Wednesday Post Food

 Hi Everyone!

I learned how to do this on NightCafe and I love it!!!!

My garden is pretty much done. I cut the last of the yellow squash and cucumbers today.
These are from last week in the middle of a storm. They are huge. I ate one yesterday, oh so sweet.

Now, growing tomatoes here is difficult. However, for some reason I have a Roma tomato plant taking off. These fell of in my hand during the storm.
 Fried green tomatoes?

And today there are 24 tomatoes
on the plant.
Must be a cold weather plant. Ha ha ha

The other night I made kidney friendly roasted chicken, potatoes from the garden soaked for 24 hours before cooking, and home canned peas.

For Dessert, a kidney friendly home canned pears and strawberry preserve Streusel cake.
It was going to be a plumb cake but my canned plumbs were to mashy. I used them for a smoothy. I had some pears and the preserves and it worked out even better.
I can't tell you how good this was. I just threw ingredients together. No recipe.

Also I have been using my steamer almost everyday. I highly recommend this.

Since Mr. M. doesn't like soup. I made myself a rich potato soup. I added fetta cheese, so good.

Well, I guess that's it for now. I have a poblano casserole in the over that's ready to come out.

Wow, that NightCafe art is really striking, such a unique visual, isn't it? It's always a little sad when the garden winds down, but those last cucumbers and squash look huge and perfectly sweet. Twenty-four tomatoes on one plant is fantastic, especially when Romas are difficult, maybe it really is a cold weather plant. The kidney-friendly meal looks delicious and so thoughtfully prepared, and that pear and strawberry streusel cake sounds absolutely amazing, sometimes throwing ingredients together with no recipe is the best way to cook. Enjoy that poblano casserole.

Your food is so good! I definitely will order the chicken, mash peas dish when I drop in.

We have a delish potato soup. Most ingredients come pre-packaged, but not the chicken, of course. 😀

My garden is done too. Sadly my brussel sprouts, which I was hoping to nurse along for another month, ended up full of nasty caterpillars eating them away. :( Your crops look great though. Lucky you to still have tomatoes. And I've been in the mood to make some soup too, even if my hubby isn't a fan either. Happy mid-week. hugs-Erika

Dumb question: Are those tomatoes ripe? I sure watched the movie "Green Tomatoes", but here in Germany I never saw any!
Do they taste different?
To Ingo´s dismay I´m a no-recipe-dude myself... That soup looks yummy! Getting hungry here ("forgot" to have lunch) - hence I go with Gene!
