Garden Saturday Recipe on Hand

Happy Saturday to you!
There is not much left to my garden. The outside yard is cleaned up and the saved soil undercover.

In the GH the tomatoes are done, as are the poblano peppers. Green Bell peppers harvested little. I picked one yesterday and there are 4 more I am waiting for.

Cayennes did pretty well and just this
week a jalapeno came out.
I Won't grow peppers next year, they just don't like our cool weather here. I started all of the pepper plants in Feb. the length of time, water and feed is not worth the yield. I will put in more beans, squash and root foods next year.
So this is what I harvested this week.

 11 pints of corn.

 8 pints of green beans.

I finished off the apples with another batch of apple sauce.

Here are the black beans from the garden. I got just over a pound. I am happy with this.

I roasted poblanos in my air fryer. I have a broil setting and it was so much easier than trying to do it in the oven. I had 2 batches likes this.

We had a day of mega rain last week and these flowers popped back to life.

Here is this weeks recipe. I have many emails asking for my pizza crust dough recipe. It is so easy and is the best I have come across. This makes 2. One can be frozen for later.
You will need
2 packets (1/4 ounce each) active dry yeast
and 1 1/2 C warm water.
2 Tbs sugar
1/4 C  oil plus a little more to brush the bowl.
2 tsp salt
4 C all-purpose flour. Plus a little for the work surface.
Pour 1 1/2 C warm water into large bowl: sprinkle with yeast and let stand until foamy, about 5 minutes.
Wish sugar, oil, and salt into yeast mixture. Add flour and stir until a sticky dough forms. Transfer dough to an oiled bowl the turn over so both top and bottom are oiled. Cover bowl with plastic or a T towel and set aside in a warm draft-free place until dough has doubled. This should take about an hour. Turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface and gently kneed 1 or 2 times. Roll out and place on pan to be cook on. Add your pizza ingredients and bake in 450°F (233°C) Bake until dough is brown around the edges and ingredients are hot. In my oven this takes about 15 minutes.
You can also use this dough for rolls and braided bread.
Enjoy!

Thanks for the recipe.
This area is large and it is good to have supplies. I also like to do.
Nice weekend, hugs, Elke

N, hang in there with your garden, all my plants have just had a “second wind” and I have poblanos coming on in an increasingly cool greenhouse. I’m hoping they make it. Tomatoes still harvesting here, dry beans took the biggest hit this summer, not many, I’m jealous of your black bean harvest. You are right to can and preserve, take care, donna

Well done on all the canning. Lots of nutritious foods there. Good garden yield also. Thanks for the pizza crust recipe!

I cleaned up most of my garden today. I have some cherry tomatoes left and brussel sprouts. They are late harvesters. And I'm doing a second crop of greens as they like cold, so as long as the frost holds off, I should be good. You've been busy Nicole. And I will say your pizza looks delicious. Good thing I just had my dinner. Happy rest of your weekend.

Uh-oh... what is "4 C all-purpose flour"?
Reckon we don´t have it here, we also lack "self-raising flour". We live behind a rock here.
Wow on your canning, but now I really crave pizza!!

I can appreciate your frugality, Nicole. I would LOVE to have a garden again and I may someday if I ever get rid of the bamboo. I am so glad you were able to can all that food. I assure you, you will eat a LOT better than I this winter. I'm gearing up for ramen noodles most of the winter. Loved seeing all that canning, too.

It's that time of the year, isn't it? My wee garden is in containers, so I will bring most it inside the house for the winter. I already started re-potting and transplanting. I should be done in a week or two.

Canning is an excellent idea. You're very sensible.

And how I wish I could eat pizza!

Mmm, that pizza sure looks good! I like making home-made pizzas, too. :) You've been super busy with your garden, haven't you?

You have such a nice, flat yard space. It must make it easy to arrange things. I admire your canning. My husband's the pizza maker around here, and I remember how pleased he was to find a reliable recipe for the crust.

no one needs a reason to can stuff, i get why you are doing it tho. and it means that most of that isnt going to waste
