Hi Everyone!
This has been a VERY busy week for me. Extra orders for people knowing I will be closed Feb.5 through Feb 20th. Cleaning house, cooking, art, art and more art. Plus our monthly bead gathering is at 3PM today instead of our normal 5PM, so baked a batch of cookies to share. We are going to try and keep it at the 3PM time for the winter.
It is just easier for driving in the rain. LOL
Thank you to Eva and Kristen for hosting Paint Party Friday
I am really excited to share with all of you what I have been up to. As you know I have been working leather since I was a kid. Changing techniques and playing with different styles. You also know that long before zombies and skulls were in fashion I was in love with them. This comes from my dad. Anyway, this first piece is a leather molded skull with leather and ultrasuede flowers with moss. I am happy that the mold came out just the way I wanted with the mouth able to open. I have 5 more of these drying, of course they are all a bit different. I have decorating ideas popping out of my head for them.
OK enough, I have named her,
"Shirley"
This is also something new that
I am experimenting with. I really like the effects
Leather 3-D protruding face. 8x10"
Drawings for the week.
I had trouble with hair this week.
Hey it is all a learning experience.

Whoa, your leather sculptures are pretty spectacular!!!!
ReplyDeleteI am in awe of your amazing leather sculpted skull! The detailing and colors are just amazing. Blessings, my friend!
ReplyDeleteInteresting leather skull and face on canvas! I've never seen this before! Good to view!
ReplyDeleteWonderful work, I like Shirley, she looks rather sweet. That looks like an interesting technique and great effect, I especially like the blue one, it has a sort of calm, underwater feel. I always find hair difficult to do too, drawing or painting.
ReplyDeleteLots of interesting projects. Super sketches. Happy PPF
ReplyDeleteFantastic work again. Happy PPF, hugs, Valerie

So much artistic beauty for PPF...I am in awe.
ReplyDeleteYou are definitely a multi-talented artist, Nicole.
Your portraits are wonderful...I like their hair~
Wow Nicole, you are on a roll! So much art done! That scull is amazing, and your beautiful experiments have me wondering how you made them :-) Great characters in your sketches too!
ReplyDeleteMy goodness, what an abundance of beautiful art Nicole! You are so full of creativity. I love the skull and the colored paint effects you are playing with especially.
ReplyDeleteI love that skull! It looks like something I am going to be doing when it gets warmer! It is where you take an old towel and soak it in some morter than drape it over a mold. It won't be as smooth as your skull-- but more bumpy and spooky looking :-) I have a pirate backyard... so I need a lot of skulls!
ReplyDeleteOh you did some good hair ; the leather sculpture is very nice
ReplyDeleteHappy PPF
much love...
You seem to know so much already ... how much more can you stuff into your pretty head ... These are awesome. I didn't used to like skulls, (something to do with when I grew up, I guess), but they have grown on me as they seem to have on everyone else ... this is a pretty lady (skull) and I love all of your leather work as well. The paint is interesting ... much like a refined form of finger painting. Oh my, there are so many ways to be creative ... I wish I could touch on more of them. Great post, as always, Nicole ...

Oh, your activity pushes me - again - to practice more...I plan but I have too many interests, I forget to draw/paint. For example reading takes a lot of time and follow politics. :)
