Hi Everyone!
We had the storm of the century last night. My poor dog was so afraid of the thunder that we actually had to move her bed into our bedroom. It is still raining but the winds have slowed up.

So this A.M. I open my email with a reminder that it is time to vote for the 8th international Ugly Necklace Contest over at Land of Odds. This link is for the 8 finalists and voting. Now it is stated that it's not easy to create ugly, and I have to agree with that. ( Even though I have come up with some UUUUgggglllyyy pieces in my time.) However, for a contest I find a distinction between creating ugly and just throwing things together. I know I will hear some slack on this but that is how I feel. I voted for a gal that followed the criteria, and actually created ugly. Hope she wins. Go see for yourself and be sure to vote. It is all in fun anyway.

You are right there is a difference between creating ugly and just throwing stuff together. I voted and I can't believe how much work went into UGLY!

I loved Lynn Margaret Daly's piece about Beading and turning purple when you're old. Really made me laugh because I'm 62 and she's not far off. Thanks for the post today. Also, I agree about just throwing "things" on a string and calling it ugly. I entered in 2006 and was beat out by a necklace put together with things from the artist's garbage. ow. - Marlene

I keep telling myself I am going to enter that contest, and as soon as I get an extra 4 hours in my day I'm going to. Maybe next year. Thanks for the head's up~ I'm off to vote!

I found it easy to vote for someone, once I decided to follow ALL the criteria- break the beading rules, use purple as the main color focus, be UGLY! Bet we voted for the same person!

awe. your poor puppy! I can remember my cats running up and down the stairs and bouncing off the back of the couch when the thunder would roll. I really miss those big storms that would light up the sky all night long. I haven't really seen many of those since I moved from the Midwest.

Thanks for reminding me about this contest. It would be interesting to enter but I just don't have that many ugly beads...
