TAD Winter Sports

 Hey Everyone!

Today is TAD with Rain and her theme this week is, Winter Sports. I have long stopped having winter days outdoors. Ya know sports and having what I use to think was a lot of fun. Mr. M. and I used to spend most of our time outdoors, living remote, and just taking it all in. These days I just want to be warm. LOL
But back then I loved being out in the 20 below getting sled dogs ready to run.
One of the best nights was running the dogs onto a frozen lake while the northern lights danced across the sky.
Anchored in the middle of the frozen drinking hot chocolate and Baileys.
Just me and the dogs. There is nothing like that kind of quiet.

Snow camping is another sport that we did. It was a challenge, me against the elements. I loved that life.

One thing I still love to do is fish.
Lakes, streams, ocean fishing I am in.
However, there is something very special about catching fish through a hole in the ice.
My brother and I would snow mobile all over the backlands outside of Fairbanks.

Well, that's it for the winter sports for me. Be sure to stop by Rain's to see what she and the others have come up with.

The pictures are stunning!
The temperature has dropped in my city and I am currently enjoying the chill. Lovely for now, but I am sure I would soon want some warmth.

Thanks for sharing the awesome photos.
I our Lapland we can see Northern lights as well but last week we can see them also in Southern Finland, it's not usual.
Have a nice rest of the week 👍

What a hardy lifestyle you led! "These days I just want to be warm" -- I hear ya! You're entitled to seek the warmth; you've paid your dues in the far frozen north!

...my idea if a winter sport is walking on a beach and looking at the pretty girls!

I think sled dogging is the only winter sport I want to try. Maybe snowshoeing on a nice day. I good sledding is fun too. But snowmobiling...bundling up so you don't get cold at those temperatures, I don't quite get that one. I can see if you live remote and need it for transportation, but for fun? Nice post today Nicole!

What an amazing post, Nicole. I am in love with that first photo with the sled dogs and the northern lights. At some point, I want to see them, and am so glad you shared your experience with them.

I want to get warm today. It hasn't been above freezing day or night for the past two days. I hope you are faring better. You certainly have paid your dues, and your lovely photos show it.

Wow_!
A winter activity that few people have been a part of_!
__ I lived with, and ran my team of Siberian Huskys through the 1970s... in all of New England, New York, and somewhat in Canada. The Gee-Haw; clipped whiskers to stop the "frost' hurt; Sasha my leader (team leader); and her enthusiastic steps into each run with our team, I will NEVER forget_!
__ So sorry to take up this much space. Is that snow I'm seeing now? _m

The Northern Lights are fascinating, and your photo is just wonderful. Living outdoors is completely unfamiliar to me -- I've only once or twice even slept outside.

Nicole,

You sound like my Nicole. She loves the cold! Living in Maine is perfect for her. Me, not so much! I never cared for the cold. As a kid, I enjoyed the snow but even after awhile it would get to me. You sounded adventurous and fun with your outdoor wintry activity. I have to admire that and wish I had been a little more like that because these days I definitely do not want any part of it. :)

I love to go fishing too, have never tried ice fishing though! I'm long past the winter sport days, I just want to be warm too! ☺
