Weekend Post

Greetings!

The other day Mr. M. was out back, after a few minutes he opened the door and called out my name and to come see the birds. Now a few days earlier he told me that on his way home from the store he saw hundreds of Ravens circling the river. So when he called to me that is what I was expecting.
OMG!!!!!! There were hundreds and hundreds of Ravens flying over head in circles, landing in trees then flying again. They were so loud that Mr. M. and I had to shout when we spoke. I tried to get the movie part of my camera to work but no luck. So I just started shooting. I had my camera looking straight up at the birds when Mr. M. yelled, " You better not take photos like that those birds are going to shit on you." Ohhh duhhhh. I move from that position. LOL No I did not get pooped on. However, I hear that is good luck. ha ha ha. The Ravens were out there for about 30 minutes, then flew off. It was a pretty amazing sight.

Gourd Face Part 2

Greetings!

Today I'm showing part 2 of how my gourd face has progressed. Like some of you, I am an intuitive artist. I have an idea of what I want, and start in. As I work that original idea may change several times. I also get so into what I am doing that I forget to take photos. I tried and I think I did pretty well with that. You can see part 1 here.
I have been working on the paper mache face. If you read  part 1 I made two, one with clay, one paper mache. The PM got clay too and a grout/plaster of paris.

Eyes are in. Now drilling for the nose.

Nose armature. There are many ways to achieve this. It's just how I do it.

Add PM to hold in place.

Start putting in PM and shaping the nose

Nose is shaped and the mouth is in.

Normally I would make a PM past but I just didn't want to. It is an ordeal. So, to the clay.

The mouth is also covered.

At this point the head is heavy. I use whatever is in my art room to balance it. Once the clay dries it will sit straight.

This was going to be a cutesy face when I started, then I decided to make something dark for Rain's TAD. You all know I love dark.

This is a mixture of Plaster of Paris and tile grout. It is easy to make but one must work quickly.

Today I will sand, do more shaping and then airbrush paint and embellish this gourdy guy.

T stands for snow yikes!

Greeting!
I have lived here in Florence for 15 years. Coming from N. Idaho and snow that would sometimes last until June, I was happy to get to sea level with NO snow. The first year we lived here we got snow that lasted several days. One other time we got a skiff of snow and the last few days the snow gods have tried to shed some snow down on us. I think today it just might happen.  This was the other night. I know this is nothing but for where I live it kinda is.
And it's flippen cold. giggle

I grabbed a piece of PC paper and pencil so I could draw while waiting for Mr. M. at the doctors. (Yeah, I have to wait in the cold car ha ha ha) The face was etched in my brain from one of my favorite blogs FitStuds
Uhhh, if any of you want a good jolt to start your day check it out. Anyway, here is the face. I need to redraw him while I am actually looking at his face and on good paper. However, it is my art for the day.

Now to get into the T-Party to day is my snack for yesterday.
Hot water and apples.
Sounds terrible but is actually very good. Joining in with Elizabeth and Bleubeard with the rest of the T-Gang. Come see what everyone is doing.

Monday Movies

Greetings!

The last few days I have been fighting with lupus. There is no rhyme or reason for flares, something tilts in my immune system and lupus grabs hold. I have not lost a battle yet with it so I am hoping this pain will end soon. Moving around and keeping busy helps. Right now though I want to get my Monday Movie post out.
I have two movies for you this week.
I really thought I had seen all of Anne Heche's movies. However, I found this one and loved it. "The Vanished" is directed by Peter Facinelli and starts Anne Heche and Thomas Jane.  This is NOT a horror movie. It's about a couple that is looking for their daughter with a great ending twist. I give it a thumbs up. I watched it on Netflix

The second movie, I am watching right now. It's called "Cold Skin" About sea creatures that are almost human. Takes place in 1914 at a light house. A great story line and wonderful make up design. It is considered a mystery horror but more mystery than horror.
I'm watching this one on Amazon Prime, and Vudu is listed for free as well.

Hope you give these a try and enjoy them.

Paint Party Friday 1/22

Greetings!

Here it is Paint Party Friday and I actually have a new painting. Something clicked today and I actually got my started projects working. I'll show those later on, for PPF. I have an acrylic abstract that was fun to create.
If you know me at all I hate to waste anything, most of all paint. So, left over from the pallet,
painting only with my fingers.
I call this
"Joy"
I don't manipulate the colors of my photos. I do crop and size but the colors I leave. For some reason the blues really shot forward when in reality there is a lot of rich browns in the photo. It is however, dark and over cast and not much good light for photos in my house. Still, I created this with happiness.
Come see what all of the other artists have created at
Also joining in at Off the Wall Friday

Veggie Burger Recipe

Greetings!

I don't know how I forgot to put the recipe of the Veggie Burgers on that previous post but here it is now.  OK, most of you know I don't measure. I just make things by eye and feel. I will try to get measurements for you.
As I said before I change it up with
what I have in my veggie bin.
You will need;
raw veggies, such as carrots, celery, broccoli, cauliflower, bell pepper, onion and garlic.
1 can of black beans and 1 can of chip peas. You can use any kind of bean that you like.
1 or 2 eggs, bread crumbs, seasonings of your choice.
Chop the veggies very small in a blender or by hand if you are that good. giggle. Some recipes say to saute these and then set aside. I don't, but you do have that option. Take the beans drain and rinse. I mash them up, especially the chick peas. Put it all in a bowl and then add your seasonings. I like garlic salt, cumin, chili powders. But again use what you like. Once in the bowl add 1 egg and enough bread crumbs to thicken it up to form patties. I make my own bread crumbs from old bread.  For me I make thinner patties so the inside will cook thoroughly. I brown them in a pan on the stove then pop them in the oven at 350° for about 12 minutes.  Other items I add are left over rice or quinoa.
How I use my veggie meat.
Burgers of course.

A patty with potatoes and avocado

And tonight I am making taco dinner and my tacos will be made with veggie meat. OMG so good.
Let me know if you make these and how you like them.

It's a GREAT day in America!

T Stande for Veggie Burgers

Greetings!

Today is T for Tuesday over at Bleubeard and Elizabeth's. So click on the link to see what the T-Gang is up to.

For me I have been working around the yard getting the garden equipment to the side of the house and clearing off the deck for the roofers. I also planted more jugs of my winter sowing. Each jug holds 4 plants so my garden will be bigger than last your but put together differently for ease of my back. No, I don't have an out building to store everything, maybe this summer I will be able to build something. Yes, I build. Something to look forward to.

This past weekend I wanted some of my home made veggie burgers. They are so darn good and easy to make. They change with what veggies I have in the fridge, but I always use Chick Peas and Black beans. Yes, I was drinking a beer when I pulled these out of the oven.
I did move it away from the hot tray. LOL
And here is the treat when they are done.

Ohh and a note for Elizabeth and any one else who wants to watch. Monday Movie, "Backtrack" can be watched for free on Tubi

That is it for me today.
Have a great day.

Monday Movie

Greetings!

Sunday and it is a beautiful day. I mean like summer beautiful. The weather is just crazy these days.
We are getting a new roof on our house and the roofers may be here next month. So part of my day was cleaning off my garden things to the back side of the house. I need to have my deck cleared off. With my back acting up I am doing just a few things a day. I do tend to over do it.
In my brain I am still 30. LOL

So, I was looking for a good movie and came across one of my old time faves. It's call "Backtrack" with a full cast of stars. Directed by Dennis Hopper and starring Jodi Foster, Hopper, Fred Ward and, Vincent Price with cameo appearances  by several notable actors, including Charlie Sheen, Joe Pesci, Catherin Keener and John Turturro to name just a few.  The film was disowned by Hopper before release and he is therefore credited under the pseudonym Alan Smithee. By the way that name is always used when the director of movie bugs out. It was filmed in 1989 and a directors cut in 1990. As far as I am concerned you can't go wrong with Jodie Foster. Dennis Hopper plays his part with excellence.  Yeahhhh I like this movie.
You can watch it on Amazon Prime for free. Here is a trailer.

TAD With Rain Birds and Sky& PPF

 Greetings!

I can't believe it is time for Thursday Art Date over at Rain's.
This week flew by. With the storm my back fence broke. We were luckier than some in town though. My repair man will be here tomorrow or the next day to fix it.
Today Mr. M. and I got a new bed delivered. I know once we get use to the mattress our backs will feel better.  I have 3 art projects going and all are only partially finished. With that I will get to the birds and sky. Of course why would I have new art to show. My life just seems so busy and I am afraid that art gets  put on the back burner. Oh and google has my text all over the place.

Part of my Black to White Series

You know how I love abstract.

some of my weird car art.

Older art. I can't remember when I did this. A few years back

This was on a greeting cards I made with beadwork. We are talking 1990's

I call this my crazy eye bird.

One of my very early paintings.

This is the "Eye of the Raven"

Negative space art

Almost all of these paintings have been sold especially the abstract birds.

Some of these I have forgotten about.

This is a piece of Raven art. She used to sit in my front window.

Last but not least one of my beaded raven patterns that hangs on my art room door.

Well I think that is a good selection and fits the theme. Head over to Rain's to see what all the other artists have created.
Also linking up with PPF
