T is for ???

Hi Everyone!

Today T is for a new way of life.
I had to make a run to the grocery store yesterday, ya know at 6:30AM.  It's so different now, I shop for what I can get rather than what we need. Ohhhh and prices! I don't know if you are experiencing the price rise but here it is staggering. Prices always go up in the summer for the tourist, but this is  different. With rationing, no paper goods, VERY VERY little meat, and hit or miss on everything else. I was able to finally get tomato sauce, and the last jar of yeast. 2 bags of pasta and 2 bags of rice. I wish I would remember to take photos when I go shopping. LOL I did get flour, baking soda and powder, salt, and oil. All rationed. Anyway...... this is our new life and surprisingly we are really doing OK.  How are you doing? Are you still staying inside or have you decided that going out is the way for you? Let me know.
Mr. M. has a sweet tooth. Ya know he is one of those guys that can eat any thing and not gain a pound. This is for him spice coffee cake with a crusty spice topping and a cuppa coffee.

It's sad to hear that, Nicole. I hope things get better soon, all across the globe, so everything can get to normal. 😏

I get out about once a week, never more often, for groceries. Paper goods are still hard to find here, and I haven't been able to get yeast or nonfat dry milk at all. Meat is sometimes limited in how much we can buy but sometimes not. There's no rhyme or reason to it. I haven't had breakfast, so I'll join you in a virtual piece of that delicious-looking coffee cake :) Happy T Tuesday!

Yes, I've noticed prices on food are higher in VA also and still scarce on paper products.
I'm getting out and rejoining the world more each day. Take care & enjoy your week!

Prices up here too, and NO yeast anywhere! Guess I’ll have to make a starter of my own.

We’ve been in lock down for three months, but the peak for COVID is just starting here,, Nicole. So I think we’ll be in lock down for at least two more months. We don't have rationing though and most things are readily available. So that makes it more bearable. I'm glad you wete able to get the essentials.

Happy T-Day! Eileen xx

Not as bad here, but yes, that´s how it must´ve been in East Germany. Be happy you get SOMETHING at the stores.

I still stay in most of the time although I did see my daughter and Granddaughter for the first time since lockdown on Saturday for a 'distanced' walk outside. It is flour that I have trouble getting, I've only managed to get it once. Paper products seem to be ok again. I usually get the click and collect shop but quite often the fresh stuff isn't as fresh as I would like. A lot of things are opening on July 4th so we'll see what happens then. Enjoy your week.

I'm still staying inside, even though Connecticut US is in Phase 2 re-open mode, which means 50% capacity can dine inside restaurants, etc. I saw pork at a phenomenal price, so I didn't buy it. If prices are high, I'll go without, because I can't afford it. Happy T-Day!

I live in the UK and we've had shortages of certain foods and goods too but most things are now readily available again in our Supermarkets 😁. The coffee cake looks delicious with the crusty spice topping. Wishing you a wonderful week and a Happy T Day! Take care! Hugs Jo x

I have decided not to be afraid any more. we are in our 70s, so I always carry a mask in my purse in case of crowded areas. This morning I did a little food shopping and very few people out so I picked a good day.
Your cake looks delicious Happy T hugs Kathy

My apologies for visiting so late. My internet went out last night, then came back on again, only to go out a second time. It often happens when it rains, but it's been so dry here, I didn't realize it would be a problem.

I haven't been off my property since March 15. This virus scares me silly. My friend Scott grocery shops for me. He calls when he gets to Aldi and walks the store as I tell him what I need. I noticed a few things were more expensive and a few things had limits on them. Other than that, I try to buy the same things each time he goes. I don't buy meat, because I'm a vegetarian, but that's not a problem with me. I've noticed bread is more expensive, though. I don't bake so that's not a problem.

My friend Sally went to Sam's (wholesale club with WalMart brands) and bought FOUR containers of cat litter for me. No limit and they were cheaper than they had been in the past. I guess it depends on what you purchase, but that was back in mid-April when she went.

Your husband is lucky that you love to bake. That coffee cake looks good with his coffee. I'm sure it made him happy, too.

Thanks for sharing your knowledge of higher prices on food supplies and your lovely coffee cake and coffee with us for T this Tuesday, dear Nicole.

I do go out on occasion but stay out of big crowds. I'm out shopping for fun and only going out when I really need something. I have noticed increased prices but my last store visit ( I only go every week or week and a half) supplies weren't too bad. It's crazy, isn't it? Your coffee cake looks yummy. I have a sweet tooth also. Hope it was a good T day. Hugs-Erika

Wow! That is awful that you are having such a hard time getting food. We had a lot of rationing at the beginning of all this but things seem to finally be settling down and I have noticed less rationing.
We have decided to live our lives so we have no problem with going out and about. Life is too short stay huddled in our home until someone deems the crisis over.
Happy Tea Day,
Kate

Here it depends on what stores you shop. The large chains seem to be out of stock every time we’ve gone. No paper products, flour, yeast,, pasta, sometimes no chicken. A smaller market was better stocked. They limited the paper products. One package TP per person. Not always the brand I usually buy, but happy to have it. In the beginning of the quarantine, I shopped online via Instacart. That was a real hit or miss and the prices were a lot higher than the store. We’ve decided to go back to doing the shopping, but I won’t go at the crack of dawn hours. I hate grocery shopping and going at the crack of dawn doesn’t make me love it any better. That coffee cake sure looks good and would be a great reward for grocery shopping. Happy T Day

Hi Nicole. The only time I've gone out is for hospital appointments and our early morning walks. We've got used to food shopping online, and mostly get what we need thankfully.
Hope Mr. M enjoyed his cake, it looks delicious.
Take care,
Alison xx

I'm sorry to hear they had had to ration where you are. Where are you in the world? USA?
Here in Spain we have no shortages and products are available as normal. Even at the start of the lockdown when everyone in the world seemed to stock pile toilet paper, here in rural Spain, those things were not a problem, so I never an out.
There has been a time when flour and yeast we scarce, but even that is now no longer a problem.
I have not noticed any price increases. (that might come though).
Happy belated T-Day,
Hugs,
Lisca

We are not going into shops but have an online delivery each week. At first there were lots of things not in stock but lately more things have been on offer and we very rarely get substitutions. Your coffee cake looks delicious - my hubby is the same as yours!!!Belated Happy T Day! Chrisx
