Welcome To Friday Face OFF (FFO)
This is the place to show off your face art.
You
know, ANY type of face, nature, the face of a flower, Photography,
drawings, paintings. There just needs to be a face in your blog post.
I have decided to have another challenge. You will have plenty of time to get this one finished.
The challenge is to create a portrait of anyone you want. It can be your family, friends, actors, faces you find on the internet, or a perfect stranger that will allow you a photo to work from and to show with your portrait. You can work in any medium, except photography and you have until Friday January 30, 2026. Make it fun and let's see what you come up with.
Before I get started with my art this week I want to share with you what Mr. M. ordered for me. It's a Global pencil case.

I'm very impressed with this product. The zipper is heavy duty and the entire case is very well made.
This week I have a colored pencil piece that I created. I am enjoying the pencils very much and finding all that can be crated with them.
This is the original piece

I love the intensity of his eyes and his broken nose. There are so many different techniques with the pencils. The guy above is light touches and some hatches.
I showed this next photo in any earlier post. It is created with many layers going in different directions. The darker the color the more layers and a bit more pressure.
No AI today. I want to get right into all of the amazing portraits that were posted last week for the Self Portrait Challenge.

I put too many boxes in, and since it is one single grid I can't change it.
I just want to say that each and every one of you talented artists outdid yourselves with the Self Portraits. I'm honored to know all of you, even if it is in blogland. All of you inspire me to create better.
I hope you had fun with this and that you will join in the next Challenge.
Now, it's time to show me your next face.
Nicole

Your portrait is another great one, Nicole. You are the one who inspires me!
ReplyDeleteUh-oh, I had the feeling that you would come up with another challenge...
I really liked the self-portrait challenge and it was good for me to step outside my comfort zone. Now I have to think of this new challenge.
Oh your colored pencil set is awesome and Wow to the portraits you did and I admire all those who did portraits ~ Bravo to all ~ hugs,
ReplyDeletean artist reflects
It's great to put your coloured art pencils in a case where you can see and find them easily at a glance. I keep mine in a case similar to that as well. Your coloured pencil art this week is super! And yes, what an interesting mug that guy has!
ReplyDeleteOMG, I just thought of who I want to do for your next portrait challenge! This will be fun!
ReplyDeleteLovely piece!
ReplyDeleteWe sure do have Hubbies who support our arty interest! Yippee!
ReplyDeleteCool idea to use those colors for a face! Two!!!!
Yesterday I sadly could not sketch...
An amazing product. Makes artwork even more beautiful.
ReplyDeleteBravo pour toutes les contributions des uns et des autres avec ces portraits. Sinon je comprends Nicole cette envie d’utiliser au plus vite cette magnifique boîte qui ouvre de formidables perspectives de dessins
ReplyDeleteReally nice works dear Nicole. A good challange. I am not so talented in drawing.
ReplyDeleteHave a good time
Violetta
I enjoyed seeing everyone's art including yours and your new case.
ReplyDeleteHappy FFO! Happy Friday Nicole! first I would like to thank you so much for featuring my artwork along with all the other talented and incredible artists. I am so grateful and appreciative. Second I would like to say thank you so so much for hosting FFO and sharing your beautiful artwork with us. You are incredible and I really love your portrait art so much. I learn so much from you each day. I love your pencil case! It is wonderful! Thank you again so much for everything. This art community is so amazing and wonderful. I always look forward to FFO. Have a wonderful Friday and a lovely wonderful weekend! Hugs, Maria
ReplyDeleteI love those color pencil sketches. I really love the abstract one, as I have mentioned before.
ReplyDeleteI may have to try to do my portrait of someone else in colored pencil.
You are really rocking those colored pencils. They look amazing. And it's great to see everyone's self portraits they did. I shared mine this week, late, but if I'd known I wouldn't have done a final piece this week I could have posted my rough sketch last week. :) Hope you don't mind me being late. hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteThe portrait of the guy is really a close match. You do amazingly way and have adapted to the color pencils quite well. I have pencil case similar to yours except mine has a floral pattern. It's so much easier to have them in the case verses the metal tin they came in. DH got me one of those large sets of Prismacolors many years ago. What is really neat is DH told me about these pencils 30+ years ago as these are the kind of color pencils he usess on the electrical drawings.
ReplyDeleteI don't have any art up today. I got off track with Thanksgiving prep and trying to get some future posts set up that I didn't have time to do any faces. I will need try to correct this but don't hold your breathe. It's going to be challenging.
By the way, everyone did a standup job with their self portraits. This community has so much talent to share and I am happy that y'all let me be apart the experience. :) Have a doodletastic weekend, darlin'!
...Nicole, I LOVE your three faced person! I've of being two faced, but three. Take care and be well.
ReplyDeletethanks
ReplyDeleteDear Nicole, your new pencil case is a DREAM – it's absolutely beautiful what Mr. M. ordered for you! When I was a child in Austria, we had "normal" colored pencils and – as a "luxury" option – JOLLY – those were the REALLY GOOD colored pencils. I always dreamed of Jollys. When I was 6 years old, I got a small Jolly colored pencil set with 10 colors – and I always spent my pocket money on individual pencils in special shades (gold, silver, skin tone, turquoise, etc.) until one day I finally got the ultimate 36-color Jolly set. One of the most wonderful gifts ever! 😊❤️🧡💛💚💙💜
ReplyDeleteThe guy with the broken nose is great – and your portrait of him is a hit! The "layers in different directions" portrait is very artful, too.
I would have loved to participate in the portrait challenge. So many beautiful portraits were created, I'm thrilled! I simply don't have the time right now because I want to make progress with my vacation photos (photo editing, blog posts, and creating a photo book). I had already prepared a photo to draw a portrait of, but I didn't know where I could fit it in time-wise... Sorry. But maybe I'll manage it sometime after Christmas when I have a quiet moment, who knows?
All the best and a wonderful Advent season 🕯️✨❣️, Traude

You did really amazing on that guy's face! He does have an interesting face full of character. Can see the other techniques used for deeper color in the many faced one.
ReplyDeleteSuch a nice pencil case. What a sweet hubby!! :)
It was great to see all the portraits all together. Thanks for doing that.
May your day be delightful! :)
Son todos los dibujos magnÃficos. Un abrazo a todos
ReplyDeleteYou've done a great job with those pencils. It's one thing that I've never really got on with, maybe you'll inspire me to try again.
ReplyDeleteYour three-faced drawing is, wow! I like seeing everyone's faces as well.
ReplyDeleteHi Nicole! I like the cool pencil case Mr. M got for you, and love that you're playing with colored pencils. Your colorful portraits are amazing. I finally did a self-portrait, although it's not my best work. Thanks for sharing everyone's beautiful self-portraits from last week's challenge. Blessings, my friend!
Grande abraço carioca e do Brasil.
ReplyDeleteGreat collection of images from familiar people, now could be familiar faces.
ReplyDeleteThis sound like fun.
ReplyDeleteI loved seeing these all together. I'll have to give the January one a try!
