Happy Paint Party Friday. This has been a dark icky raining week. However, this afternoon the sun came out. I can't tell you what good this does for my well being. LOL It won't last long so I am taking full advantage of it now.

ART EVERYDAY WITH A MEANING 88

Hi Everyone!

I woke up,  got my coffee turned on the TV and the news was on. OMG!!! Has my (the US) country everr been in so much scandalous chaos? Yes there have been other presidents and parties that have riled things up, but this dangerous fiasco is appalling.  Yes I changed the channel. I can't do this first thing in the morning.  YIKES!!

So off to art. Yesterday I finished a gourd face that has been sitting on my table for a very long time.  Cut, cleaned, and painted black. I never have a plan when I create, I almost always have a candle light and some sage or sweet grass burning off to the side and then I just start. When I started decorating this piece it fell together with all the circles. In my tribe the circle has many meanings but the most prominent meaning is symbolic of equality, where no person is better or more prominent than the next. Where each person can speak with acceptance and respect. A circle within a circle represents family ties, and protection. So when I was finished with this it all made sense to me with the climate of my country.

ART EVERYDAY NUMBER 87

Hi Everyone!

I am so glad that I am in creating mode for many reasons. The first is that my stress has come down by levels. LOL I tend to worry about everything! My biggest concern is family of course, next is the holy crap show that is going on in the US government. There is so much chaos, lying, deception that it is difficult to keep up. The bottom line is that this "regime" that has taken over could care less about the county and the people. Ruling a country by threats, hate, and is scary enough but then this quote from historian Timothy Snyder is so profound. “Without truth, we don’t have trust. Without trust, we don’t have the rule of law. Without the rule of law, we don’t have democracy,”   I see my country falling and it the pit is deep and hard to come back from.  Well this isn't what I have in mind to write about, it just came out. So it is time to get the house in order and start creating. 

I am making elliform teeth today. hee hee hee how fun.

MIXED UP MY DAY THIS IS DAY 86

Hi Everyone!

I had my days mixed up yesterday for my Art Everyday. This is actually day 86 of finished pieces of art in 86 days.  I have so many WIP in my art studio that I got confused. ha ha ha not too hard for me. 

This is a half molded leather face surrounded by soft variegated yarn set on a 7x5" black painted canvas. I call him "Nestled in the Grass."

ART EVERYDAY UP TO 86

Hi Everyone!

I am behind in posting for my Art Everyday. I am happy that today makes 86 pieces of art in 86 days. For me this has been a totally flip-of-brain in creating. Not matter what I am doing during the day I make sure that I have time for art. Now for those of you who know me, know that I am a clean freak. Ya know OCD on clean and there has been time for cleaning and art. LOL I might be getting OCD on art????? LOL  So here are days 84, 85, and 86. Hope you enjoy.

Teaching myself to draw is challenging and I like that. It puts my brain in learning mode and I need that too. Ya know with lupus brain fog and old age. LOL

I have not painted in awhile so thought I would work up an abstract.

 I also don't EVER work on small canvases, I wanted to give it a try and find that I like it. This is 7x5" painted in acrylics.

I just can't believe how busy I have been the last few weeks. Part is that we have had two days of sunshine I we made sure we were out of the house doing things. I am also finishes up some projects that I will be showing next week.  Big thanks to Eva and Kristen for hosting Paint Party Friday and to all the artists who show their art.

These are drawings for the week. This puts me up to 83 days of finished art.

 I promise next week I will have something other than drawings.

  In addition, I would love to draw like this maybe some day.

INTRODUCING DANA POWERS BEAD ARTIST

I recently met a very nice lady by the name of Dana. Her energy about beading is infects and I simply had to share her work with you. 

In her own words

My name is Dana Powers I am married and have 2 grown children and 5 awesome grandchildren. I work full time for a Domestic Violence Shelter.

I have been beading for over 10 years. Beading is a form of relaxation for me. Bead embroidering is my favorite form of stitching. I feel as though I am painting with beads. I don't have a pattern and I create as I bead. I may see a color combination or an item that I want to incorporate into my beadwork. I am so fortunate to have beadwork in my life. 

I like using Nicole's BeadBacking foundation to bead on, because it is already colored. I used to dye my own material and it is time consuming and messy.

PAINT PARTY FRIDAY 75 OF 75

Hi Everyone!

Ohhhh partial sunshine today. Thank the gods. We drove to Eugene, OR. to get out of the house and to get even more sun over there. We did the mundane things like go to Winco, ( a grocery outlet store that is very inexpensive and a very nice store) went to the mall to Penney's and Macy's to see if they had any blankets. OMG!!! Both stores carry the same crap blankets at exorbitant prices. Then across town to Bed Bath and Beyond. They also carry the exact two types of blankets that I don't like. I told DH maybe I should start a blanket factory and call it Bad Ass Blankets. LOL Hit the herb store and then the 2 hour drive home. I am whipped. Again I have been so busy this week and S-A-D that I have not yet played with the new molding product. I am doing that this weekend! It is suppose to start raining again tomorrow. uuhhggg..... So for this week my finished pieces are drawings. I have a beaded piece almost finished and will show that next week.

I NEED SUNSHINE 74 OF 74

Hi Everyone!

I am seriously getting depressed with all this dark, dark, dark raining days. Seriously I need sunshine. I am exercising more and dropping Vit D like it is candy to keep me on the up side, but this day after day after day of dark miserable weather is really getting to me.  I know I shouldn't complain with all the bad weather that is happening back East.  

I just need SUN LOL OK enough of that.
