GARBAGE ART AND OUR OCEANS

Hi Everyone!

I couldn't wait to publish these photos. On Thursday Mike and I had to drive to Coos Bay, OR. to have our car serviced. Yah know the big 5 year car service. For us it is a 70 mile drive to get there. We asked for a loaner car so we didn't have to sit at the dealership all day.  We got a mini van. First time I have ever been in one. Comfy and lots of room but what a gas hog. Anyway we drove another 30 miles to our favorite place on the OR coast, a town named Bandon. The weather, as you can see sucks just as much as it does in Florence, but the town is nicer. As we drove in we noticed some art that was in the form of a huge seal and a fish on an empty lot. We found out that a group of artists in Bandon have rallied together to try and clean up the tons of garbage that floats in on the beach. This is garbage that tourists, boater, fisherman and well you get it, PEOPLE just throw into the ocean. These sea creatures were made mostly of plastics but there were other pieces of garbage that the sea vomited up onto the beach. It is a sad situation when going to the beach, any beach is littered with the waste that humans just toss overboard. Is my tone a bit on the angry side? Yeah I guess it is. It just seems SOME people have no pride in where we live. But before I go off on a tangent LOL I want to applaud the good people of Bandon for taking a step. Cleaning the beach and doing something to show people just how much garbage they collected.
Do you have a group, or do you belong to a group of people that have taken steps to clean up your area. Tell me about them.

1000 BEADS WOW

Hi Everyone!

OOOhhhhh aaaahhhhhh ooooooohhhhh mmmyyyyy this is exactly what you are going to say when you first open the new book 1,000 Beads. Lark books has done it again with the most exciting display of beads created by artists from around the world. If you are a bead maker, bead collector, or a beader you will want this book. 420 pages of pure delight. I am very impressed with the book and more so with the artists that were juried into this book of bead wonder.
I was so glad to see my dear friend Lisa Atchison, had three beads accepted. Check out pages 92, 262 391. I am honored to have some of Lisa's beads. I can not say enough good things about this book. The layout and color coordination of the beads is spectacular.
If you are a bead lover be sure to get this book. It is one of the best from Lark.

THE ART OF LYNN LINDLEY

Hi Everyone!

What a busy week. Still caring for my mom and making sure things are right with her.
I don't know if I told all of you that I will be a great grandma in May.  Eva Marie will be here on or around May 20. I mention this to tell you that today while I was making baby clothes I sewed my finger. OMGGGGGG!!!! It happened so fast. All I saw was a chunk of my finger flying off into space and then blood. I grabbed a tissue wrapped the finger, raised my arm over my head and as fast as I could got down the stairs. Have any of you done this? My first time in all the years of sewing and I NEVER want to do it again. LOL

With that said I had a very nice email today from my friend and art extraordinaire Lynn Lindley. This is one of her paintings that just recently won a third place ribbon. Congratulations Lynn
Lynn also creates amazing beadwork too. Stop by her blog she is such a nice lady.

Thanks for sharing your art with us Lynn

ARTIST GEORGE RUSSEL DRYSDALE

Hi Everyone!

I came upon an amazing artist, George Russel Drysdale. His art is wonderfully haunting. There is a connection for me in his muted colors and strange landscapes. I feel so drawn to his images.
You can read about George Russel Drysdale here and other places on the web.

BEADED POPPY WITH NBB

Hi Everyone!
I am so behind in posting beautiful bead work from really talented people like Catherine Chinoy. First I have to tell you that the Poppy is one of my favorite flowers and to see it beaded with such precision is amazing. I also love that Catherine used Nicole's BeadBacking for the center of the flower. I am so honored that artists, such as Catherine find so many uses for NBB.
Catherine has a blog that shows how she created this amazing piece.
Be sure to visit her and introduce yourself.
Catherine lives in England but you can see her beautiful beading in her Etsy store

Just a few of Catherine's amazing bead art pieces
This is the poppy link

This is OMG amazing. Breathtaking

I love Catherine's creative mind. Again using NBB as a background. Beautiful.

HOME FOR A DAY

Hi Everyone!

Thank you for all of the wonderful emails and letters with well wishes for my mom's eye surgery. She did fabulously. Her eyes are healing very well with no side effects. In fact she is doing so well that I drove her home with me. She has not been to the coast for a while and had not seen the new house I am living in. Mike and I will drive her back to her place tomorrow.
Again thanks so much for all of your healing energy, prayers, and good thoughts.

GONE TO HELP MOM BEADWRIGHT CLOSED

Hi Everyone

I didn't have time to join in with PPF this week. I am getting ready to spend a week or more with my mom. She will be having eye surgery on Monday. This should go pretty well but I don't want her alone during the healing time.
So starting tomorrow Beadwright etsy and Beadwright website will be closed. I won't have too much access to internet so if you need something better write me today. LOL As always
I will answer emails when I return.

 Have a great week Everyone.
