Hi Everyone!
It's turning cold at night and back to our regular cool days with rain and wind. The weather of the Oregon coast. With that my garden is coming to an end, even though there are still things growing. A friend of mine, Donna, gifted me some Christmas Lima bean seeds. I planted 2 of them. They took a very long time to get growing but grow they did. I had to do some research to find out when to harvest these beauties. It turns out they have to turn brown on the vine.
Well mine finally are.

On a side note. I set my scarecrow in my art room but every time I walked in I saw her out of the corner of my eye and it startled me. So she gets to be in one of my living rooms protecting the house. I needed a name for her and for some reason Winnifred keeps coming to mind. I looked it up and both in Welsh and America it means
White wave. Also a Blessed reconciliation.
I like this. So she is Winnifred.

I love lima and butter bean, but these remind me of pinto beans from their color. What fun and you are getting a Christmas surprise a bit early.

I have not heard of Christmas Lima Beans before but that comes as no surprise since I'm not a gardener. In recent years I've grown to like eating lima beans more than I did as a child. There's a variety we get at the grocery store, Hookford, in the frozen foods which are especially good. They have almost a buttery taste to them. Anywho, the Christmas lima beans have a pretty marble colorization. Thanks for sharing!
I've never seen lima beans like these. I can see where a life-sized scarecrow inside might startle. Naming her will make the difference, I imagine :)
Amazing rose and leaves reproduction. I get why your roses are black, no surprise(!), but it made me wonder if black roses are really a thing. 😁
