Greetings!
Tomorrow is finally the big day for my art show. I have lots of people showing up, friends I haven't seen since covid.
It will be a party.
Please wish my luck
and send selling energy to me.
I am also finished with my abstract painting. I really did have a hard time with the eyes. Still not 100% happy with them but it is what it is.
First though here is my graphite for the week.
I like this guy. I have to keep telling myself that faces are not symetrical on both sides. Hey, my left eye drops due to a lupus episode some 30 years ago. So I like this guys crooked nose and off set eyes.
Now for the abstract face. My camera just won't get a true photo of the colors. The face is very dark in shadow on on right.

The mouth is driving me crazy |
But not as much as the eyes. |
Mouth is better and my camera switched up the colors. I have not changed them. |
Fixing the eyes |
This photo is taken outside. The colors are highlighted from my camera. I so wish I could get a true photo because in real life I am very happy with the colors. Maybe Tom can give me some pointers.
This weeks featured artist is;
I am also linking up with Gillena

Hi Nicole,
it's easy to understand the camera doesn't do your painting justice. Great drawing!
Here the heat and lack of rain has caused trees to shed leaves in order to conserve water. Not to mention of wildlife in terms of damage.
I've just meet two women who come from Vancouver. They are tourists who have asked me information about the location of the guest house the booked. They've said that on the Pacific Coast, where they live, the weather is warmer than here on the Mediterranean sea. I would have never thought this!
Have a nice weekend, Nicole :_)
Hi Nicole!
Your man painting today is fascinating. No one's face is totally symmetric, so it is just OK that all is not perfect. In the other hand imperfections are interesting. The color painting is interesting!
I'm wishing you huge success in your art show - actually I'm sure about that!
Have a wonderful day my friend xx
Best of luck with your show, Nicole. I am sure that you will do very well. As for your comments about asymmetrical faces, if you discount those people there would be little left!
I like todays guy! And I find the unsymetrical faces much more interesting then the symetrical ones. :)
...Nicole, I wish you success at the sale.
Wonderful portraits! Good luck with the show!
Have a great day with your show. Your faces are always good. Cameras often falsify the colours, I have this problem a lot!
Something that I discovered years ago was that if I made a face overly symmetrical, it looked odd. As an experiment, I took photos of several very pretty faces and split them and mirrored one side or the other. Some of them looked completely freakish..
Have a blast at your art show tomorrow, Nicole! It's wonderful to be able to connect with friends again. I love your graphite face. The man looks like someone who would be lovely to sit down and talk with. I like real faces that show character and a life lived. Your abstract portrait is beautiful too. The man is not looking directly forward. He appears deep in thought, and I wonder what he's thinking. Take care!
Your graphite guy looks great - I wouldn't even have noticed that his face is asymmetrical, I just thought he looks like someone wo has a wonderful sense of humor. Asymmetrical faces are interesting I think. Your painting turned out gorgeous and I loved seeing the process. I also find it difficult to get the colors correct when I take pictures of paintings or of my knitted items. Good luck with your art show!
Have a wonderful time at your show! Drink it all in.
My face is definitely not symmetrical. I have a good side and a bad side, so I agree any face should not symmetrical.
I try to adjust my colors in Photoshop. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. I like that it seems easier with my new camera. but I have to adjust both my camera and Photoshop to get a "reasonable" facsimile of my images. I think it looks good, though. Sorry I can't play this week, but I'll try next week. This has been a week a bit like yours, I fear.
Forgot to mention, although I said something yesterday. I hope you sell lots of your art at this fair, dear.
I think faces are usually not totally symmetrical so your guy is just fine. Good luck with your art show.
I'm sending you a bunch of selling energy and warmth! I hope things go perfectly. Can't wait until you're back and tell us how it went.
I appreciate seeing your progression of your painting. He’s a handsome guy, as is your drawn one. They’ve got character! Good luck and have loads of fun with your art show!
hope the show went wonderfully!
I do hope the show went well.
I always enjoy seeing your faces :)
All the best Jan
I suspect it is over now, the show. But I hope it went very well. How wonderful to see people you've not for such a long time!
