Movie Monday

Hi Everyone!

Here it is Monday already. Before I get into this weeks movie I want to remind everyone that Feb. 1 is the start to 29 Faces. Grannie Annie and I are going to post and link with each other. If anyone wants to join in, please just create a face in any medium and let us know so we can all exchange links. Martha, the creator and host for 29 Faces, no longer links up on blogger but on FB and I believe IG.

One thing I watched this last week was the Janet Jackson documentary. I, like most of the world, have been a Janet fan from her early days. The documentary was excellent. Well done with some very interesting insights. I watched it on Lifetime so I think it will air again.

Blogger is not playing nice with my fonts today.
So, sorry if it doesn't look right.
This is a movie I own but watched it again on Netflix.
The cast is excellent to name just a few,
Samuel L Jackson, Julianne More, Edie Falco, and William Forsyth. The movie is about a mother blames the disappearance of her child on a black man from the projects after she reports a carjacking. A detective (Samuel L. Jackson) suspects the woman is hiding something, and he enlists the aid of a missing-child activist (Edie Falco). While the investigation continues, the media amplifies the case's notoriety, bringing up some tough racial issues.
Julianne More does an excellent job in this movie.
This is a highly charged and emotional movie.

That's for now, enjoy your day.

Life now and then

 Hi Everyone!

This is for anyone who wants to grow onions inside or out and to let Elizabeth from Altered Book Lover how to finish off the planting. I didn't have photo yesterday. With a good potting soil and a hand full of nitrogen the onions should do well. If you don't have bone meal or other commercial types of nitrogen, then mix the soil with coffee grounds.

This soil is excellent but use what you have. If you are using old soil make sure it's fortified with other nutrients.

If you are not planting into he ground use a container that is at least 10 inches deep. Make sure there is good drainage. Add some drainage rocks too.

Add the soil a 1/3 at a time moistening it as you go.

When the pot is full add a hand full of bone meal or coffee grounds and mix.

Most of the time when you root an onion from and onion there are 2 or 3 greenery shoots. To get more onions by gently cutting the onion around separate shoots.

Then plan them into the container. I left room for one more onion. Simply place this in a window that gets good sunlight. Use the green part of the onion when they get a bit bigger than this.

Some fun photos taken at the resort we managed.
I had forgotten how thick my hair was.
My black dog, Crookie, was my constant companion
I was then, a crack shot with my bow and arrows. We had many a good meal with my hunting skills.

OK, that's it for now.
Just a reminder Feb. 1 starts 29 Faces.
Have a great day.

TAD Winter Night Scene

 Hi Everyone!

Today is TAD and Rain's theme is, Winter Night Scene. I have some pictures from google that I have stashed away because I wanted to paint them. However, I haven't had time for that.

Elizabeth from Altered Book Lover ask if I put my window onions in dirt. Ya know this one.

Yes, today I am planting this. I was hoping to have it done yesterday to show photos, but all of my garden soil is covered and not accessible. I had Mr. M. get me a small bag yesterday. 2 points, plant it into the permanent container or ground area. Next, onions need a good douse of Nitrogen when planted so mix the dirt well with some bone meal. Since it's still winter, I will keep my onions in the house. I will be able to use the tops for the next few months, then put outside when winter is over.
I haven't been doing much cooking. Both Mr. M. and I have not been that hungry, so we just fend for ourselves. I needed to use up the left-over mini meat loaf so made a grilled cheese sandwich with it on sourdough bread.
OMG good!

Here is a blast from the past. When Mr. M. and I came in from living remote we landed a job at a resort. I will tell you it was very difficult to come back to society, a roof of our heads and back to a job. The place was still out in the wilderness and we continued to live on the upper property in the forest.
Me at work. I managed the store Mr. M. managed the boat docks. I think I was 33 years old here. One thing I remember clearly was always trying to get the owner to unclutter this area. Haa the guy who owned this place a clutter monger.

I guess that's it for today. Be sure to visit Rain and why not join in with the TAD gang.

Have a great day everyone!

T Stands for a bit of everything

 Happy Tuesday!

Tuesday means it a T-Party over at Elizabeth's Altered Book Lover. Every week the T-gang gets together to share a bit of their world. The ticket to get in is a drink of some sort. So, what's been going on in my small part of the world? First, I got another head on a stick made. I used glass eyes and it worked out great.
I will get this little creature painted today.

Next is my window onion. Last Saturday I showed an onion bottom I started in water in one of my kitchen windows. Seriously, I can just about watch it grow.

 Saturday

Tuesday

 Strong roots

 Starting another onion

Making Dinner last night. I got some beautiful bell peppers the other day and sooo it was stuffed pepper night. These are organic so I will keep the seeds to dry and use later in a garden.

Mix ground meat with anything you want to spice and season it up. Add an egg, bread crumbs and a bit of oats. Mix is all up.

I like orange Mr. M. likes red.

There is always meat left over so it goes in as a small meat loaf. I do not like greasy food so everything goes on a rack with water in the bottom to steam the food.

I forgot to take a photo of the finished plate. There was rice and corn and of course homemade Red Lobster biscuits.

Update on my car. The part finally came in. I will take my care in this week and drop it off for about 10 days. I sure hope the loaner car is descent. I will sterilize it before I get into it. LOL

Now for my ticket into the party. My dear friend Donna Z. sent me two mugs to help fill my cupboard. If you didn't see my post about my shelf breaking... well most of my cups and mugs fell to the ground with a crash. Thanks Donna I love this so much. Ohh there is hot water inside the cup.

That's it for today. Be sure to check out what the T-Gang is up to. Have a good one.

Movie Monday

 Happy Monday!

I hope you had a good weekend. For Mr. M. and I our, "good" has changed so much. B.C. (before covid) I was very social and active in my town. Now, with so many antivaxxers and antimaskers we stay very close to home and find creative ways to keep busy. One of the things is watching more films and series.
Saturday, I watched a movie called,
"Then Came You"
Have your tissues close by for this one. A comedy with a touch of love. Not my normal watch but it stars Maisie Williams for GOT and well I can't pass up a movie with her in it. hypochondriac working as an airport baggage handler is forced to confront his fears when a British teenager with a terminal illness enlists him to help her carry out her eccentric bucket list. I watched this on Netflix.

Then on Saturday afternoon I started binge watching, "The Ozarks" on Netflix. Season 4 is out and well one can't just start with that, you have to go back a few seasons to catch up. Now I don't want you to think I just sit in a chair watching nonstop TV. Because I had seen the previous season, I just listened to them as I did things around the house. LOL Season 4 is pretty tense, and the ending is chilling. If you have not seen this series, get started on it. Jason Bateman and Laura Linney. How can you go wrong with these two?

That's it for now. Enjoy your day.

Saturday 1/22

 Happy Saturday!

I am happy to show you what I am working on. Clay has sort of take me by surprise and I am loving it. I have dabbled in different types of clays over the years but all of a sudden, I am mesmerized by it.
This is drying now, and I love this little creature. Can't wait to paint him.

We had tacos and tostada for dinner tonight. Made with my home canned ground beef and salsa. I am so glad I learned to can. It just makes mealtime so much easier. Blueberry muffin cake for desert. Yes, this is a muffin recipe but I just threw the batter into a pan.

I am also getting ready for 29 faces.

Last but certainly not least. Here is the first plant for this year's garden. The bottom of an onion.

That's it for now, have a great day

TAD Winter Sports

 Hey Everyone!

Today is TAD with Rain and her theme this week is, Winter Sports. I have long stopped having winter days outdoors. Ya know sports and having what I use to think was a lot of fun. Mr. M. and I used to spend most of our time outdoors, living remote, and just taking it all in. These days I just want to be warm. LOL
But back then I loved being out in the 20 below getting sled dogs ready to run.
One of the best nights was running the dogs onto a frozen lake while the northern lights danced across the sky.
Anchored in the middle of the frozen drinking hot chocolate and Baileys.
Just me and the dogs. There is nothing like that kind of quiet.

Snow camping is another sport that we did. It was a challenge, me against the elements. I loved that life.

One thing I still love to do is fish.
Lakes, streams, ocean fishing I am in.
However, there is something very special about catching fish through a hole in the ice.
My brother and I would snow mobile all over the backlands outside of Fairbanks.

Well, that's it for the winter sports for me. Be sure to stop by Rain's to see what she and the others have come up with.

T Stands for getting on with it.

 Happy T Tuesday!

Today is the T-party over at Elizabeth's Altered Book Lover

This is a wonderful site where people get together to share everything from art to daily living. Your ticket in is to show something drink related. How fun is that?

First I want to say that I am not worried about the post taken down or lost or whatever. I have had several posts just not there any longer over the decades I have been blogging. In reality who ever goes back to look at earlier posts.

To get rid of the negative energy in my house I did a deep smudging/cleansing. I will not allow the negative to rule my life. It's too easy to fall into that. We have to act not react to the things that occur in our lives. I doubled up on a rattle drumming session too. Things have and will change in my little corner of the world.
These are some of my tools. The drum I made many years ago the rattle just a few months ago. They make beautiful music together.

I finished this Firelady. Someone called her that on FB so I will go with it.

She gets the first piece of my
clay doll jewelry.

I had a bag of shredded cabbage in my fridg that had been in there longer that I wanted. It was still perfectly good butttt.... So I made cabbage soup with home canned chicken, broth and beans. OMG good. Nothing like weekend soup.

Last night we had pizza. It is one of those meals that takes care of all the food groups. LOL
As you know I make my own dough. The photo also gets me into the T-party. With my ice cold beer.

I can't tell you how good this is. Wish I had taste-a-vision LOL.

Well that is it for now. I hope you will join in or at least stop by to see what all the T-Gang are doing.
