T stands for a health scare

 Hi Everyone!

I've been laying low the over the weekend. Friday I woke up at 6:30 and as I headed down then stairs I realized my the right side of my face and right arm was numb. Not like they were asleep but numb. I thought give it a minute and it will go away. By 7AM I woke up Mr. M. and called 911. I thought I was having a stroke. The EMTs arrived started asking questions and hooked me up to a machine. The female started doing physical tests on me all the while asking questions. Both EMTs told me that I was NOT in stroke mode but if I wanted to go to the hospital for further tests I could go. I felt OK with their assesment and refused the hospital. About an hour later the numbness was all gone. Mr. M. would not allow me to do ANYTHING Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Even though I was feeling fine. I have been going to physical therapy for my left shoulder and I do believe, now, that with all of the exercises something must have gotten pinched or upset. I will see her tomorrow. I guess what I am trying to say and what the EMTs said to me. Is no matter how sketchy the symptoms, if you feel like a stroke is coming on call 911.

Geeeesss, 70 and everthing falls apart. LOL

Today is the T-Party over at
Bleubeard and Elizabeth's. Be sure to stop by to see what it's all about.
Since all I was allowed to do the last few day is watch TV I will share an amazing movie on Netflix. Where the Crawdads Sing.
Abandoned as a girl, Kya raised herself in the dangerous marshlands of North Carolina. For years, rumors of the marsh girl haunted Barkley Cove, isolating the sharp and resilient Kya from her community. Drawn to two young men from town, she opens herself to a new and startling world. However, when one of them is found dead, Kya immediately becomes the main suspect. As the case unfolds, the verdict as to what happened becomes increasingly unclear, threatening to reveal many secrets. The ending is brilliant.

Now for some drinks to get me into the party.

Hopefully next week I will have a better post.
Wishing all of you a very good day.

Nicole

Your experience sounds very scary. I'm glad you turned out to be ok, and I hope that your physical therapist will know how to prevent it happening again.

Oh that is indeed scary. I hope the best for you, so glad it does not seem to be a stroke.

So glad it wasn't a stroke! But very mysterious symptomology. Will you be consulting a doctor?

So happy to know that you did not have a stroke! wishing you all the best ❤️

Oh, that sounds very scary! Glad you have been taken care of that well and are fine. When Ingo fell unconscious I had to call emergency, too. They did a great job (and took care of me first, LOL, it was some ordeal to feel so helpless...!)
The movie sounds very interesting.
Have a happy T-Day.

What a scare! Better safe by calling 911 for sure.I hope you are all right, that it was just a pinched nerve or muscle spasm.
Follow up with test to be certain.

Time is gold in the event of an acute stroke. However, ambulance delay can be up to 8 hours in down under. It is becoming a stress.

ouch, that´s a scary one. Glad it was not a stroke and you are fine again. :)

Yes--so glad you were okay. One never knows and it is better to be safe than very sorry. ;) I hope your physical therapist will have some answers or suggestions or insights. Love the cartoons! :)

Oh my, I'm glad that you are ok and doing well, that all sounds so scary! So nice of your hubby to look after you so well too 😊. I think everything falls apart as you get older for me well before reaching 70 ...lol! Such great T Day funnies today too. Take care and Happy T Day wishes! Hugs Jo x

Nicole, how scary for you both! So glad it wasn't a stroke. And I don't blame you for not wanting to go to the hospital. I don't think they have much common sense or discretion when it comes to running up a medical bill. Still, it's better to be safe than sorry!

Good advice, Nicole. If you suspect any symptoms as being indicative of a stroke, get help right away. Thank goodness it was something far less severe.

I have called 911 once in my life - Mom had an incident that I thought was a stroke. Her speech became gibberish. It was clear in her eyes she KNEW what she was saying but she also could see that I couldn't understand.
It started mildly. A word or two was "strange" - which had happened with low blood sugar in the past. So I got her to eat a spoonful of peanut butter while I looked up the FAST thing on my phone. When I had her smile one side drooped. YIKES! 9-1-1
By the time they arrived it had resolved and she was back to normal. (It was low sugar- my first instinct was correct.)
Still like yours, it was scary.

SO glad you have a pop up comment box.

Sorry to read about your health scare. Sounds like a pinched nerve. SO glad it wasn't a stroke. Hope your physical therapist can give you better exercises.

I read the book, so I knew the ending. I even know what a crawdad is, and I'm not from the south.

Cute coffee memes. Thanks for sharing the info on strokes, the film "Where the crawdads sing," and the coffee memes you shared with us for T this Tuesday, dear Nicole.

That is quite the scare Nicole. I am glad you don't have the numbness anymore. I hope it doesn't come back. and I agree, that's a good movie. The book is good also, but very close to the movie. I hope you have a great T day and week ahead. hugs-Erika

Your husband made the right choice, as he called the doctor as soon as he noticed your right arm was still numb. Sometimes people who have a stroke don't remember the day, the month, and the year they were born. That's why when the doctor arrived to your house she started asking you questions.

I agree with you and roentare (comment above), as in this contest we have not to be late in calling ambulance and doctor.

Great to hear it wasn't a stroke!

Whew! I’m so glad it wasn’t a stroke. That had to have been quite alarming. Thoroughly enjoyed the coffee memes. :D

Sorry you had those strange symptoms, but you were so right to call the emergency services. Today I got my safety apparatus installed here, if I fall down and can't get up again I just need to press the red button hanging round my neck and then I will get help. But I'm glad to hear that you had nothing serious, that's good. Happy T day, hugs, Valerie

Oh how scary! I'm so glad you are ok. Please take care, and I'm praying for you.

Yep, very scary. You did right, but I’m glad it wasn’t a stroke. Could well have been a pinched nerve.
And you have been pampered as well into the bargain. I have not seen the film but have read the book. The best bOok I have read for a long time.
Happy T Day,
Hugs,
Lisca

I am so glad that it was nothing serious. That must have been scary but at least you know it wasn't a stroke. I love that your hubby is taking care of you and is making sure you are on light duty.
I have seen ads for that movie but have yet to see it. I would like to read the book first.
Happy Tea Day,
Kate

You made me concerned at first dear Nichole but thanks to grace of God that it wasn't a stroke. Your hubby was wise to call 911 immediately!
Almost 17 years ago i suddenly got pain in my left side during workout .It frightened me for whole day but I did not tell anyone I mean hubby as he could have blamed it on exercise. Pain lightened at night and till morning it was gone. I started exercise after few days and kept it slow and smooth until one week. It never happened again thankfully.
Oh thank you sooo much for recommending this very nice movie. I will try to locate it here.
With age when body gets old soul seems to travel opposite side.
Hugs and blessings

Nicole,

Oh how scary that must have been but I'm so glad you weren't having a stroke. It's best to be safe. I'm glad you called 911. Perhaps you slept funny on that side of your body. I frequently wake to find a stiff neck or shoulder, even my arm completely asleep. I try to watch my position to keep weird things from happening but it still does.

Where The Crawdads Sing looks like an interesting drama. We don't have Netflix, though. I may check one of our other streaming services for it.

I love your coffee memes. That Maxine is the best! Stay warm. It's so cold here in east Tennessee. Also have a blessed Thanksgiving with your family, my dear!

Dear Nicole,
oh I'm also glad it wasn't a stroke! My husband once had similar symptoms, but only on his face, and it took several weeks for the hemifacial paralysis to go away. According to the doctors, it was related to an inflammation of the nerves, but it wasn't painful...
Thank you for your lovely comment on my glass museum post. (Wow, you've even been to a JAPANESE glass museum!)
All the best
and have a wonderful time!

That is absolutely terrifying and I would have done the same thing. I suspect you're right about a pinched nerve or similar but so scary in the night and really, scary anytime. I'm glad you're OK.

That was a scary experience - good that you called 911 and I'm glad that it wasn't anything serious. The explanation with the left shoulder makes sense.
I have read the book, but haven't watched the movie. I enjoyed the book very much and if the ending in the movie is true to the book, it is indeed brilliant.

I'm so glad that you didn't have a stroke, Nicole! Thank goodness for fast and competent EMTs. Calling 911 is critical; better to be safe than sorry! Coffee cups 1, 2, 3, and 4 are how I roll ~ LOL!
