Movie Monday

Greetings!

I hope all of you had a good weekend. It was stormy here, oh it still is. LOL
A good movie is perfect during storms and this weekend Mr. M. and I watched a new movie on Netflix called "Stowaway" before you rush to turn on your TV or device to watch this, DON'T! It is the a thumbs down in our opinion. This movie has a cast of 4 with big names, Toni Collette, Anna Kendrick, Shamier Anderson and Daniel Dae Kim. I was surprise that Anna Kendrick was in this movie. She is more of a comedy actress, but I thought let's see what shes got.
The movie lacked emotion and realistic features. Here is one small detail, when two of the cast had to go outside to collect oxygen there was gravity and they had to use mountain climbing equipment to get to the other side of this weird ship. I won't go any further. Here is a trailer, and if you do watch the movie have a blanket and pillow for when you fall to sleep. LOL

Now if you would like to watch a better but not 100% movie try  George Clooney's " Midnight Sky" A better story, better space involvement and better entertainment.
The earth is destroyed by us with what we are dong to it right now. People are evacuated to underground shelters. One man, who is sick, stays behind. He is the foremost scientist on saving the world and finding a new one.
This movie was directed by Clooney and cost 100 million to make. This movie was based on the book, "Good Morning, Midnight", by Lily Brooks Dalton. Maybe the book is better.

That's it for today. If you do watch either or both of these let me know what you think.

  3. My Rare One and I started watching the Netflix comedy "Thunder Force" this weekend but I refused to watch it by half-way through. It was THAT appallingly awful and unfunny.

  8. Oh dear, the wife added "Stowaway" to our queue recently, but I'm hesitant to share this with her. Maybe we'll just give it a shot. We'll see. Re: Debra She Who Seeks's comment above- we'd already decided that, even though we'd like to try "Thunder Force", we had to agree that many of MM's more recent movies just aren't all that funny. Glad I discovered you!

  9. Thanks for the info on those film Nicole. I'm glad you enjoyed at least one of them.
We have so much choice with all of these streaming services, it gets a bit overwhelming sometimes 😂

  10. I've seen info about this Stowaway movie. I remember a short story from back in the day that had a similar subject. It was about a stowaway on a one-man rescue mission ship. It made an impression, and I still remember it now decades later. "The Cold Equations" by Tom Godwin is available online: https://photos.state.gov/libraries/hochiminh/646441/vantt/The%20Cold%20Equations.pdf

I hadn't come across Midnight Sky. Thanks!

  12. I have wondered about STOWAWAY but shall wonder no more. I did see MIDNIGHT SKY and enjoyed it to a certain degree but not a favorite. If you have not seen IN TIME on Prime, I believe you will enjoy it.

  13. I like Anna Kendrick. She's obviously trying to change it up a bit and get different roles in different kinds of movies. I was planning to watch Stowaway, actually! 😏🤷‍♂️

Ugh, I probably won't like it, as you said. If I get to it, I'll just fast-forward it, then. Thanks for sharin' your thoughts and your opinion, Nic! 👏🏻😉
