TADD with Rain posting Wednesday

 Hi Everyone!

Today is TADD with Rain and her theme is Trick or Treat. This week I will pass on the theme but give you something scary to see.  As most of you know I have been working on some skulls and turning them into something else. I love this kind of art! What I will show you today are some 1.5" plastic skulls that I turned into mummified shrunken heads. For the past week I have been doing quite a bit of research on real human shrunken heads. I already knew some of the process of S.H. and the people that head hunted but I found a wonderful web site that explains it perfectly. If you are interested Click here
Also in the next few weeks I will have a step by step on how to make the skin. It was so much fun. I call these mummified because real shrunken heads actually have smother skin. But once I got started I couldn't stop.

The base on both of these is a 1.5" plastic skull. The skin is applied and dried.

There is 3 layers of acrylic paint and 1 layer of pastel to make them look dead. The hair is from old wigs.

As I said these are not finished. One will have a real bone in his nose and new sticks for their head then placed on a stand made of wood. That should be done tomorrow.

For food this week I remembered to take some photos.

I found shrimp on sale and couldn't pass it up. Butter garlic with dill and parsley over angel hair pasta. with some squash.

One night we had breakfast for dinner.

I don't normally get hungry during the day, however, when I do and egg on homemade toasted french bread does it for me.

Another snack we both like is Cottage Cheese and pineapple. Now, for some reason my card reader is not working on my PC so this is a photo from google.

Last but not least is blueberry cake. Hot out of the oven.

Cooled, sprinkled with powder sugar and ready to eat.

That's it for now. I have to straighten up my art room so I can start playing again tomorrow.

Don't forget to join me for Friday Face OFF. The link is available every Friday at midnight pacific standard time USA

My favourite is the picture of egg on homemade toasted french bread :-) ... I also see spaghetti with shrimps' in one of your pictures. Unfortunately, shrimps' price has been rising sharply since last summer :-( ... when shrimps weren't so expensive I used to prepare them with the lemon juice in a bowl, adding to taste cayenne pepper.
The shrimps were served with crème fraîche and some freshly cracked pepper.

Looking forward to watching your mummified shrunken heads when they will be finished!

Loving your shrunken heads!

Breakfast is more often for supper than for breakfast at my house. I like cottage cheese with fruit. I usually keep either cottage cheese or yoghurt on hand to eat for lunch, and fruit is always a part of that.

OOOOO ... shrunken heads. Your have macabre taste and I love it. I wouldn't love it in real life, but for a fun artistic endeavor ... Awesome! Your food is wonderful. I would willingly eat any or all of it were I at your table. Isn't it a shame that we can't be artistic without making a mess to clean up ... if anyone figures out a way, they will make a million :) Happy, Horrifying Holloween, Nicole :0

Your food looks delicious, especially the blueberry cake, Nicole. I'm soon going to have to get serious about making dinner. I keep getting interrupted by phone calls and texts from my siblings. Interrupted is the wrong word, because I love communicating with them. I hope you are having a great evening!
