MY GRAND BABY

OK, so she is only a baby to me. This is my Granddaughter. She is not only pretty, but smart too. She is graduating from high school with honors. She was awarded two scholarships for college and has her life pretty planned out. Through out high school she belong to the ROTC, so before college, she will be going to boot camp for the Air National Guard. I am so proud of her I can hardly stand it.






Our children are our future. Keep them safe, keep the strong, keep them educated.

Life Time Dream

Hello all.

Most of you know that I am an out doors girl. Living remote off the land, fishing, bow hunting, and wild-crafting for herbs and mushrooms. My younger brother, Pat, taught me a lot of what I know about archery and fishing. I think he picked up a fishing pole when he was 2 or 3 years old. It is funny about dreams. For most people they don't just come out of the blue. It takes years of hard work and then, one day, the dream comes true. That is how it is with Pat. All of his hard work, raising his children, and making some difficult changes, and he has his dream; living and fishing in Lakeside, Montana!!!! TOHO BEAD CHALLENGE

There are A LOT of beaders in my town of Florence, OR. For that matter the whole state has a pretty remarkable number bead hobbyist and bead artists. However, my very good friend Charmaine Psnell is one of the 4 finalists in the Toho Bead Challenge. The day I saw the finished piece at her home I stopped in my tracks. All I could do was stare while goose bumps ran up my arms. The art piece is beyond stunning. I can't divulge the photos I took, not yet anyway. We are so proud and happy for Charmaine. IT IS ALL ABOUT THE BEADS

Rain Rain Go Away

Hi everyone.

As you can see by my title it has been not just raining here, it has been storming!!!!! More like torrential rains and winds that are breaking trees and shaking the house. I am so hoping this weather will end soon because I have been so busy this week out in the weather. NOT FUN!!!!

I start a boardwalk show next weekend and am praying for sun.

Bead Museum

Hello everyone.

For those of you who don't know this about me, I have been a speaker on the history of beads for some 25 years. For me there is a pure path of who we are as a species by the beads of the past. So on my recent trip to Arizona I stopped in to visit the Bead Museum in Glendale. Before I go further I need to say that when the Bead Museum resided in Prescott, Arizona I was almost a fixture there. So when I say that I was disappointed by my visit I do have something to compare. I was excited as Mike and I pulled up the to large beautiful building. However, the excitement ended there. We were actually treated a bit rudely at the door, ordered to the bead store to pay for entry to the museum side of the building. Once we paid and were allowed entry I was immediately stuck at the lack of lighting. It was a dull cramped atmosphere. Displays were difficult to see by pulling out drawers that hit other drawers set too close together. I was disappointed in the whole experience not by the beads of course. Even with how I feel about my visit I do believe that we NEED the Bead Museum! It is a part of our story, a past that connects us to a future.
