Friday Face OFF 2/24/23

 Hi Everyone!
Before I get to FFO. I want to show you how much snow we got yesterday. In fact the entire Oregon coast got slammed. The town of Depot Bay got 6" we ended up with 3" I know this is not much compared to other parts of the country but for us, at sea level, this is a big deal. I moved from N. Idaho mainly so I wouldn't have to deal with snow.  :) Thank the gods we don't get it often here.
The trees in my back yard.
2 quick clips of the snow falling.

Well enough of that. Hopefully this will end soon.
Now for FFO. This is the place to link back, link up and leave comments. All about faces. Any kind of face in any medium.

I have several natural grapevine hoops to make all sorts of thing with, but I am making witches bells for my show. These are made to protect a home. You place it on a door nob. I made one for myself and put a bit of a twist on it. Yes, I fixed one of my clay faces to it. I really am very happy with this highly protective piece.

Witches bells can be made in so many different ways. For mine I gathered all sorts of items that mean something to me. From beads, to skulls, to items that belonged to my mom and sister (RIP) to items that represent goodness. As I mentioned I will be making these for my upcoming show, however, I will make them on the simpler side

I drilled a hole on top of the face, then using a ling in a chain I made a bail to fit.

Lots of precious elements incorporated in this piece.

Now for this weeks featured artist.

I use a number generator to pick the featured artist. There is just no way I could make that choice. However, this week I want to show a painting that really touched me. It is done by,

Now it's your turn to show me your face
Thanks for joining in,
Nicole

This door hanging is wonderful. In fact, it is so imaginative, I am going to make one of my own. Thanks for the inspiration, Nicole. I LOVE yours.

I like the use of one of your clay heads on your witch's bell! Makes it even more unique!

Oh, since I work from home and if it wasn´t for Ingo who still has to drive, I even would like snow for... say three days.
Your videos look fluffy :-)
I never heard of Witches bells - great idea.
Especially since I sometimes dream men suddenly are in our condo when Ingo is already gone to work! According to him I dream of this from time to time - they always have a key and say it´s their right to be here. Brrrr..
To a no-strange-men, happy day :-)

Nice work from both you and Monica Nicole, thanks for the feature. The news mentioned the weather in Portland, also that you guys are not used to this.

Hi Nicole,
Thank you for the challenge and the post with your really wonderful bell. I wish it brings you and your house all good things! I suppose you feel better now after your health problems - I really hope so. Happy Weekend xx

lol, how nice to see you liked my greenhaired, bigeyed girl for this week. :)
This is a strange winter for sure. Yesterday my world looked like yours I was walking in a lot of snow. Today it is almost gone again. It comes and goes. I miss the winters when snow was kneehigh and even higher. And it was hard to walk in it. But soo beautiful when, especially, it was sunny.
I like your bells. I read a book lately that these bells would really fit in. :)

You have been busy! Before joining FFO I will try to get this linking mechanism correct. I am sure that I am missing something somewhere!

I love your use of the face in the wreath for the witches bells.

I hope all this snow ends soon too-smile. I know you don't get much in Coastal Oregon so you did get a lot. I don't blame you for wanting it gone. And I haven't heard of witches beads but that's a super idea. I have a lot of little trinkets like you used, and now I know what I can do with them. Let's see if I actually make one-smile again. Have a wonderful end of the week and start to weekend Nicole. Is your face feeling any better Hugs-Erika

Dear Nicole,
yes, climate change makes it possible - in Austria and other classic skier countries we have too little snow, in countries where snow is not or rarely found, it snows or it is at least colder than usual... This year the weather phenomena are increasing more than before.
I didn't know Witches bells before - but your protector looks good.
This time in my blog you can choose whether you prefer faces of birds, a baby sloth, turtles, iguanas or people ;-)
All the best ❤️ Hugs - Traude

Those snow flakes are huge. The birds are calling out that they are trapped inside the trees. Your art is fantastic...again I say FANTASTIC!!

I’m sad I didn’t get a face done this week but I’m enjoying all others! I love the witches balls! Like Elizabeth, I’m inspired!

No snow here in NJ, not one flake yet this year. But memories from my childhood of much snow abound.

You got far more snow that we did. I didn't know about Witches bells. Those are striking.

I'm not familiar with witches bells, though I'm familiar with the cleansing and protective qualities of bells in some traditions.

I felt good to hear your voice in one of the videos :)
Idaho seems really beautiful place but you left it because you didn't want much snow just like me. I think visiting snowy parts is different but living is tough.
I liked your door hangers. Pretty and awesome :)
Health peace and happiness to you and your family
