HAPPY HALLOWEEN

Hi Everyone!

Well my three day migraine has ended. Whoaaa it was a bad one.  I should have known with head pain this bad that a big storm was coming in and it has. If it keeps up there will be no kids knocking on doors tonight. With that it is still Halloween, so wishing all of you a fun and safe and witchy knight.

CRAZY WONDERFUL SHOES

Hi Everyone!

It has been a very long time since I have done a shoe post. I have always loved shoes. In my younger day, I wore only very stylish high heel shoes. Some 6 inches. All of my shoes had matching hand bags or purses. Now with lupus feet it is all about flat comfy shoe. Thank goodness for Sketcher memory foam shoes. LOL. With all of that said I probably would not have worn any of these shoes. They are just for fun.
Wishing all of you a happy day.

ITS A BEAUTIFUL STORMY DAY

Hi Everyone!

I guess because we have actually had a summer the last two years here on the Oregon coast, that I am enjoying these stormy days. I woke up to three deer in my yard. Two that come quite often and now a smaller friend. It is a nice way to start my day.
Also rain, storm equals baking. LOL this helps warm up my house and hey we get muffins today.
I had picked some blackberries this summer and froze them. They make for great muffins.
Now I am off to the art room to start a new painting. What are you doing today?
What ever it is make it fun!
This recipe is so easy and you can add any type of fruit. If you want the recipe email me here

Side note. A big thanks to all of you who emailed me for the bread recipe.

INTRODUCING NANCY LEVINE

Hi Everyone!

I am so thrilled with the bead artists who use my NBB and my bead patterns. Nancy Levine is that person. She has beaded up several of my bead patterns and does a beautiful job at it. Her forte is beaded belts and guitar straps. I can't tell you how good it is to see my designs beaded up. Nancy doesn't have a website yet but she is working on it.
I just needed to share some of her art.
In her own words.

Both of my parents believed in “do-it-yourself.” My mother sewed; my dad did home carpentry. So I grew up in an atmosphere of repurposing materials and making your own. Although I am self-taught, I’ve had great models. I began beading in 2005. My sister asked me to go to a local bead store to look for some Delicas she couldn’t find. The rows of tubes with their flashing colors made me suddenly aware of endless possibility. I was hooked. Also, at the age of 60, I had just gotten my ears pierced and couldn’t find anything I wanted to wear. My first pair of earrings were horrible. But I had tasted bliss. I made a necklace to go with the second pair of earrings. From stringing, I moved to making beaded beads and then  to bead weaving. I’ve worked with soutache, bead embroidery, and geometric bead construction. For the past six months, I’ve been focusing on bead looming guitar straps. Twenty years ago I played with a blues band; when I retired from teaching, I began playing again. Making guitar straps and playing acoustic guitar is a perfect way to link two favorite obsessions.

Right now Nancy is in rehab for tendinitis and wasn't able to send more photos. That just gives me a chance for another blog spot for her. Please send healing energy to Nancy so she can get back to what she loves.

Some of Nancy's beadwork.

PPF 10/23 3-D SCULPTURAL ART

Hi Everyone!

I finally finished one of my larger project. I am a pretty humble person. I don't brag or try to make myself larger that I am and I don't to allow "things" to go to my head. However!!!! I am VERY happy with this piece. I loved every aspect of creating it and when the last layer was finished I stood back with a big smile on my face.  It can be hung on the wall but I like it better as table art. This abstract sculpture took about three weeks to create. I wish all of you could see it in person.
The paint and shine looks like glass. I LOVE ABSTRACT....
and showing this first on Paint Party Friday. Thank you Eva and Kristen.
If you have stopped here make sure you leave a comment and then click on the PPF link to see all of the fabulous art from artists around the world.

This is about 19x19x19" round

The tallest part is 8" down to 6", 5", 4"

The tallest curl is 10", down to 8", and  6"

YESTERDAY'S BAKING

Hi Everyone!!

It is still rainy and a bit chilly here and I am fine with that. I will work on my art project today. Another layer of paint and then some airbrushing and I think it will be finished. Yesterday with all the rain I decided to make some bread and a pizza. This recipe is so easy that any one can do it and there is NO KNEADING. I make these mini loaves of bread for deli style sandwiches and the pizza is the best. If you would like the simple and easy recipe just email me here and I will send it to you.
 What are you doing today?

Good for sandwiches or hot with butter!

Before baked

After baked. The crust is amazing.

RAIN ART AND BAKING

Hi Everyone!

It is  a dark pouring rain day.  I am not complaining because we really need the rain. This makes for a great day to do some baking and to create art. I love days like this when everything else is done and I can do just what I want. So the yeast is foaming for some yummy pizza bread, meat and potatoes in the crock pot for Mike and veggie burger meat for me. I have finished one of my table art pieces that I will show next week at PPF. I am very happy with it. I am painting the other big wall piece and should have that done as well.
Wishing everyone a happy day.

I guess you can't see the rain very well in this photo.

PPF PAYING IT FORWARD AND INSTANT KARMA

Hi Everyone!

Another week has whizzed on by. Monday we drove over to Springfield for some food shopping and to check out the grand opening of Hobby Lobby. OK,  I am very aware of how some people feel about Hobby Lobby, so please keep your comments on this matter for another time, thank you. I wanted to see what prices they had in comparison to Michael's and Ben Franklin's.  Remember I have to drive 70 miles one way just to get to these places. I have to tell you that I was highly DISAPPOINTED. The prices on the items that I am interested in were sky high from what I can get them at Michael's. We only stayed maybe 15 minutes in the store then drove a few blocks over to Michael's where we got everything we were looking for at considerable lower prices.  As I was checking out an older woman was trying to buy two books on coupons. The coupons did not cover books. So she opted to only buy one. In the mean time I was taken to the next register. This put the first cashier's back to me. I tapped her should and asked how much that book is the older woman couldn't buy. She said $7.99. I said I will buy it for her. The older woman was amazed and thanked me over and over again. While my cashier was checking me out she said here I have a %50 off coupon for you. I just looked at her with delight and said, "Thank you, it all works out doesn't it?" I was feeling pretty good all the rest of the way home. Do you have a karmic pay-it-forward story? Let me know in the comments below.

I am sharing with Paint Party Friday. Thank you Eva and Kristin.
I have not showed any "car art" lately so here are two piece. These are sketches I do in the car, Makes that drive to town so much better. No I am not driving Ha ha.

THE STRANE AND WONDERFUL ART OF ANTON SEMENOV

Hi Everyone!

We have had some beautiful fall days here. Too nice to get me in the mood to decorate my house with all my Halloween decorations. However, it doesn't stop me from seeking out the weird, hideous art that some are so talented at creating. That would have to be one of my favorite Russian artists Anton Semenov. There is something that touches the human spirit  even though the art seems so unearthly.  Every line, shadow and expression of the characters tell a story. You can see more of this fantastic art here. https://www.behance.net/gloom82

This is some of Anton's tamer art. If you want to see some "out there" art click on the link.

demARTS A GREAT SUCCESS

 Hi Everyone!

I had so much fun at demARTS yesterday!! Rain and wind doesn't usually stop Oregon coast people from getting out and attending events and yesterday was no exception. The turn out was great. FAB (Florence Area Beaders) had a table right at the door so we had a lot of action. We all brought giveaway beads and I brought materials for a make- and- take bracelet or necklace. I was happy that we had adults and kids to join in. The highlight was my good friend Maree Beers and her partner giving us a showing of the stage production of "Chicago". Maree is also one of our FAB members.
demARTS was a great success.
I was so busy I didn't have time for many photos. But here are the few I got.
If you have a demARTS type program in your area sign up for it or take the time to visit the artists in your area. Promoting local art and artists empowers communities.

Love that mom and son did it together.

Mark took photos all day and was kind enough to take the photo us. Thanks Mark

Maree Beers getting ready to sing for us.

This sample performance was simply amazing. Can't wait for the show next month.

FAB GROUP AND demARTS

Hi Everyone!

I had another fun fun time with the ladies of FAB (Florence Area Beaders) even though we don't have an official bead group any longer it has turned out to be a group of amazing women bringing in art, snacks and great friendship. One thing that we are doing this year is demArts. Many artists in our area set up for two hours each to share about their particular art. For us FAB ladies it will be all about beads. We have a make-and- take project and lots of show and tells. If you are in the Florence, Or area stop by our Public Library between 10AM and 4:30PM.
The FAB ladies will be showing from 12:15PM to 2:15PM.
 Hope to see you there!!!

PAINT PARTY FRIDAY EARLY

Hi Everyone!

I know I am mega early for PPF but I am so busy and this is the time I have to post. I have meetings all day and even one tonight. So Here are a few pieces that I have done over the summer.
Thanks to Eva and Kristin for hosting Paint Party Friday and take some time to see what all the other artists have created.

This is a bowl and flower sculpted from leather. I made this for my daughter.

I don't know if I have shown this on PPF but it is highly textured, acrylic and gold leaf.

Just having fun with a molded face, African Porcupine quills, texture and acrylics

This piece came from using the left over paints on my palate. I am really happy with this piece.

LOVE MY ART PROJECTS

Hi Everyone!

I so love art!!!!!! I love that it changes and moves and makes me think inside and outside of my little box. LOL I am working on an up scaled version of my sculpted leather and plaster tiles. I am so thrilled with what I am doing. I have spent the last two days just sanding this project. This afternoon I finally got it all smooth and silky feeling. I stepped back to look at all my hard work and thought....... hmmmm I don't like this, it has lost all of it's character. So I brought it back inside and put some lines and ridges back into it. Tomorrow a very light sanding and the painting begins. I would love to show you a photo of it but I don't want to spoil the surprise when I post the finished piece. Instead I will show you this very old painting done by my Nan. I think somewhere in the 1970s.
Wishing all of you a very nice Monday.

ANNIVERSARY

Hi Everyone!

Well it is official. Mike and I celebrated our 34th year of being together! I am surprised at how fast it has gone by. For the last few years we have been going up coast to Depot Bay, Oregon to the best restaurant in Oregon. Well the best for us. It is Tidal Raves. It sits overlooking the most amazing ocean views. We were so lucky to get a window seat. The day had been overcast and misty with wet ocean air. While we were waiting for our food the sun poked through and the waves looked like diamonds floating. Then to pay us a visit a whale came to wish us a happy anniversary. Can't get much better than that.
If you are ever on the Oregon coast you have to stopped in at
Tidal Raves for the best meal you will have.

Note; these are not my photos. Taken from Google.
