Make a head shape with foil. |
Roll out some clay. This is DAS Terracotta. |
Start forming it around the foil. |
Until you have a nice head. I insert a stick to make it easier to work. |
Add clay to form eyes, nose and mouth. |
To make the spikes. Take small pieces of clay. Make into a ball. |
Pinch the end |
Then roll between your fingers. |
Until you have something like this. |
Then mash the thick end onto the head and blend it in. |
I added lines and cracks and then let it dry. |
I added several different kinds of acrylic paints and pastels to the head. |

Friday Face Off Week 2
Hi Everyone!
I am writing this on Thursday, and all I can say is what a day I have had with Spectrum. I mean my entire day was either on the phone or with the tech that came to my house. Due to lack of income..... I was dropping the TV part of my plan and just keeping my WI FI then the gal tells me about pick 15. OK. Lets go with that. Have you ever thought of picking 15 channels off the top of your head? So many are not available on the pick 15. Anyway it was quite a day.
So to the subject at hand. Barbara from Artistic Living and I are doing a weekly Friday Face Off. Each week we will create a face from clay and then show our art. This is week #2. Last week I showed how I make a flat face. This week here is a round head.
I hope you enjoyed this. Be sure to go over to Barbara's

...I enjoy seeing how you do it!
Oooh, he is wonderful❗You are so good to create clay art.
Enjoy the weekend ahead 👍🌷
Great to see the art in process!
We don't have Spectrum here, but the cable channels I would want are always upper tier channels. I'm better off without.
WOW! Thank you for sharing this. You make it look easy but I know better. Your talent is fantastic!
Wonderful! And at an early stage, it looks just like a cake pop!
Have fun with your wonderful faces every Friday. Hugs, Valerie
Wonderful face for the faceoff!
Well done! It does look like an ancient art.

I dropped the tv and the land line phone with my company, and wanted to keep just the internet, and it costs me just as much it seems. It's crazy, isn't it? Loving your latest face too Nicole. hugs-Erika
This was awesome to see the process-thank you for sharing. I am enjoying seeing the art from you and Barbara.
I have not heard of pick 15 that is actually a good idea
Have a good weekend Kathy
Amazing face, Nicole. I like that you use foil as an armature. Nice of you to show us how you made it, too.
I love the face, even without the eyes... perhaps, especially without the eyes. After you note about it looking like something that could've been found in an ancient dig, I thought that it probably wouldn't have any eyes by then.
I don't watch TV, so I would probably just blink a lot if I had to pick 15 channels, lol!
I was interested in the art in process, Nicole. I also enjoyed last week how you make a flat face. I will visit Barbara's website soon.
Have a nice weekend!
I like your face and many thanks for sharing how you made it.
Have a good weekend.
All the best Jan
