After the rain ( ohhh I mean down poor from the evil rain gods) the sun is actually out. OMG!!! Sun!!! It is by no mean warm but at least there are blue skies. That just make me so happy. LOL

I hope that all of you had a wonderful Thanksgiving. That you had family and friends around and that there was lots of love and laughter. We had one of the best Thanksgiving in quite a long time. I am so blessed for that.

LEARING RAW BEST BOOK

Hi Everyone!

I receive many emails during the week from beaders who just can't "see" what they are doing with Right Angle Weave "RAW" and ask for my help. I am one of these instructors that literally shows not only each step by step but needle, thread, and hand placement. Sometimes books just leave that part out. Until now. Mabeline Gidez has written a truly great book on RAW. She even notes that when she was trying to learn this beading technique she found herself lost in the instructions. Her book entitled

"I CAN right angle weave" is the book that you need if you have had trouble with this stitch. Beautifully photographed, the text is very well written, but most importantly the graphics show you where your needle and thread need to be to start the next section. The other thing I like about this book is that Mabeline starts the projects off simple but elegant. The first projects will elevate you into the more advanced pieces she has laid out. I highly recommend this book to any beader who enjoys RAW or is just starting out with this versatile beading stitch.

WANT TO SEE SOME BEAUTY?

Hi Everyone!

This will be a buy day since yesterday was a holiday. The main thing is going grocery shopping. Uhhhhggg I just hate it. The one thing that I wish I had a cook/maid in my house. Someone to figure out what to buy, then buy the food, put the food away, prepare the food for meals, and then do the dishes. Yeahhhh that would be really nice! LOL So on dark, grey, raining days like this and the thought of going grocery shopping I need something to brighten the day. How about this? Take 2 minutes to see some beauty.

VETERANS DAY HONOR OUR TROOPS

Hi Everyone!

 

Today is Veterans.  The day we honor and give thanks to the men and women who gave of themselves so selflessly.  I come from a military family. My research goes back to the Civil war and I even have some of my families war uniforms. WWI and WWII I had family fighting. The Korean war and of course Viet Nam. My brothers and cousins all went in to fight there. My son served in Desert Storm and now my Son-in-law Dax is a Staff Sergeant in the US Marines. My Granddaughter also serves in the Air National Guard.  Remember that the men and women who served and still serve today do the job with pride and honor. We should at least give that back to them.

 

Thank you to all the men, women and their families for serving us.

CAN SOME ONE PLEASE HELP ME

Hi Everyone,

 

For the last year or longer, since blogger has been messing with blogger. Getting it all switched over to this new interface, (which I dislike very much) I have not been able to see the blogs that I am following. You know in the old blogger they were right there on the dashboard. I have tired to find a fix, looked through every help (ha ha ha) article blogger has, have written to blogger, have changed browsers and well I still don't have a reading list of the blogs I follow. Does any one out there know how to fix this? Please email me.

Hi Everyone!

 

It has been a crazy week and it is only Thursday. More doctor's apt for the new found residences on my brain. They are like bad renters who won't pay then rent and won't move out. LOL Hey if I don't joke about it I will break down and cry and well there has been enough of that.

 

I did receive a very nice surprise of an instructional article of mine published in Bead Design Studio this month.  This is actually a pretty old piece from a bead challenge held by Pam the editor of then, Bead Unique, and Joanna her assistant. I still like this simple style.  Just throw on a pair of jeans, an everyday shirt, this necklace and your are ready to go!

METALWORKING 101 for Beaders

It is November 1, 2012! I can't believe this year is almost over. I have several books from Lark that need to be reviewed so lets get this month started with Candy Cooper's new book.

This new book entitled "Metalworking 101 for Beaders" by Candie Cooper, is pure delight. If you are a beader that wants to expand your creations to include metalworking then this is definitely the book  you want. Candie takes you step by step with text, photos, and graphs to show you just how to use the proper tools to accomplish the desired appearance. I am very impressed with this book and the projects presented. This is not just a beginners how-to book. Some of the projects are advanced and will give the metalworker some great insights on this craft. You will learn to make full projects as well as your own findings. That is a plus for any jewelry maker. Candie has not left out the beads either. She shows you how to incorporate these two crafts perfectly. This is a fantastic book that you should have in your library.
