more hot. I loved every minuted of it, even if lupus didn't. For a small show it was pretty nice. We had a great time.
Here are a few photos

BUSY BEADING AND TEACHING

Hi Everyone!
I can't believe that so many days have passed by. I have been mega busy with beading and teaching. I am also in the middle of beading a project for Bead Unique Magazine. No no no I am not going to tell or show you what. You will have to wait on that one. But let me tell you it is sooooo cool.
In the mean time one of my peyote patterns I sell is "Pot Me Up" Cannabis leaves set to beads. One of my customers asked if I could just make the bracelet up for her. No problem. I love the way this pattern works up.

I also finished a chain necklace. I love the two tone and it hangs so very well.
What have you been up to?

LOOM BEADING

Hi Everyone!
Yes I am up late finishing up some orders while watching the cooking show "Chopped"
This show makes me so nervous. LOL
You have heard me say time and time again that I have no light in my  house for taking photos. Well if you have no light then take photos in the dark. This is something I have been playing with
and I think I have it down.
This is one of the patterns that is in my loom book, "My Favorite Loom Book" you can also purchase this pattern in my Beadwright Bead Coop. But why do that when you can just buy the finished piece. :) I love the soft colors of the Lines Thru Circles. Backed with soft leather, of course, and a snap clasp for easy closure.
If you like it you can get it in my Beadwright etsy store.

IT'S ALL ABOUT THE SHINE

Hi Everyone!
Today was run around trying to get some banking errors fixed and the dreaded grocery shopping. Both are at the bottom of any of my lists. LOL But it is done! I finally had time to finish a necklace that has been on my table for awhile. My very good friend, Lori Cook from Outoftheflames, sent me three piece of incredible dichroic glass in blues. They obviously came from the same batch because they lined up perfectly. I loved that. Using glass adhesive I glued them together following the lines. Perfect! I used my layered flatwork technique on Nicole's BeadBacking and then backed it with blue leather. All the beads are silver lined or color lined and the shine on this piece will blind you. I mean can you say "BLING" Herringbone and peyote stitches are used for the bail and the strap. It fits perfectly on the neck and the tree branch dangles fools the eye for symmetry. Now here is the catch, you may have noticed that I don't create many things with blue. I like blue, it attracts me, but I have a very difficult time working with it. I think because blue "floats" The color draws the eye upward. The next time you are in an art gallery be aware of how your eyes move across paintings, the blues always lift and carry away. With that said here is my Shinny Blue. Hope you enjoy it.

THE POWER OF RIVOLIS

Hi Everyone!
I just had to share this with you. Swarovski Rivolis how can any beader pass them up right? So my work table sits in front of my front window. The sun finally came out today at 3:45 pm. I was talking to my niece on the phone when I noticed my ceiling was full of colorful circle lights. It looks so cool. I couldn't figure out where they were coming from and then Mike pointed to the 4 Rivolis sitting on my table. Ahhh the power of Rivolis to bring joy in so many different ways.

IT'S ALL ABOUT FAMILY

Hi Everyone!

It is the weekend and I am beading today. We headed to Winchester bay yesterday and found some great places to launch the dingy. There was a huge and very well organized Dune Fest going on. If you are into dune buggies and quads you need to come here next year for it.
I am so fortunate to have close to a thousand old photos of my mom's side of the family even some old tins. I guess because it would have been my sister's birthday yesterday I am feeling a bit nostalgic. Here are some old photos of my family.

My great grandmother Sadi and great grandfather Thomas my grandmother the little one and her sister. Thomas was a surveyor for the US Government and they traveled all over the country.

My grandfather Al and his brother. Al is the  little guy with the very stylish hat. Love it!
This is Al standing by his car and my grandmother is sitting inside. I love the way people dressed in those days. With pride.

Here is my grandmother on her wedding day
So there are a few photos of my family past.

MOBY DICK???

Hi Everyone!
For those of you who know me.... know that I love watching movies. It stems from when I was little and my dad delivered films to the drive-ins. OK OK so some of you may not even know what a drive-in is. The best times ever parking your car out doors in front of a huge screen to watch movies. Plus my parent's best friends owned (what we back then called) a walk-in. That is a cinema now days.  So we were privy to movies before the general public.  When I heard that Moby Dick was going to be televised on a prime channel I thought, "Fantastic!" With all of the technology and movie know how this will be a great version of a classic. Mike and I got settled in with a bowl of popcorn and waited. And waited and waited and waited. I honestly can say that this movie is one of my most disappointments in moves ever!!!!! From the spotless clean costumes to the boring conversations that made no sense, to the whaling and  OMG the white whale. With actors like Eathan Hawk, John Hurt, and the two lines that Donald Sutherland had this should have been a movie to remember.... Oh I mean in a good way.

Huge Thumbs down on this version of Moby Dick
