Hi Everyone!
As mentioned in one of my previous posts, I have been trying to learn how to draw hair. OMG!!!!! I am about ready to pull mine out. I know it is practice, I know it takes time, but I am the worst at it. LOL!!! If anyone has any tips please leave them in the comments. Any and all help is greatly appreciated. I actually had a pretty good art week. Here is what I created.
This guy is pretty cute and the hair isn't too bad.
Love the face, hate the hair.
30 minute draw waiting for Mr. M. at the doctor's office.
Just getting started on this one.

I've got no tips myself, but have you checked out any YouTube tutorials on the subject? Sometimes they can help a lot!
Yes Debra that is what I did for several hours today. Good tips from everyone I watched but when I try to put it to paper... Well I just have to laugh.
These are still WORLDS better than anything and everything I could ever make. In a word: beautiful.
Beautful art week Nicole!
I don't like to draw or paint hair... it's kind of boring I think... so I often gave just the impression of hair on my Mixed Media faces...lol.
Happy weekend !!

Great drawings and hope you can get the hang of hair !
Lovely sketches! Happy PPF, Valerie
Wonderful work this week!! I try to look at hair as masses of light and dark. Once I get those down, I then look for spots to punch up the darks where they occur naturally. If using graphite, I can pull up streaks of highlight where the light hits those masses. I also reserve the very lightest areas in the beginning. By saving the whites, they will be my strongest highlights. I hope this helps!!
Gorgeous work Nicole!
I think your drawings are wonderful, hair or not! I used to draw many years ago but have lost the ability now. I am now focused on painting impressions instead of realistic images. Maybe that would work with hair!
Wonderful drawing Nicole. Glad you have been able to get back to it! No tips on hair as i only do mine in a mixed media, whimsical way. Good luck. Happy PPF!
Thanks Tammie, that makes sense to me.
Expressive portraits. I've so little painting skills that cant give you help. Sure you learn soon.
Happy PPF XX

Hair... I think the hair you draw on the two images was pretty good. I can´t help you out there as I never tried it. :( But, why not GOOGLE it? How to draw hair shows you a lot of videos out there. :)
Hello Nicole, first time visiting. I like your creativity, those are some nice drawings as well! Especially the last one, think that's my favorite. Keep practicing because, as you know, that's how you master your skills and become really, really good at things. Good luck, girl! :)
Oh, hair is difficult. A million lines, light and heavy, short and long...
Bold is easy :)
Hi Nicole, I sometimes do almost realistic ones sometimes as impressions. If realistic, it's a bit time-consuming for me as I go from light to dark in paint(watercolour/gouache/acrylic whatever the medium) and then use polychromes or graphite or acrylic paints or pitt pens (sometimes a mix of these) for streaks avoiding the light areas. Hope it's clear to you!
I have seen Silvie Mandal's video clips on Instagram where she draws hair. I think it'll be helpful.
