Movie Monday

Greetings!

I hope all of you had a great weekend. I was busy here with a special order, speaking with my family, and playing in the garden aaannndddd.... watching a few movies to share with you. I was happy to find one of my all time faves from my early days. I was 20 when I first saw this movie and enjoyed it as much now as then. I watched it on TCM and in fact they have featured it a few times this year.
I will tell you it is not for the faint of heart. So my none scary movie waters may not want to try this one.
"The Other"
After their father dies, young twin brothers Holland (Martin Udvarnoky) and Niles (Chris Udvarnoky) spend their summer playing around the farm, while their mother (Diana Muldaur) hides in mourning. Holland is the more mischievous of the two, while Niles is shy and quiet. Their grandmother, Ada (Uta Hagen), has taught Niles how to project himself into other people and animals as a harmless game. But when a series of deadly tragedies strike the family and friends, only Ada suspects the truth.
It is a true psychological thriller.

The second movie I watch was an amazing story of a young girl that, after an accident, didn't age. This movie is so well told and filmed that I have actually watched it twice.
Blake Lively plays this part with excellence. As do the rest of the cast. Michiel Huisman, Harrison Ford, and Ellen Burstyn to name a few of the outstanding cast.

Adaline Bowman (Blake Lively) has miraculously remained a youthful 29 years of age for nearly eight decades, never allowing herself to get close to anyone lest they discover her secret. However, a chance encounter with a charismatic philanthropist named Ellis Jones (Michiel Huisman) reawakens Adaline's long-suppressed passion for life and romance. When a weekend with Ellis' parents threatens to expose the truth, Adaline makes a decision that changes her life forever.

I highly recommend both of these films and hope you enjoy them.

Have a great day today!

Paint Party Friday Abstract Tree

Greetings!

Happy Friday to everyone! Of course it's Paint Party Friday over at Eva and Kristen's. Come by to see what all of the artists are creating.
For me, I wanted to use just 2 colors with a black background. I grabbed some Yellow Ochre and Burnt Umber acrylic paints and just painted. I had something in mind but as Yellow hit the canvas it all changed. I love that.
This is a small canvas for me. 14x12" gallery canvas.
Abstract "Dream Tree"

Wishing everyone a great Friday.

Lazy Day Wednesday

Greetings!

If feels like it is going to be a lazy day. Well, for me that just means 1/2 the work I do all day. LOL
The rain has stopped for a day but the wind is out of the North and stings when it hits my face. The garden will have to stay under cover the rest of the week. Tomorrow starts the heavy rains again. Sighhhhh... How I long for a normal summer.
A month or so ago I painted some new glass cabs that I don't think I shared.
I always get asked what are cabochons, "cabs" pronounced (KAB oh shon) and it always surprises me when people don't know what they are.
Basically it is a component to use in any type of art, but most seen in jewelry.
The round cabs are 35mm

and this is 40x30mm
Always fun to make and sold on my website
Now to see what kind of trouble I can get myself into.
Have a great day everyone!

T Stands for No sunshine

Greetings!

Today is T for no sunshine for 5 days. Just gray, overcast, marine layer, fog, rain and wind. NOT good for a garden.
So I cooked and baked that last few days. A pot of 15 beans but then I add extra so I guess you can say it was a pot of 20 bean soup. I forgot to take a photo. You will have to imagine the glory of it. Corn bread too.
The next day I got up early and made some meaty spaghetti sauce. Ground beef, pork and beef unrendered Chorizo, and Italian sweet sausage. Home canned tomatoes and tomato sauce. When it was done I sliced an eggplant. I dipped it in an egg wash, flour and bread crumbs. Then fried it in butter and garlic just until golden. Then into a backing dish and layered with the sauce and a mixture of mozzarell and parmesan cheeses. Baked at 400 for 40 minutes. OMG!!!! The best.
I made beer batter french bread too.

I can't tell you how good this is. Even Mr. M. liked it.

Yes those are my little feet. I am short and need to stand on a step stool to take photos.

The bread has just the right about of crunch outside and soft and chewy inside.

Later in the evening Mr. M. got home made yellow cake with chocolate frosting and a cuppa coffee.

I showed this the other day. I mentioned I see animals.

It now looks like this. I never said real animals. LOL

I also did this drawing of my son for his birthday. He will be 52 in a few days.

Movie Monday

Greetings!

It's Movie Monday. I watched one that I had forgotten about.
"Remember Me" is a 2010 American romantic coming-of-age drama film directed by Allen Coulter, and screenplay by Will Fetters. It stars Robert Pattinson, Emilie de Ravin, Chris Cooper, Lena Olin, and Pierce Brosnan. The film received mixed to negative reviews from critics, mainly due to its ending. However, for me it is the ending that makes the film. It ends on a day that everyone in the world knows. I will leave it at that.
I very much enjoy this movie and I watched it on Netflix but it is also on Prime.

The second movie is, "I Still See You".
This is a 2018 American supernatural mystery thriller film, directed by Scott Speer, from a screenplay by Jason Fuchs. It is based upon the novel Break My Heart 1000 Times, by Daniel Waters. It stars Bella Thorne, Richard Harmon and Dermot Mulroney. This film kept my attention and I loved the idea of this movie. Plus Dermot Mulroney also keeps my attention. LOL

An explosion at Dr. Martin Steiner's Ashburn Laboratories in Chicago kills countless people. Indistinguishable from humans, ghostly specters of the event's victims begin haunting the world as non-sentient "remnants" that briefly repeat certain actions at daily intervals.

Ten years later, high school student Veronica 'Ronnie' Calder confronts her mother about how they don't acknowledge her dead father Robert's daily presence at their breakfast table. She becomes frightened by a remnant of a young man whose name she intuitively knows is Brian. Brian writes the word "run" on a mirror before vanishing. During a class on remnants taught by Mr. Bittner, Ronnie starts bleeding from her ear. Fearful that Brian wants to harm her, she visits Mr. Bittner at his home but he dismisses her worries.
I watched this on Prime but if you sign up for the free trial on Hulu you can see it there.

Have a great Monday and let me know in the comments what you have been watching.

Garden Saturday

 Greetings!

YAY! Today is Garden Saturday and I am so pleased to show you just how things have progressed.
It's been a tough few days for the garden due to the flippen wind. Only 2 hours of morning sunlight then undercover. It's always windy here especially in the summer but this month has been, blow me to OZ wind. LOL
OK, enough complaining because with all of that my garden has produced some lovely food.
Yep, those are fingerling carrots you see.
A ton of sweet onions, 3 types of lettuce, red radish,
carrots, squash, peas, all kinds of herbs and mustard greens.

Look how big this Grey Squash is!

I was finally able to get some soil for more peppers. Even though I do have containers for them I decided to cut the 1.5 cubic ft bag of dirt in half and use just use the bag for the container. Takes up less space and why not?
If you do this be sure to poke holes for drainage first.
So happy with the tomatoes.

The mustard is blooming so I will have mustard
seeds for caning.

I made a bamboo thing to attract bees, hope it works

Potatoes doing great!

Inside the covered garden. I have 3 of them now.

And Potatoes blooming YAY!
That is it for today. Wishing all of you a very nice Saturday

Paint Party Friday 5/21

 Greetings!
It's Paint Party Friday already. My weeks are flying by.
Today I overdid it in the garden and my back was screaming at me. I know, I know, I just can't be lifting things
like I use to.
I feel better now after a nap. OMG! a nap in the middle of the day. No one knows how much I hate getting old.
Subject change. LOL
Before the nap I thought maybe some time in the art room just playing with paint I have on the palette.
This is what came about.
Then I loaded up my brush with some black, closed my eyes and went for it.

With this I see several animals that I can develop.
I will finish it tomorrow.
Be sure to stop by PPF to see all the art there.

T Stands for Muffins

 Greetings!

Today is T for Tuesday over at Elizabeth's blog.
Be sure to stop by there to see what the T-gang has been doing all week.
I did a drawing of a blogging friend Luiz that lives in Brazil.
He emailed me a photo of himself and I did my best to make a likeness. BTW if you want to see the beauty of his country you need to check out his blog.

Other art is on the table but I am slow to finish it.
This week Mr. M. got spice muffins. I have mentioned before that he doesn't like raisins. So I put those little tid-bits in my muffins only. These are huge muffins. Mr. M. is on a roll with bringing home new mugs for me. I think one or two of you have this mug also.

This last week I wanted soup. Sooooo.... I took leftover veggies from the fridge, 2 types of frozen squash from last years garden, onion, celery, and some home caned veggie broth and tomato base and made the best green soup.

I think it is the best soup I have ever made.
Do you make home made soups?

Wishing all of you the best day.
