PARTY RINGS FOR PAINT PARTY FRIDAY FEB 28

Hi Everyone!

It has been so busy for me this week with my Beadwright website sale that I just didn't have time to do any art. So I thought I would show some old beading pieces that I designed a few years ago. These are just a few of my Part Rings. I cut, shape, grind and size base metal. Then I cover it in deer hide sewing the outside seam with a bead edging. The focal beads are hand made glass made by my good friend Lori Culligan. The cabs are glued onto my Nicole's BeadBacking then beaded and backed with deer hide. This is then glued and sewed to the ring base. So much fun to make.
A big thanks to Eva and Kristin for hosting Paint Party Friday.

Hope you enjoy the Party Rings

 Have a great weekend!

Hope you enjoy the rings

PAINT PARTY FRIDAY FEB 21

Hi Everyone!

It has been a tough week and then my pc decided to take a dump. Thank goodness I have the best IT guy in Florence. He got right on it and I now have my pc back. I would never have purchased a W8 if there had been any other PC in the store. My first PC was DOS and until W8 I have never had a PC crash on me. This one has crashed twice in two years. Rediculous? aaahhh yeaaahhhh.... So with that said I didn't have much time to get my art finsihed. I started a sculpt that I will mold and use for leather impressions. This type of sculpt is not "detailed" I simply want full deep features. Hope to get him finished this weekend.

Just getting him worked out

Got his eyes and cheeks in. Now I just need to smooth out and add a few more details.

Thanks to Eva and Kristin for hosting Paint Party Friday
Also a big thanks to all the artists who participate and take that courageous step to show the world what they have created. Please stop by to see who these artists are.
Happy Paint Party Friday.

PAINT PARTY FRIDAY FEB. 14

Hi Everyone!
I am early do to the weather.
It is Paint Party Friday and NO I am not doing hearts or a Valentine theme. You should know me better than that. LOL
A big thanks to Eva and Kristin for hosting Paint Party Friday. Be sure to visit the other very talented artists who partake.
This week I wanted to work with some leather. I have had this idea in my head for a while and I had time to do it this.

First I assembled a 12x12" frame and painted it.

Then I found just the right color and type of leather. When working with leather you always wet it.
I really like the way the camera caught the steam.

Next staple the leather to the frame. Then balance it onto a molded face. This face is one I sculpted and molded a few years ago.

To help the drying time I use a heat gun.
I am just impatient. LOL
After the leather dries remove the molded face. The leather keeps it shape.

I normally air brush my leather faces but the weather was to icky to go out and do that. First I did some dry pastels in different size squares.
I then used acrylics, very dry, until I got the effect I wanted. The pastel squares show through just a bit in the face. I love that!!!!

I am very happy with the effect of this.

MEETING NEW PEOPLE

Hi Everyone!

Well I hope where ever you live you are safe and warm. We are in a storm straight from the land of OZ. The wind was so strong last night I thought our bedroom window was going to come in on us. Lots of rain and wind today but it is relatively warm.
So today I would like to introduce you to a lady I met as one of my customers. Due to some mail mix up we have become what I hope will be a good friendship. In other words I like her. LOL
She creates beadwork on hand bags. One of my favorite things. She doesn't have a website yet but I wanted to show you just a few of her piece.
This is the work of
Linda Cusworth-Rash
I hope you enjoy

PAINT PARTY FRIDAY AWAY FROM MY STUDIO

Hi Everyone!
Paint Party Friday
Thanks to Eva and Kristin

I wasn't going to show, yet, more abstract pieces, however, I was called away from home to care for my mom.  I have a leather piece that I wasn't able to finish. So I wrote this post on Monday Feb. 3rd.
No sad talk here just happy art.
These two pieces are done on small canvases. I can not tell you how much I am enjoying the abstract feel of art. It is so different than anything else I have done and learning to let go of strict art teachings is at times difficult. However, when "it" happens there is so much fun, freedom, a release of excited energy and a way to fly. OK... so maybe I am getting carried away, but it is GREAT!!!
Hope you enjoy these pieces.

 I should be home Saturday

PAINT PARTY FRIDAY LEARNING ABSTRACT

Hi Everyone!

Another week gone by and it is time to party. Well party with paint. LOL I had time to do a bit of painting this week and I am really enjoying learning abstract art. I started doing 10 minute warm ups but 10 minutes gives me too much time to "think" so I tried 5 minute warm ups, not enough time to think. 8 minutes works for me. LOL I have prepped many sheets of Nicole's BeadBacking "NBB" to do my warm ups on.  This saves lots of money on canvas. So here are several warm up pieces and a one done on canvas.
Thank you for joining in on my abstract journey. A big thanks to Eva and Kristin for hosting Paint Party Friday. So many talented artist from around the world join in to show what they are working on. If you want to get inspired, come see about Paint Party Friday. Maybe you will join in.
Have a great weekend everyone!

It is stormy here today so I couldn't get good lighting on this photo. But you get the idea.

Warm ups
