T stands for Tuesday

Hi Everyone!

Burrr it's cold this AM 30° F. I have to go out today and you all know how much I love that, NOT!
Today is T stands for Nature. I am joining the T gang over at Bluebeard and Elizabeth's. Come see what everyone is doing.
I was going through some older photos and actually had forgotten about these. Before covid, Mr. M. and I took a short trip, about 15 miles, east out of Florence. Did you know that beginning at the California/Oregon border, and extending through the north end of Vancouver Island is the "seasonal rain forest zone". The major tree species here are Douglas fir, western red cedar, Sitka spruce, and western hemlock. However, with climate change, and less rain, we get less rain forest. Believe me I can't imagine how it was before I moved here 15 years ago because we get A LOT of rain. It is always wet here. But back to the trip. This is a place that runs along the Siuslaw (Si-OOs-law) river.
It's really pretty, tucked into the mountain. This is also one of the places that burned this year with all the fires we had.
I am glad I have the photos.

And it was pizza night. Mr. M. doesn't like any kind of sauce, so half is rubbed with grapeseed oil and my half has pizza sauce. Also Mr. M. doesn't like mushrooms so my half has that added goodness.  Also my drink to get me into  t-day is hot coco and toasted home made bread.

Have a great day today.

Monday Movies and some art

Hi Everyone!

Christmas is over and I hope all of you had a very nice day. Pretty quiet around here. I spoke to my kids, grandkids and great granddaughter. I really can't wait for covid to get under control so I can fly to Florida and NC to see them.
OK, enough of that.
First I want to show you where I am on this piece of art. I think she is coming along pretty well.
I still have some refining to do but I am happy with her.
Here is my inspiration.
Please click on the drawing to see a close up.

I have been waiting days to tell  you about this movie. Now don't be thrown by the title, it is a love story.
I watched it on Prime. It stars Kate Beckinsale, Jim Sturgess, Ben Kingsley, Michael Can and David Thewlis.
I give this movie a 2 thumbs up.
A great story with a few twists.
You can watch it for free on Tubi
In the meantime here is the trailer.

Merry Christmas and Paint Party Friday

 Hi Everyone!

Merry Christmas to all that come this way.
I have a piece I painted the other day. The canvas has a lot of texture by using Liquitex Glass Beads. I have shown this  before and it is truly a great product and can be used in so many different ways.

This is just a fun abstract.

With some leftover paint on my pallet
I painted this as well.

Rain's TAD The Night Before Christmas.

Hi Everyone!

Here it is Christmas Eve. Even though we don't celebrate the day, I do respect and enjoy seeing how other's do. I hope this will work for Rain's TAD
My kids insist on sending gifts and I have received some of the most delightful E-cards from my blogging friends. Thank you.  (I am not a total Scrooge, more like a Krampus. LOL) Anyway, in the mail yesterday the second gift from my Son and DIL arrived. Now, if you live in Oregon, or not, you have heard of Harry and David. They are the OMG of gourmet gift baskets of fruit, candy, baked goods, wines and oh so much more. You can check them out here.

They are located in Medford, OR. and when my Mom and Nan were still alive we would drive over and spend hours there.
OK, back to the mail. LOL This is what my kids sent to us.
How beautiful is this wrapping?
Truffles, cookies and cherries.
A soft foam so the apples don't bruise
These are the best pears and one
is always wrapped in gold foil to let you know
you are about to treat yourself to something wonderful.
Ohhh and that bag of caramel and chocolate
popcorn, is OMG good!!!!
Let's not forget the toasty warm house socks
my daughter sent to me too. Very nice gifts indeed.

My Son and DIL

My Daughter and SIL

Missing them.

Merry Christmas to all that come this way
and may 2021 be better for all of us.

Wednesday

Hi Everyone!

My Son sent me some biscotti. Now I like biscotti in just about any flavor. However, this box was different and I am sorry to say not very good. They were made more like short fat bread and the flavors were not as advertised. Nevertheless, nothing goes to waste here. I also had some left over granola that I made last week, so why not put the two together to make sort of a flour. Welllahh!!

I put the granola and 3 of the biscotti into the food processor.

It came out perfectly for what I wanted.

Then I made a basic oat meal cookie recipe. I did add less sugar because the biscotti/granola mixture is sweet.
When the mixture felt right
I added the b/g mixture to finish off the batter.
I will say OMG! some of the best cookies I have ever made.

Now for the biscotti. These came from Granny Bella's off of amazon. I give them a rating of "F" they are so hard you can not bite into them. I dunked one into my hot water and there is absolutely no flavor. I did tell my Son so he could give a not so good review. I am just glad that I did find a use for them and that I didn't have to throw them away.
I hate wasting any kind of food, especially these days.

T stands for Tuesday Drink and Art

Hi Everyone!

I slept in this morning. I got up around 7 AM. I am normally up and runnin' by 5:30. So this morning feels like I am behind in my daily routine. Plus I feel drugged, as if I can't wake up. LOL
Today is T stands for Tuesday over at Bluebeard and Elizabeth's blog. I can't wait to get over there to see what Elizabeth has shared along with the rest of the T gang. For me, after I wake up, I will be getting jugs cut and ready to start my winter sowing garden. If you have not heard of it you can check it out here.   Or watch this short vidi. The idea has been around for a long time and I tried it with a few plants last year. It works.
If you have tried this let me know in the comments how it worked for you.

My problem is the rain and more so the wind. I will need to make some sort of wind shield so the jugs don't blow way.

How do you truly feel?
I find that I am tired.
Tired of the BS in the US.
I should make a T-shirt with that saying. LOL
It is exhausting living here. Even if I don't watch the news.
Some people in my state have gone off the deep end. They are so ramped up they are not thinking straight. Then, of course, they are believing the conspiracy and lies that are being spread. I try to look at all of this as a history lesson, and hope that there are people who, in the future, will tell the truth, give the facts that really happened in 2016 to 2021.
So with that here is my drink for yesterday.

Monday Movies Divers and Sunday

Hi Everyone!

Today is Monday and we are still in a storm from hell. It has not stopped raining since Saturday night. We are under a flood warning and my yard is a soggy mess. LOL At least with the rain is has warmed up a bit.
Most of you know I AM a movie watching fool. hee hee hee. I have a movie going at all waking hours, I own 1,000s of movies and I stream a lot. I dislike commercials but I do stream the Roku channel because they have great movies and the commercials are limited. I wanted to share another series I watched this weekend on Amazon Prime. It's called, "The Widow"
It stars Kate Beckinsale as a woman who believes that her husband was killed in a plane crash three years earlier, but then discovers that he is still alive in the Congo. She, of course, goes there to search for him. Lots of twists and turns with some predictability but a good watch for sure.

If you are interested in knowing about old and new movies, books and other entertainment check out Divers and Sundry
Every day there is something new there.

Have a great Monday

Saturday Post

Hi Everyone!

I hope your Saturday is turning out to be a good one. The morning here was pretty spectacular. We have had a few days of storms and this AM, even though it was dark and gray, it was warm with no wind and the fragrance in the air was one of clean, fresh mist off the ocean. A perfect morning.
I found this lovely lady on line. She is a model by the name of Rhianna. I think she is gorgeous. when I was young I had a very large gap between my two front teeth. In my 20's I had some dental work done and the dentist asked me what I would change if I could. I said, "Get rid of the gap." He told me the gap is beautiful, but he got rid of it for me. Later in my 40's I was looking at some old photos of me and thought, I should have listened to the dentist. LOL Anyway, here is my drawing inspired by Rhianna.

Here are some photos of Rhianna

Have a nice day.

TAD with Rain Portraits

 Hi Everyone!

This is Thursdays Art Date with Rain. Her theme this week is portraits.
Now if you have been with me for any length of time you know that my practice is portraits or as I call them faces. LOL
I am going to do something that, a few weeks ago,
I said I wasn't going to do.
Show some of my first drawings.
However, I am gong to swallow my pride and just do it.
Besides I did show these a few years ago.
Here they are. My faces are like most who start drawing.
Flat, dark lines, bad shading. You can laugh, these are just
horrendous.  At the time I knew they were not good but
I remembered what my artist grandmother said,
"Practice make perfect".
Well I am not perfect but I am getting better.
Take the very short time to click on the page
To see them up close.
Page 2, I am feeling better with the pencils
and trying more expression
Page 3, getting a little better.
Page 4, not perfect but still practicing.
The first two images is a great example
of how far I have come.

I am excited to see what all the other artists have
shared this week. Come by and take a look as well,
over at Rain's TAD
I am also linking this with paint party friday.

Wow Wednesday

Hi Everyone!

Yesterday, I got up and started my day like any other. It was mad stormy and cold in my house. It was one of those days where I knew I wasn't going to do much. Wellll.... that was an understatement. I found a series on Amazon Prime and got hooked.  It's called, "The Wilds"
I don't watch series on regular TV because there are too many commercials and I don't want to wait a week to see what happens.
So binge watching is good for me. LOL
Here is the first episode

Yesterday I posted the new colors from Pantone. Some of you didn't know about Pantone and others thought the colors, especially the gray were not so great for 2021. I want to share a bit about Pantone and the reasoning behind the color choice.

PANTONE 17-5104 Ultimate Gray + PANTONE 13-0647 Illuminating, two independent colors that highlight how different elements come together to support one another, best express the mood for Pantone Color of the Year 2021. Practical and rock solid but at the same time warming and optimistic, the union of PANTONE 17-5104 Ultimate Gray + PANTONE 13-0647 Illuminating is one of strength and positivity. It is a story of color that encapsulates deeper feelings of thoughtfulness with the promise of something sunny and friendly.

A message of happiness supported by fortitude, the combination of PANTONE 17-5104 Ultimate Gray + PANTONE 13-0647 Illuminating is aspirational and gives us hope. We need to feel that everything is going to get brighter – this is essential to the human spirit.

As people look for ways to fortify themselves with energy, clarity, and hope to overcome the continuing uncertainty, spirited and emboldening shades satisfy our quest for vitality. PANTONE 13-0647 Illuminating is a bright and cheerful yellow sparkling with vivacity, a warming yellow shade imbued with solar power. PANTONE 17-5104 Ultimate Gray is emblematic of solid and dependable elements which are everlasting and provide a firm foundation. The colors of pebbles on the beach and natural elements whose weathered appearance highlights an ability to stand the test of time, Ultimate Gray quietly assures, encouraging feelings of composure, steadiness and resilience.
Emboldening the spirit, the pairing of PANTONE 17-5104 Ultimate Gray + PANTONE 13-0647 highlights our innate need to be seen, to be visible, to be recognized, to have our voices heard. A combination of color whose ties to insight, innovation and intuition, and respect for wisdom, experience, and intelligence inspires regeneration, pressing us forward toward new ways of thinking and concepts.
 Check out Pantone's website.
I always wanted to be on the color team. It is quite a process from many people with different backgrounds that choose the colors.
Last but not least here is what I did while I watched, "The Wilds"
I've drawn this girl before and I am hoping each time gets better. LOL
I just really like her face.

Well that's it for now. I hope you have a wonderful day.
