Friday Face Off Week 2

 Hi Everyone!
I am writing this on Thursday, and all I can say is what a day I have had with Spectrum. I mean my entire day was either on the phone or with the tech that came to my house. Due to lack of income..... I was dropping the TV part of my plan and just keeping my WI FI then the gal tells me about pick 15. OK. Lets go with that. Have you ever thought of picking 15 channels off the top of your head? So many are not available on the pick 15. Anyway it was quite a day.
So to the subject at hand. Barbara from Artistic Living and I are doing a weekly Friday Face Off. Each week we will create a face from clay and then show our art. This is week #2. Last week I showed how I make a flat face. This week here is a round head.
I need to put in some eyes but I think this looks like a find in an ancient dig.

Make a head shape with foil.

Roll out some clay. This is DAS Terracotta.

Start forming it around the foil.

Until you have a nice head. I insert a stick to make it easier to work.

Add clay to form eyes, nose and mouth.

To make the spikes. Take small pieces of clay. Make into a ball.

 Pinch the end

 Then roll between your fingers.

Until you have something like this.

Then mash the thick end onto the head and blend it in.

I added lines and cracks and then let it dry.

I added several different kinds of acrylic paints and pastels to the head.

I hope you enjoyed this. Be sure to go over to Barbara's

We don't have Spectrum here, but the cable channels I would want are always upper tier channels. I'm better off without.

I dropped the tv and the land line phone with my company, and wanted to keep just the internet, and it costs me just as much it seems. It's crazy, isn't it? Loving your latest face too Nicole. hugs-Erika

Amazing face, Nicole. I like that you use foil as an armature. Nice of you to show us how you made it, too.

I love the face, even without the eyes... perhaps, especially without the eyes. After you note about it looking like something that could've been found in an ancient dig, I thought that it probably wouldn't have any eyes by then.

I don't watch TV, so I would probably just blink a lot if I had to pick 15 channels, lol!
