Hi Everyone!
As I started to write a very lovely post, I recieved a phone call from the Ear Nose and Throat doctor. My appt., that I have been waiting 4 months for, was cancelled and now is Sept 29. I am litteraly on the verge of crying. I asked the girl to please put me on the emergency wait list, that I am looking at possible thyroid cancer. She said she would. I am so at a loss with the (why) there is not enough medical professionals in the US and especially Oregon.
So, I applogise for this post and will write a nice one next week. I'm just too upset.
For my drink, if I had some it would be all of these. Ha ha ha. One or two and I would be out.

It is a strange to me why you don't have a lot of doctors there. Are there no medical schools in the state?
Sorry to hear this disappointing and frustrating news for you. I'm sure it's maddening.
I am sorry to hear about this. In my experience, there is never not enough medical professionals. It is the cost of running a profitable small business. Joining a large enterprise, the commission and the politics kill any prospect of earning anything. It is a dog eats dog world.
sorry to hear about the doctors appointment. It seem to be a common problem. We have the same problem in Sweden. Doctors and nurses are not paid money enough. Because of that they are too few and have to work around the clock. So young people don´t go to med-scool. Too hard work and to little pay.
So sick people are put on waiting lists. Sometimes for more then 6 months. And they send them home from hospitals before they are well.
When my sister was ill I took her to the hospital. I was not allowed to follow her inside as it was pandemic times. She was sitting in the waiting room for 10h before she went angry. I was waiting for a call to come and to pick her up. She asked someone passing through if I had to wait all night and I was 77 years old. Then they finally found somebody to examine her. It took 10 min. At that time both of us was pissed. But I picked her up and drew her home to her place. Young people don´t fo to medschool because it is lousy paid, too long hours to work. I am happy I don´t need doctors. The problems I have I can deal with myself.
I really hope you can have an appointment soon. If I had V E R Y long arms I would hug you. :)
So very sorry to hear that. It is so frustrating. I had to wait 5 or 6 months to see the dermatologist to have my head lump cut out. (So long and had so many other health issues, I can't even remember.) The dermatologist changed my appointment, too--but only into the following week. When I used to go to a rheumatologist I had to wait 4-5 months at least. Hang in there! *hugs*
That just stinks. I agree, you would think there would be more doctors so people wouldn't have to wait for weeks to reschedule an appointment the office cancelled. I hope something opens up for you earlier. And I hope you have a great T day,although I get why you may not. hugs-Erika
One issue that's not the case with American doctors is being underpaid -- they are the highest-paid professionals in the US. In Oregon they earn between $120,000 and $380.000 a year. The nurses, earn much less, though.
Medical schools in the US are very selective, so that many aspiring medical students are turned away and have to seek other professions. This is very different from the European situation that other commenters have mentioned.
The problems here is completely different. I feel very sorry for Nicole to be so disrespected and left so desperate for help.

I can understand doctors leaving red states because they don't like being told who they can treat and who they can't (abortion rights), but Oregon is a blue state and you should be able to get better care. I feel for you, Nicole. I have no credible answers for you, but it seems to be a common problem, according to others who have commented. Thanks for sharing this horrifying news and those drinks with us for T this week, dear friend.
So sorry about the postponement. It's worrying and upsetting, too.
Our medical service system is a mess. The insurance and the profit people have ruined everything. Hang in there and advocate for yourself and don't lose hope. Angels are always nearby. Bless you and Aloha

I understand you are very upset, disappointed, maybe also and afraid on top.
I would be, too. Yesterday I tried to call the hospital (they asked me to call back / nothing serious) - I gave up. No answer. Ever.
Fingers and Toes crossed all ... like ALL... turns out well. Soon.
Other... have another drink. I feel like one now, too.
We pay and pay into the health insurance and for what?
Ingo just had - despite paying into the insurance company - I will not lie, I don´t know exactly but it was quite a lot, to the dentist.
I don´t understand this.
And cancer... I fail to understand why not help NOW! This is so scary.

So sorry to hear your appointment is delayed, I think it's the same everywhere, we read about the problems in england, here in Spain it seems to be a problem since covid getting a doctors appointment but afterwards I've heard it's not too long waiting although we paid private for my DH's skin cancer opp to skip the docotrs waiting time, over and done it ten days.

I would have thought Oregon a desirable place to settle so it’s hard to understand the third world level of medical care there.
So sorry, Nicole. I would drop by and show a few tears to see if it helps on speeding up the appt. Things are starting to get like that here a bit too. I had to get an appt with my neurologist rescheduled because I had strep throat and the soonest they could do it was 2 months. A bit scary. Fun drink picture - thinking one or two might be in order. I am so sorry to hear about your continuing trouble getting seen. I know what's wrong in Tennessee, but it is certainly something different where you are. I hope an earlier appointment turns up.
I'm so sorry to hear that your appointment has been pushed off until late September, especially if you are worried about thyroid cancer! It's not only frustrating, but scary too! I have you in my thoughts and prayers. Your drinks look delicious, but I'm like you, two would absolutely knock me out, one would make me feel really good. Enjoy your week! I'm so sorry that you have to wait so long for your appointment. Here there are also some waiting times for certain OPs or treatments, but on the whole we are very well set up here in Germany. I need a lot of medical treatment and have always been treated quickly and well, for which I am very thankful. I hope you get an earlier appt! Hugs, Valerie

I'm so sorry to hear about the cancelled appointment. What's the matter with them! I hear it more and more that people have to wait months for appointments.
Luckily in Andalucia (at least in my province) it's not too bad at all. My friend had a lump on his head and he got an appointment with a dermatologist in two weeks and then had to wait a few more weeks for his operation. All his waiting times have been weeks rather than months. When my hubby was ill it was the same, even during Covid he got good care (although I wasn't allowed to be with him).
But you don't want to hear that. I do hope they can fit you in somewhere. A cancellation or something.

It’s so frustrating when you can’t get the appointment you need in a timely fashion. Sending good thoughts that there will be a cancellation and your appointment will be a lot sooner.
I am unable to belive you have to wait for months for a medical appointment. This is so frustrating and primitive for a developed country.There is something fundamentally wrong in the healthcare system. Here in India we crib on appointments that are delayed by few hours!

Sometimes I think the medical system is culling patients on some kind of system based on money/coverage. The length of time to get appointments can't all be due to lack of doctors.
Yes, the medical system is frustrating and, in my opinion, only after money, with the exception of some great Dr.'s. I have dealt with the same thing, canceled appointments on their part after months of waiting. BUT we have it SO much better than those with socialist medicine. I know a person from Canada that had to come to the US for life saving surgery because the wait list was past a year. And that was for diagnosed stage 4 cancer. Don't give up! Just keep bugging them on the phone.
