TADD 9/22

 Hi Everyone!

Today is TADD with Rain. Her theme today is Harvest Dinner. Well I don't really have a harvest dinner but I do have some harvest items from my garden. LOL
I got a great harvest of beans this year. Beans are easy to grow. They don't like much water and then when they start to dry out very little or no water. Not pictured here I also got about 4lbs of pinto beans.
clicking on the photo give you better detail. You just have to click on photo to see them all.

Beans drying out. When they are hard and you can hear the beans rattling inside they are ready to harvest.

However, it started raining so I picked these early.

All of those beans ended up on a rack to dry. You can see how big the beans are inside the hulls.

 These are lima beans.

I think these are speckled kidney beans but I can't remember right now. LOL

Black beans. I got over 2lbs  from one plant.

 Red Kidney beans

I just love the color of these beans. Garcia Bolita beans.

I planted these potatoes late in hopes of a long Indian summer. So far so good.

The last of the lettuce harvest.

The garden is close until next year. Mr. M. and I will put a hoop on top of the big garden box then tarp it off so the rain doesn't spoil the soil inside.

I am happy with this canning session today. Pork Stew and all of the veggies came from my garden. Onions, potatoes, carrots, and celery. It's Quite satisfying.

My daughter is always talking about Frito chili pie. Well I could find a recipe for it so I put together what I though would be good.

Ground beer, rice, beans, home canned salsa and Fritos. Oh and lots of grated cheese. Uhhh yeahhh it was good. My daughter laughed at me and said, "All you need is a good chili and Fritos in a bowl."

Even in the small cassarole dish there was lots left over. So I used it for the filling of Enchiladas the next day.

Ohhh I can't tell you how good these are. Topped with a bit of sour cream.

I had a few carrots and a zucchini from the garden so I made sweet bread and cake. I also had one banana and one apple that I added to the mix.

The bread is in the freezer and the cake is, well all gone. LOL

 It is so moist.

And since this is Thursday Art Dinner Date I will show you a new art display I have in my house. The bouquet has a lot of detail like spiders and snakes and creepy little things. :)

That's it for now.
Please join me tomorrow for Friday Face OFF.
Any kind of face in any medium.

Nicole

I am afraid we wouldn't really know what constitutes a harvest dinner. There's lot of squash around now and we made squash soup. Maybe that qualifies.

It is getting to that time to end the garden season, isn't it? Sad, but in another way at least I am ready. You had a great harvest Nicole. I hope your potatoes get a chance to finish growing for you. Happy first day of fall. hugs-Erika

Your garden inspires me to do much better than I have. I'm ashamed to say I only froze beans and tomatoes-I think I need to get back to canning. Your cooking looks so good! And the bouquet is very creative-I'm not much into Halloween, but I think this is very well done-it could certainly win a prize or be a display in a store. So creative!

I won't say that is a little harvest dear Nicole as these beans from your garden look so healthy. Some of them are called pulses here. I love kidney beans but due to arthritis it is forbidden by the doctor :(

Oh I found your food absolutely amazing and tempting the zucchini carrot apple and banana cake sounds really cool and I want to taste it somehow lol.
Your art bouquet is stunning as well.
Health peace and happiness to you and your family

Dumb question: Would beans grow in balcony beds?
Your food looks super-mega yummy, oh, I love Mexican food! Maybe I try that at home some day! Cause we have no good Mexican restaurant here, can you believe that!

I should learn not to read your post right at dinner time ... I was hungry, now I am starving and for goodies I don't have. How far do you live from me? Your garden has been quite successful and your canning and your baking and that enchilada and even the Frito chili pie looks and sounds good. But I have to say, I am not sure about your bouquet ... looks a little creepy with spiders and all :0 But Halloween is coming so that makes it good ... where do you get black flowers? You are fun Nicole :) Have a great weekend ...
