TAD with Rain Broomsticks

Greetings!

 

Update. Yes I am in the wrong week for TAD.

I checked several times and my eyes went to broomsticks.

So next week I will do being watched. 

What can I say?

I seriously don't know where the week has gone. 

I had a list of things to do and I only got a few of them done. 

Here it is Thursday and it's an art date with Rain.

TAD. Her theme this week is, "Broomstick"

There is a lot of history on the broom stick but it is always brought to the witches broom. According to the 

History channel website, no one really knows when the first broom was invented but sweeping goes back to ancient times. It is thought twigs and branches were used.

The word broom comes from the actual plant, or shrub, that was used to make many early sweeping devices. It gradually replaced the Old English word besom, though both terms appear to have been used until at least the 18th century. From the beginning, brooms and besoms were associated primarily with women, and this ubiquitous household object became a powerful symbol of female domesticity.

Despite this, the first witch to confess to riding a broom or besom was a man: Guillaume Edelin. Edelin was a priest from Saint-Germain-en-Laye, near Paris. He was arrested in 1453 and tried for witchcraft after publicly criticizing the church’s warnings about witches. His confession came under torture, and he eventually repented, but was still imprisoned for life. ( I had something sarcastic to say about that but I will let it go. LOL)

There are many rituals where the broom is used. Women/witches would dance and jump over the broom for fertility. Married couples jump over the broom to seal the union. Pagan belief is that the handle is male and the bristly female. You get the idea. The broom is also used to sweep away evil or negative energy from a room or entire house. The broom doesn't actually touch the ground or floor.

This is my broom.

It hangs near a doorway for protection.

I made this broom about 30 years ago and use it often to sweep negative energy from my house. It's pretty special.

Soak strips of wood twine  to wrap around twigs.	Do this all the way up the broom.
To the top	The broom part can be as thick or thin as you like.

Making your own broom puts your energy into it.

Plus it's fun!

 

Mr. M. mentioned some Jalapeno Poppers we ate a few years ago in one of our local eateries. Since we don't eat out,

I decided to make some. Jalapenos from my garden.

I made a cream cheese filling with Mexican spices.

we don't eat fried food, I air fry. I tried 4 pieces in the air fryer and didn't like how they turned out. Sooooo I deep fried the rest and OMG!!!!!! good.

The one with the burn spots is air fried.	They turned out perfectly and so good.

And for the creature of the day.
I am not sure what is with all the eyes on my creatures.
