OMG day in the garden

 Hi Everyone!

A few months ago I planted Black Beauty Eggplants. I have only grown them one other time. All of a sudden, in my big garden, three plants pop up. I'm thinking, "Eggplant?" I go along treating this plant like EP. Trimming the bottom leaves, feeding it and staking it. However, these 3 plants just weren't acting like EP.

And they grew like weeds. hee hee hee
I sent a photo into my garden group to see if anyone knew what it was.
There is an app called Lens that identifies plants. ( No I don't do APPs) One of the ladies wrote and informed me that my EP is actually
Fig Goosefoot.
It is an invasive weed that will take over EVERYTHING if you let it. Just watching these 3 plants grow, I can see how they can take over. I got my tools and dug all three of them up. Then poured boiling water down the hole. Hidden in one of the root/dirt clumps was a goober. You know a shelled peanut. So, I'm thinking the culprit in this is a Raven. The people 2 doors down feed the birds, squirrel and anything else these goobers.
I'm really going to have to watch that bed.
I'm off to watch Echo Valley with Mr. M.
Have a good evening.

LOL, what must they´ve "thought". At first being taken care of and then... BOOM, sudden, brutal death!
Good you have such a group for help!

Goodness! Glad you got rid of the giant weeds!
I have Echo Valley in one of my watchlists. Apple maybe? If I remember it is on the dark side. I think I'll stick with something lighter this week--lol! :)

Maybe they are like Triffids and ambush you too!

Ugh, it is awful to have strange weeds start growing where you were expecting a new plant.

...plants can pop up unexpectedly.

Clearly the weed was enjoying all the TLC you were showering it with!

I'm glad you wrote this because I have a plant that just grew huge in my flower bed. I didn't know what it was so I left it, and a friend says to me, it's growing to well to be a plant you put in there so it has to be a weed. Ha ha. I pulled it all out, and I know what you mean. hugs-Erika
