Movie Monday

 Hi Everyone!

I hope all of you had a wonderful weekend. We got some sunshine and that always makes me feel better.

Today is Movie Monday and I watched a mini series entitled, "The Anatomy of a Scandal"
A brilliant story and something that, I am sure, is based on some truth in many politicians lives. The story is from the book by Sarah Vaughan.
Anatomy of a Scandal (TV Mini Series 2022) - IMDb
A rising-star politician named James Whitehouse (played by Rupert Friend) finds his seemingly perfect life upended when a former employee with whom he had an affair accuses him of sexual assault. The incident almost instantly becomes tabloid fodder and spirals out of control, threatening to consume his marriage, end his career, unearth unpleasant secrets from his years at Oxford, and perhaps even topple his good friend the Prime Minister. While the series is assuredly not based on real-life it should be noted that Vaughan's “Anatomy of a Scandal,” which came out in 2018, was a direct response to the series of sexual misconduct allegations aimed at members of the British Parliament. While Anatomy of a Scandal was released as part of Netflix's April 2022 roster of series, its story is rooted in the rise of the #MeToo movement in 2017, which continues to make waves in the UK's current political landscape. In fact, more than 50 members of the British Parliament have been accused of sexual misconduct, only a handful of MPs have been convicted, and the Independent Complaints and Grievance Scheme has recorded around 70 complaints. In short, Anatomy of a Scandal is an entirely fictional narrative, but it's rooted in the true stories of women who are still fighting for justice.

Wishing everyone a happy Monday.

Nicole

It'll be interesting to see if Netflix can continue to offer enough programming to stop the decreasing subscriptions. We're sticking around for Stranger Things. I'm not sure after that... (It wouldn't let me sign in with Google for some reason.)

I am delighted you gave us the details of this story, because I don't get Netflix. It is so sad, but long overdue. Sadly, it isn't just in the UK, but here in the states, too. Thanks for sharing this, dear.

I saw that was a new release and it is on my list. Sadly, we have the same issues over here as they do in the UK.
