PAINT PARTY FRIDAY FIRST ABSTRACT PAINTING

Hi Everyone!
I am posting early.
OK so don't laugh..... this is my first abstract painting. As I mentioned before I am spending the next year on at least getting good at abstract art. I knew it would be difficult, especially for me, but wow it is even more difficult than I imagined. I got some good tips from my friend Lynn Lindley  and after playing with paint on my Nicole's BeadBacking I tried on a small canvas. This is what I came up with. Be kind in your comments this is my first one. LOL  Sooo different from painting still life.

First abstract in acrylics on a 14x10" canvas

After last weeks PPF and my cement art. I received a special order on one. This has already been sent off to the buyer. This is a 12x12"

Here is a close up of the texture.

A big thanks to Eva and Kristin for hosting Paint Party Friday. I encourage you to check out all the other wonderful artists who participate.

Abstracts can be a lot of fun to paint! Yours is wonderful! A lot of very nice combinations of elements. The cement art you did is really neat too, I love the texture.

I do not know what makes me like particular abstract art and be oh hum about others. I think it would be difficult to make a good one! You should do more of the cement art obviously as you already have sold one! Great works for this PPF! Patsy

Good for you! I think abstract is hugely difficult. I know I would rather paint a portrait than an abstract because I can't get my brain wrapped around abstract - at all. I'm totally impressed with your first one and am looking forward to many more!

No laughter from me! I like these lines and shapes of color! I'm excited to watch what this becomes for you over time.
Wonderful that you've sold your textured art piece!

Ah! I just realized I looked at the wrong post! And I even read what you said about the wrong link, but it didn't connect in my head for some reason. Anyway, I found it in the end.
I love the abstract you've done. It's full of so much energy! Can't wait to see what you come up with next :)

Both pieces are wonderful. I like the colors of the abstract very much. It will be fun watching your technique develop over the next year. I know I will learn a lot from you about abstracts. Congratulations on your sale.

Abstract is much harder than it looks, isn't it? You did a great job!! I highly recommend Robert Burridge's DVDs, if you're looking for an abstract teacher. He is awesome!! I learned a lot from him.
