Really?

 Hi Everyone!

I would like to know what effin' world these people live in?  Oh, I forgot for a minute. The mega rich world.
Today I speaking about Brook Rollins, who's net worth is about 15 million. The latest BS from her and RFK Jr is to flip the food chart and to tell the American people they can eat a meal for $3.00.
I will get to this clarification in a minute.
First in 1992 the USDA put out this food chart. Making a pyramid eating foods from the bottom up.
See a problem here? Another subject about the food industry in our country. I will tackle this one in a later post. Just a note though, the US government subsidizes farmers to grow certain crops to produce processed foods that "they" make sure are on our tables.
Back to the rich who don't do their own shopping and certainly don't eat what everyday Americans eat and don't have a clue what food costs.
In 2005 another chart was introduced.
The same BS as the first one, only in a different style.
Do they think we are stupid?
Rollin's said and I quote, "A budget-friendly meal could include "a piece of chicken, a piece of broccoli, a corn tortilla, and one other thing, would cost about $3.00."
She didn't specify what the one other thing would be. She said that the USDA ran over 1,000 simulations to come up with this meal. Really? Would she eat this? Never once did they think to include or even interview actual Americans. It's just another one of the "thing's" economic illiteracy that will hurt the American people trying to stretch a dollar to feed their families.
Because these numbers will cut the SNAP program even further and monies to Food Banks.
The "thing" who has assembled the wealthiest cabinate in US history,
( you can see it here) has said that it's best to take economic advise from a rich person. This is moronic, since rich people don't know what real life is all about. The "thing" has said that American people should sacrifice and buy less stuff. Has to do with his tariffs, that affects food.
After the backlash Rollin's received over her obtuseness, she came back with this statement. Her regret was not emphasizing "robust" enough explaining she meant "LARGE pieces of chicken and broccoli, plus other items like a baked potato or bread to meet daily calorie need. She clarified that simulations showed meals meeting the guidelines could cost $15.46 per day, emphasizing the affordability of components like poultry, beans, potatoes and frozen vegetable."
Sooooo she wants people to eat one meal a day? (snarky)
Is there proof?
Based on reports from January 2026, there is
no publicly released, detailed data or raw documentation verifying the "1,000 simulations" mentioned by Rollins to prove her $3-per-meal claim. I think in her brain stumped head that was a good number to go with.
The Wall Street Journal did their own shopping in Boston and New Orleans and found they could achieve a "Rollin's" meal.
Notice how small this plate is? Personally I wouldn't eat this.
Not served like this anyway.
Critics argue that the simulations likely use UNREALISTIC or highly specific, low-cost scenarios (e.g., buying single items rather than bulk) that do not reflect the reality for the average, time-crunched American consumer.
I don't know about you but in my stores I can't buy just one piece of chicken.
A USDA spokesperson did not respond to direct questions regarding how these 1,000 simulations were actually conducted, according to a report from January 21, 2026.
Independent price checks in lower-cost areas (e.g., Omaha, NE) suggest that while individual servings of these ingredients can mathematically equal roughly $0.50–$1.00, critics argue these "simulations" ignore the reality of bulk purchasing requirements and food accessibility.
In my town prices are ridiculously high. I'm very frugal and on a tight food budget, I wish I could feed us for NE prices. I have to drive to Eugene to shop at Winco where the prices are at least half of the 2 grocery stores here. I guess what I'm trying to say is, this administration will say, (lie) do anything to hurt the American people and do it with a smile.

 Done ranting for the day

  2. Someone needs to make a documentary of Rollins eating that $3 meal 3x per day for a week. Just a week, not a month or anything. I'm not a sadist.

  3. Dear Nicole. This is an interesting post about such unrealistic simulation. Actually, richer people don't understand that higher prices of food may affect people. How can someone eat for € 3.00? In Rome and its surroundings prices are high too. I think price of food and beverage have increased by 30 % since 2023.
And Trump's tariffs on some foods, such as pasta, olive oil and wine, is damaging both US and the EU. Many jobs will be lost in the catering sector.
That unrealistic simulation shows that the "thing" and his government always lie.
    Take care, Nicole

  6. Rant away, girl! If enough people do that, maybe we will be saved.

  7. We just had to change our diets again so that my daughter eats a more Lupus friendly diet. The Lupus is kicking her butt right now and she's a lot of pain. Healthy food costs more than highly processed junk foods. The rich have no idea what or how the average American eats or can afford to eat. If any of them went into a grocery store and saw what the prices really are they would probably be shocked.

  8. I am convinced they are all insane. And bringing us down with them. Have at it, rant-wise. You aren't alone.

  9. This current administration is ridiculous. Not a single one knows what they are doing.

  10. Basically they put out a food pyramid that was around in the 1950s. Ridiculous. Listening to them is like going to see a magician when you need a doctor.

  11. That food doesn't look appetizing anyway. Food is expensive down here too.
Politicians haven't got a clue as to how much food costs an average person unless they have just been elected then they might know, depends if they had money before elected.
    Life is hard sometimes.

  12. Maybe Trump will start to eat like this instead of a Big Mac and fries. Try to get that for $3.00.

  13. I made avisit to the grocery this week, ground beef is nearly $10 a pound (and that is the higher fat ratio version)

  14. When was the last time any one of them shopped in a grocery store and cooked for themselves? I recall Barack talking about shopping at Target and living in a small apartment when he was first elected to Congress, he understood, because he had lived it first hand. The Target at Potomac Yard, used to open after hours for Michelle to go shopping while they were living in the White House.

  15. Do you know the song “The preacher and the Slave?” (https://genius.com/Joe-hill-the-preacher-and-the-slave-lyrics)

One verse here is so apt:

You will eat bye and bye
In that glorious land above the sky (Way up high)
Work and pray, live on hay
You'll get pie in the sky when you die (That's a lie!)

….the song was a favorite of my father’s. He was a leftie in the 1930s.

  16. Well said. Some people don't know what it means to tell the truth. I am so disgusted every day.

  17. Feel free to rant! Believe me there is plenty to rant about and you do it well. The dietary recommendations is not the worst of their ravings. How about cutting the vaccines for kids, including the measles vaccine which we are already having outbreaks of even though it was thought to be eradicated. And if you look at other area's of interest, like the Department of Justice, they have decimated it. I could go on and on, but I will spare you as I know you are already well aware of what is happening. I am hoping for solutions ... demonstrating is good (Until ICE shows up and starts shooting people), but it doesn't really solve the problem. So, I am guessing we will have to wait until the election in November to get control of Congress (that has been sitting on their hands since the beginning of "the thing's" term). A lot of damage can be done in that time ... I am at a loss 😝

  19. Rant away, my friend - you (we) have a lot of reasons to rant. This food pyramid actually looks kind of harmless to the flipped over one that they are "offering" us now - eat more beef! Goodness!!! Yes, food prices are really bad. I'm glad that we have a Trader Joe's here, good quality and relatively okay prices (but also much more expensive than it used to be). If I have to pay so much money in the grocery store, I'd rather shop local and go to the farmers market - I get my veggies, fruit and meat there, and it's better than in the stores (incl. Trader Joe's). Plus, I know where it comes from. These politicians really have no idea about food prices and probably haven't been in a grocery store for years. And where, please, do I get a single tortilla???

  20. Yes, rant away, Nicole! You're spot on! Everything continues to go up at the grocery store. The only $3 meal I can think of is for Terry and I to split a can of kidney beans and add a tortilla each, but I'd have to buy a package of tortillas. I try to spend money only on real food, and I screen for sugar, salt, fat, and unpronounceable words (Okay, I do get some ice cream. 😂). It's challenging and expensive.
