Hey Everyone!
I
am running late this AM. I normally write my posts the night before and
schedule them to go live. However, yesterday was a busy, hectic day.
Including giving 10 vials of blood at the lab. Anyway, I am here now and
it's TAD with Rain. Her theme is, "Pink" and you have the option to
follow the theme or not. For me, I am not and never have been a, "Pink"
girl. I am the oldest of 6 kids. 4 boys 2 girls. My sister was all girl.
Dolls, dresses, and all the glitter. I, on the other hand, was a
tom-boy. Always getting into trouble at school for wearing pants, ( there
use to be a dress code at school. LOL) I could climb trees, run faster,
fist fight better and spit farther than any boy on my street. No one messed
with my little brothers and most definitely not my sister. I love horses
but didn't live in a place to be around them, so I focused on cars. I could do all the basics by the time I was 9. I helped my dad put a new motor in a car at age 10. Give me a ratchet and I was happy. LOL
This being a tom-boy/tough-girl stands today. I like to say I am
feminine, NOT frilly. LOL
So....
pink not my color except yesterday after giving blood the phlebotomist
put a pink bandage on my hand. Yeah, in my hand, with lupus, they can
never find a good vein and then I have sticky blood so it's my hand.
I am trying to draw every evening. It is something I enjoy and it relaxes me.
However, I just realized I haven't taken any photos. Duhh.... I will show you tomorrow.
We
have lots of birds in Oregon. The state is a destination for birders. I
saw these little guys on my fence and wonder if David could tell me
what they are.
click on the photos to enlarge.
The tops of their heads are coppery |
I love that the end bird is getting ready to take flight |
I
can air fry, bake, proof bread, and a hundred other things. I have had
this air fryer a few years and really appreciate the French doors. |
I roasted potatoes the other night in the air fryer the other night. Also it's cheaper to use than my oven. |
Thanks for stopping by today. Be sure to now go visit Rain and all the TAD crowd, you won't be disappointed.
Have a great day.
Nicole

Ten vials of blood? Sheesh, do you have any left to need that bright pink bandage, LOL? Good entry for today's theme! I was never a pink girly-girl either. My parents tried, though, when I was little.
Very pink bandage! The food looks delicious!
...they never find good veins with me either.
Boa tarde Nicole. Espero que dê tudo certo nos seus exames médicos. Grande abraço carioca.
I know what you mean about giving blood. In the four months I was in clinic I had to give so much blood its a wonderI still have some. But I never got a pink bandage! Have a great day, Valerie
You pink bandage is quite a surprise. Hope your hand is comfortable. Yummy food. Thanks for dropping by Nicole.
Much💛love
I have noticed that many girls hate pink colour. Also my two daughters have never had pink clothes, pink phone cover or pink pencils. Not to mention of pink nails. Maybe they know that pink is a gendered colour, and that's the reason why many girls threw this social norm out the window.
The food seems delicious! Enjoy the rest of this week, Nicole!
Your pink is great! But ouch! I love your "I'm feminine but not frilly." Me too!
The birds on the fence are great. Good shots.
I have an air fryer, but it isn't an oven. Mine is one of those small drawer type units. I would much rather have an air fryer oven! If I ever need to replace my toaster oven, that's what I'll get.
I hope the results are good after ten vials of blood. The hot pink bandage was perfect timing for this week's theme.
I've never seen an air fryer with french doors. WOW...that's cool! We have the drop-in basket type. I must look out for one like yours.
Lovely bird sighting!
I hope you have a relaxing weekend,
Serena x
Wonderful pink band aid ~ and neat photos Xo
Wishing you good health, laughter and love in your days,

I can so relate, no dolls for me ;-)
And yes, defending my (one) little Brother, of course.
Dad taught me to drive our (non-automatic) BMW at age 14 and sure I took off, but repairs I have two left hands, sadly...
I sadly cannot donate blood no more - I´m sick/veeeery tired for 2 weeks then, sad.
I received blood, thankfully (and gave for years and years).
Cute birds and yes: air fryer, cool thing, that. Ours is MUCH smaller, though.
Late at night here, so.. have a good... ? Too tired to look up what time you are in (I´d be wide awake...)
Hi Nicole:
The birds on the fence are male Brown-headed Cowbirds (Molothrus ater).
Pink has always been my favourite colour.
I do not have an air fryer but they do seem very popular and a good friend of mine loves hers ...
All the best Jan
Thanks David. I appreciate you letting me know what kind of birds these are.
The pink bandage works for pink. Don't you hate giving blood through your hand? I have horribly small veins and my hand seems to be the place to go. UGH. And I like your air fryer. That looks like a great piece of kitchen equipment. I don't have one, but I like yours. Hugs-Erika
The one time I had blood drawn I fainted. Needle in my vein and all. I have a phobia and it is that. I can't imagine giving that much blood, but that is a colorful bandage.
You sound a lot like me. My grandfather wanted a boy, so he taught me carpentry, auto mechanics, plumbing, and electrical wiring. when I was five, I helped him lay a tongue and groove floor. I made my allowance by changing the oil, filter, and spark plugs in his cars. Like you, I could tear an engine down and rebuild it. That may be why I chose engineering as my undergrad degree. I think if we ever met, we could talk for hours about our similarities.
No air fryer here. They are a bit out of my price range. You always make me hungry when I visit.
looks cool with the pink bandage even if I guess you would have been happier not needed it. :)
Take care.
OMG. Nicole ... you were me. All that you said about being a Tomboy ... I lived that life and loved it. I was the "son" my father didn't have. We went to sports and played sports together. Yes, I would pop a smart a.. boy in the nose if he asked for it. And like you, I never outgrew it. I loved horses and we did have a riding stable near us. I would pretend I was Roy Rogers on trigger. My Mother used to say when she couldn't find me, the first place she would look was up in the trees. And I could fix a car or change a tire ... back in the days when cars were fixable. Now with the computer running everything, I doubt if this generation of Tomboys can fix cars. I think is was a fun awesome way to grow up and it made me strong in many way. I admire your tomboy life, Nicole ...
The birds on the fence are Cow Birds. They are fairly common around here and usually show up with the Grackles and the Starlings ... oh and yes, the Red Wing Blackbirds. And no, I don't have an air fryer ... I thought about it at one point, but didn't follow through. Now you have me thinking about it again ... and they probably cost ten times as much as before, like everything else. So sorry about your many sticks and even the pink bandage. Stay tough, girlfriend :)

I loved hearing about your Tom-Boy days, Nicole. I was a Tom-Boy too. My sister next to me was such a girly girl. She's still nicknamed Duchess. I'm sorry that you had to give so much blood yesterday. Lupus is no fun, based on what I know about people who have it. I've been thinking about getting an air fryer. It's good to know that you find it so handy. Have a great weekend!
I'm so sorry about your hand -- but at least the bandage is cheery, even if maybe not your best color! It's hard when they have to keep poking, isn't it? Bad enough it need be done at all! But I loved your stories! They put me in the pink!
Of course David knew what birds were in your photo!!! ☺
Geez Sis, I'm sorry about your hand...that just looks so sore, I hope you're okay after being poked like that. Sweet and sour meatballs!!! Yum!!! I really wish I had an air fryer! It's on my wish list! But I'm saving every penny for a KitchenAid kitchen mixer! Maybe in a few years lol....those things cost a fortune!!
