JAPAN DAY ONE

Hi Everyone!
I have a few of the photos re-sized so here goes. Day one Charmaine picked me up for the 4 hour drive to Portland, OR. We decided to drive up the coast and take our time. The weather was awful. Torrential rain and wind that was a bit scary. If you don't know that is pretty normal for the OR. coast. We made several stops at shops we had been wanting to visit and had a great time. Before we left Charmaine's husband printed out directions to the hotel we were staying at so we felt confident in getting there.
As we approached Portland I co-piloted us exactly as the directions indicated. Hmmmm let me just tell you NEVER go by the directions of the hotel. We were lost for 3 hours in Portland. It was so funny. We laughed so hard we were crying. Kim and Ann, our travel mates were waiting for us at the hotel. We finally arrived. It was definitely beer thirty. LOL!
We got a good night sleep and was ready for the flight to Canada and then the 9 hour flight to Japan. Straight off the plain we made it to the train station and took three different trains, another 9 hours, to finally reach Hiroshima. Tired does not even describe how we all felt. However, traveling that way we slept all night and got up early morning without any jet-lag.

Getting on the road

Halloween being my most favorite holiday I had to have this photo.
