Hi Everyone!
Yesterday I took the day away from the PC. I thoroughly enjoyed it.  Part of that enjoyment was drawing face number 7 for 29 Faces, hosted by Martha of Ayala Art.  I am happy with this face. I do see a few tweaks that can be made, but for now it's done. Here are a few photos of how she progressed. I am left handed so I am always erasing pencil smudges from where my hand has dragged across the page. I have to work on that. LOL

I took this photo in monochrome

and this one in portrait. Which one do you like better?

I start by sketching out a face and then basic shading.

I am constantly changing adding and subtracting shades. I also work all over the page.

Honor and integrity in art, in life.

  1. Love the expression, values and how you've shown the different stages. Very nice!

  2. Oh, I love this one! Such expression, and shadowing. And nice to see the stages.
    Prefer the portrait one... :-)

  3. WOW!!! Really WONDERFUL! Hugs, Valerie

  4. Wow, she is stunning!! WOW! Hard to pick which one is my fav! Love both! Thanks for showing the different stages!

  5. the one taken in portrait mode does show more detail in your drawing :)

  6. I like the thirst one, but all are very fine. Your drawing is very personal and great.

  7. She is wonderful. Love her expression. i also enjoy how a piece is not done until we decide it is, adding and subtracting all sorts of things.

  8. Love her!!!! YAY for keeping up!!

  9. Awesomely stunning!! Thank you for showing the in-the-working photos too. You captured so much emotion on her face.... wow!

I am sorry I had to put a word verification for my comments due to the unsightly spam comments against women. Please take the time to leave me a comment. I love hearing from you.
