METAL CLAY FUSION REVIEW

Hi Everyone!
Today I received another of Larks Master books. I have to say that this is the most impressive book that I have read in a very long time. Metal Clay Fusion by Gordon K. Uyehara captures his audience from the first page. I found a connection to what Gordon writes in part of his intro; "I always design first, so you may notice that none of the projects are conceived around a technique. Rather, the techniques are provided to fulfil a design goal." It is exactly how I create and so from the very first I was captivated with this book. There is a clear and very in depth description of tools and materials that flows easily to the fundamentals of the metal clay work. Each step is precise with photos. The projects are exciting, fresh and can be used with other clay formats. There are 22 projects to complete that will allow you to explore the techniques of this great master. His artistic skill pours off of the pages that makes you want to know more,
to feel more, and to create more.
If you are a clay worker in any medium or if you want to be this is the book of 2012. It is truly brilliant!

UP COAST TRAVELS

Hi Everyone!
Hope all of you had an enjoyable weekend. Mine was fast, I am however, experiencing fly-by days. I mean really it seems that time is gone before I know it.
The other day I drove up coast with my beading pal Charmaine. She is so funny on the road. We have made many trips together including the one to Japan and the Toho tour in 2009. Here are a few links, however you can see all the posts if you go to Nov 2009.
Wow I must be missing Japan because I wanted to show you photos of Oregon. LOL
It was a wicked day on the water and by the time we got to Depot Bay the waves were spraying the sidewalks. Just a got a few shots before we froze, besides the bead store was calling our name on the wind. Hee hee hee.
Wishing all of you a happy week.

You can see the spray coming up in the back of the photo

The water would churn and roll deep before huge waves came up

Charmain, freezing. Yes we had coats, they were in the car.

SHOWTIME NEED TO BEAD

Hi Everyone!
It has been awhile since I have showed any of my own bead work. A few reasons for that, 1, most of my bead art goes to magazines for publication and can't be shown before hand. 2, I have been busy with other things. LOL.... I just need another me to get everything done.
I have a show coming up and need to get some new bead pieces made up for it. So yesterday I made this.
It is a peyote base embellished with hundreds of Farfalles and seed beads attached to chain. I love the feel of this necklace and it can be worn with just about anything.
Bad lighting this morning so the photo doesn't show all the color from the Farfalle beads.
Today I am beading, working on two projects at the same time. Hope to get both of them finished today.
Enjoy the necklace.

NEW PATTERNS

Hi Everyone!
There is a lot going on in my life right now. Oh heck there is always a lot going on in my  life. LOL However, I feel an urgency, a hurry up kind of anxiousness in the air. I can't sleep over it and so I find myself up at 3 AM taking care of art, computer things and what ever... Does any one else feel this way?
So to lighten the anxy feeling I worked on patterns. Here are just a few of my latest. You can find all of my patterns in my Beadwright Bead Coop, and some of them in my Beadwright etsy store.

These are loom and peyote stitch

This is a very old piece that I loom beaded then added to an Elk spilt cut hide.

A new beading friend of mine, Ed Fry is using one of my traditional patterns on his heddle loom.
Great job Ed

Here are the looms we make and sell. Very traditional and very easy to use

Ohh... remember you can still use coupon code (GOODTHRUFEB12) in our Beadwright etsy store to receive 35% off EVERYTHING. You only get the discount by using the coupon at check out.

STUDIO BOOKS BY LARK

Hi Everyone!
Hope all of you had a good weekend. We are getting a bit of rain and I certainly can't complain with the mild winter we are having here.
A while back I was sent these fabulous Studio books from Lark. There are eight 5"x 5" hard bound books that bring such delight and inspiration that you will keep coming back them. The titles are Tables, Handmade Dolls, Pendants, Handmade Books, Ceramic Sculptures, Art Tiles, Earrings, and Chairs. OK, so you do make some of these items, however, the quality of art in each book will allow you to gain perspective to grow in your own art medium. Each book is 202 pages and the artists are some of the finest in the world.
A wonderful collection to add to your book shelves.

PAINT PARTY FRIDAY

Hey Everyone. I have had a few people mention  that I have my comments set up for Registered Users - includes OpenID and that it is a pain to leave a comment. Sorry about that.  I use to have my comments open to anyone including Anonymous Users and was getting so much spam including some real sick stuff that I no longer allow just anyone to comment. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Hi Everyone!
This week has just been so busy in addition to trying to feel better, that I actually thought this was Thursday not Friday. So this week again I will be showing older art. Hey art is art.
Thanks to Eva and Kristin for hosting Paint Party Friday week 48.
Be sure to stop by and see all of the fantastic artists who join in.

This is what I call "Car Art" I draw and sketch while we are on road trips. Yes I am the passenger. LOL

These photos were in one of the drawers and for the life of my I don't remember why I put them there. They should be in the photo album. But I thought you might like to see how I looked in the olden days. Hee hee hee. Remember these are from film. Some of you still remember film right? LOL

OREGON COAST A BIT OF MY WORLD

Hi Everyone!
Most of you know how much I dislike living on the Oregon cost. It is too cold, too wet, too grey, and too windy. So why am I here? It is to be close to my mom so I can help her out. It is the only reason. With that said, we have been having the most sun filled winter ever! Not warm sun, the wind cuts the warm right out of the air, but the sunny days have been so good for me. The other day Mike and I drove up cost to Bandon, a cute and artsy coastal town that is so much fun. The people are friendly and inviting. We had a great time and a good meal. Here are some photos.

The seagulls are so use to people you can walk right up to them
Oregon if known for bridges and light houses
Bandon has wonderful sculptures that decorate the boardwalk
 In the bay
This is an amazing mound of wood and sea weed

GOOD NEWS AND NEW CABS

Hi Everyone!

Again, I want to thank everyone who showered me with healing energy and showing me just how much you care about me. It is so humbling to receive well wishes from all over the world. Thank you. So what are the results pretty good considering how darn down and out I was. LOL My pathologies were all NEGATIVE for cancer, crohss dis-ease, no malignancies. HURRAAYYYYY!!! I do however, have diverticulitis and a small hiatal hernia. All of the inflammation of my entire innards is a flare from the lupus. I was on a high dose of antibiotics which has worked with lupus to zap my energy. And finally after a 6 day migraine I have that all under control. So all in all I am good to go. I ear very healthy so I only had to make a few changes to my diet, like no beer for awhile. (I drink one Coors light a day) I have cut out my Diet Dr Pepper and added more water. Not hard changes so like I said I am good to go. Now for the medical bill OMG I can't even think of it right now.
So let me show you something happy, CABS!! how can you not smile when you see a beautiful cabochon.
A few of these come from a mine here in Oregon. The rest are hand crafted by a local man and his son here on the cost. All the cabs are included in my 35% off sale. Please Please Please use the coupon code
GOODTHRUFEB12 This is the only way to receive the discount in my Beadwright Etsy store.
Have a happy Saturday
