T stands for food and 29 Faces

Greetings!

Today is T day over at Elizabeth's and Bleubeard's. It's always a fun time over there so be sure to check it out.
This is day 16 for 29 Faces. The month is almost gone.
I want to thank all of you for so much encouragement with my art. There are times that things I show are darn right ugly LOL but all of you always give me such great feedback and that makes me want to create more art. With that said I have now idea where I was going with this face but here it is.

It was Mexican food night in our house. I made spicy airfried chicken, rice, and fresh string beans and at the last minute decided to make Bolillo bread. Pronounced Bo-le-yo.
Like I said I made it in record time. It is a dense, soft bread that doesn't have much flavor so I add a bit of garlic powder and cumin to spice it up. Not much a pinch of each. This bread is easy to make and very good. Great with stews, soups and anything Mexican. Recipe at the end.
They look a little anemic but I promise they are done.
Supposed to be an egg white wash on them and most of you know I don't like that.
Last night's dinner and my drink to join the T-gang.

I don't care for white rice and Mr. M. doesn't care for grain rices so we switch off. The chicken is marinated in a spices salsa the outcome is sooooo good. I make most of my food in an airfryer but baking in the oven is just as good.
And Mr. M. got spice cake for desert.
Bolillo Mexican white bread
A lot of Mexican breads are sweet. This one is not. When my father-in-law was alive he taught me how to make this bread.
This is a big batch I cut the recipe in half.
1 13 cups warm water
1 package (1/4 oz) of active yeast
4 cups all purpose flour
1t salt, 1t sugar, 1 egg white beaten and set aside.
Pour water into a bowl and then sprinkle yeast. Let set about 5 minutes. Combine dry ingredients in another bowl then pour the yeast water in and mix together. This is a stiff dough and you may  need to add a bit more water. A teaspoon at a time. Knead for 10 minutes. Place dough in a greased bowl and allow to rise about 1 hour. Punch down and knead again for about 10 minutes or until the dough is smooth. Divide the dough into ball and then into oval shape. Place on baking sheets, cover and allow to rise for 30 minutes. Score the top and brush each ball with the egg.
Bake at 375°F /190C for about 30 minutes.
Yours will be nice and golden brown.

And as I was looking for a picture I found these. Some of you may remember them. I sold all but one that I kept for myself. These are made with gold and marble leaf, acrylic on canvas, 20x16"

That's it for today.
What ever you do today make it the best.

I love this portrait, Nicole. Her expression is lovely.

We have bolillos in our part of Mexico. They're very popular, tasty and chewy. Kudos for baking your own! Thank you for the recipe.

Beautiful mask paintings. No wonder they sold out.

Happy T-day! Hugs, Eileen

Hello Nicole, your food is delicious! I am not very familiar with Mexican food, but I would love to try whatever you prepare.
Love the masks and also the face!

I never heard of that white bread but it certainly is named aptly as it doesn't have any color in it. I love bread of any kind so this sounds interesting. The whole meal looks yummy, especially the chicken.
Your faces that you sold are lovely. I love the color combinations.
What a great idea to do a portrait everyday. Isn't it fun to see the improvement?
Happy Tea Day,
Kate

I wish I was at your house for dinner. It looks yummy. And thanks for the recipe. Sometimes a bread not to sweet is just what you want with dinner. The face portraits are stunning. I can see why you sold them all (except for that one you kept of course.) Hope it was a great T day. Erika

I'm very late visiting, dear Nicole. I made the mistake of eating a bite before I visited you, then fell asleep. I can't seem to stay awake lately. The good news is, I found Jan because she left me a comment this week and I let her know the problem she has caused. Eileen explained the problem on Jan's blog, but I didn't understand it.

I love those faces/masks. They are stunning and the colors are so rich and bold. I can see why they sold so quickly. I also like your latest sketch, too.

I've never made that bread, but I'm not a baker. I have several Mexican friends, so will ask if that is the recipe they use to make bolillo bread. And your meal looks good, too. Thanks for sharing your faces, your faces, your food, your bread, and your water with us for T this Tuesday. I want a piece of spice cake. It looks SO yummy.

Beautiful portrait!
Oh, I miss Mexican food. We had such a wonderful tiny restaurant, it closed down years ago and I never found anything like it.
We do have an air-fryer, though!
Must´ve been great tolearn how to make that bread. My FIL wanted to teach me to make tongue - I´m not in for that! I ate it but never knew which tongue I bite, LOL, the brain can get mean!
Great masks.

Nicole,

I love Mexican food! Your chicken sounds nice. You mentioned marinating the chicken in a a spicy salsa, what kind do you recommend? I don't have an airfryer but I do like broiling chicken in the oven which turns out nicely. I haven't done that in a long time. I'm in the mood for chicken n' dumplings. Another thing I haven't made in years. I did buy a whole chicken recently so I can make a big pot soon. :) Your faces never disappoint. I'm awed by your talent. Keep doodling!

Thank you for visiting and commenting on my blog once again. Your drawing is very good, my husband was the artist in our family and I'm useless! lol I like the sound of your bread too. Unfortunately I rarely cook or bake nowadays. Hazel x

Btw, those faces in at the end... 😏 Remind me of masks in theaters 🤷‍♂️

They're quite unusual & totally poppin' up, I like the colors too! 💚💙
