RHODY DAYS IN FLORENCE OR

Hi Everyone!
It's Rhody days in Florence. Rhody for Rhododendron. You have never in your life seen so many Rhododendrons than in Florence OR. So every year there is a parade, craft show, carnival rides, and bikers come from all over to show off their bikes. Old town, which is a small area located on the river with food, shops and lots of beer takes on the bulk of people that come to Florence for this weekend. There is an awesome old car show too. So what do I do on this weekend???? Stay home and bead. LOL I live walking distance to Old Town so I get quite a show of bikes and cars that drive by my house. There are just tooooo many people,  and tooooo much traffic for me.
I did have a very nice morning talking to Dawn Marie on the phone. She helped me out with FB. You know that social network that I dislike so much. However, after Dawn walked me through it all I may just end up liking it... a little..... LOL
If you don't know who Dawn is then you are truly missing out on knowing a wonderful lady. Click on the banner to visit her blog and be sure to tell her Nicole sent you.

So yesterday I created this necklace and today finished the strap and dangles. Ahhhh the dangles are died African porcupine quills. I love this piece!!! I will have a hard time parting with this one. It looks fabulous on!!! I snap these shots in the dull light of a cloudy Florence day. Ohhh like that is such an oddity here LOL

Hope all of you are having a great weekend.

Great work there Nicole. Uh....if you don't like crowds , you definitely won't care for FB. I was a member over a year ago and just did not care for the amount of people. It's like they are grabbing at you and won't leave you be. For me, it's a no no. You can always try it out, and if you don't like it just quit. You can go back any time. Have a great Sunday.

It looks great, but.......did you clip off the ends of the quills? I mean I had more than one quill in the tip of my fingers and I can tell you that it hurts. But it's a fabulous piece, the colors and all! Love it!

Thank ladies. Daggi African quills are quuite different than US porki quills the ends that you see just need a bit of filing down. The are not barbed.

I'm not a beader and I didn't know that you can actually use porcipine quills in beading. I'm glad I know now and I very much like the way it looks in your beautiful piece.

Nicole..you big chicken...LOL!! I do however belong in the cope with ya. We live in a coastal town full of tourist and all kinds of things to do and WOW the crowds can get a bit overwhelming at times. Hard on a small town but I wouldn't live anywhere else ^_^

I LOVE the new necklace and I can see why you are going to have a hard time parting with it. It is a beauty and very unique.

Beautiful colors--like a Sedona sunset!

HMMMmmm so where are some rhody pics?
I have one in my yard not blooming yet.
I like the colors of the necklace, bright and summery. It is hard to gauge size in the picture, can you help with that? Those quills look long and dangerous. For a chubby gal like me, I'd probably spear my tummy! LOL
Hugs,
Susan

PS, we do not go to the island in the summer either...too many tourists, I do not even like going to the grocery store etc, and let's not talk about the way they drive!! LOL
