Sunday in the Art Room SITAR

 Welcome to
SITAR is about ANYTHING art. Your art, someone else's art, writing, photography, the art of cooking, the art of sewing and textiles. Sharing historical art, street art, a story about art. Do you have a question or need help with art? Write a blog post and link it up here. We will all try to help with it. My only rule is that if someone asks for critique it must be done with generosity and consideration. This is a place of learning, encouragement and inspiration.

Street art or murals are some of the most outstanding and creative pieces of art free to the public. It's true for Eugene, Oregon too.

Since 2022 there are more than 40 murals installed by various artists from around the world. The murals focus on giving visibility to cultural heritages and bringing vitality to Eugene during the pandemic.
Here is the time line. Before the pandemic 2016-2019
was the peak period of creation. Because the original goal was to reach 20 murals ahead of the world athletics championships, the city moved quickly. By the summer of 2019, the project had already outpaced its baseline goal, installing more than 20 major artworks

2020–2022 the pandemic slowed international artist travel significantly, forcing municipal art events—like the city's annual Visual Arts Week—to adjust to remote and socially distanced formats. However, final localized work and finishing touches continued through 2021 and 2022 to coincide with the delayed World Athletics Championships.
The city has three programs that have created murals. Community Murals, The Urban Canvas Program and the 20x21 Mural Project.
Here are a few more.

Here are all of the murals.
Hope you enjoyed the art.

 I will be joining Gillena

It's time to show me your art.
