Wednesday Rantings

 Hi Everyone!
Before I start in on my rant. Thank you to everyone who has Mr. M. in prayers and well wishes. When I calm down from the news I will write about it.
Me and Mr. M. in the early 1990's.

For now!
I don't read about the "thing" in the white house everyday, because no one can keep up on his evil ways. Plus it upsets me too much. However, lately his vicious antics are beyond belief. The "thing" makes sure that there is so much chaos every day that we forget what he has done in the past.

Today however, I read this.
The "thing's" administration is dismantling a $368 million deep-ocean observation system that was put in place a decade ago to monitor coastal environments, marine ecosystems and powerful currents that affect the global climate.
These Ocean Observatories also detect weather changes and a host of other valuable information.
The National Science Foundation said it would send ships in June to begin removing more than 900 deep-sea instruments anchored off Oregon, Washington State, Alaska, North Carolina, and an area between Greenland and Iceland known as the Irminger Sea.

Craig McLean, who was the acting chief scientist at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration during the first "things" term, said the move was part of a pattern in the "things" administration.

“This reflects the further lack of understanding that the current administration has of scientific value and scientific merit,” Dr. McLean said. “By dismantling such a system, we push the United States back, yet again, into a rear seat in global scientific leadership.”

The ocean observation system began operating in 2016 and was expected to continue for 25 years. Jim Edson, a marine meteorologist who led the Ocean Observatories Initiative, called it “the world’s most advanced continuously operating ocean observing systems.” When it was first proposed, the science foundation said it was important to have a long-term presence at scientifically important sites in the Atlantic and Pacific oceans.

There is a lot of writing on this. Just google it.

Since the "thing" is a total brain dead, moron. It stuns me that there are people advising him to do this. The devastation that he imposes on our country goes far beyond the writings of Project 2025.

I can't find an explanation to why?

A lovely photo of the two of you, Nicole.
The 'thing' is causing many problems and who know why he wants all this dismantled - the wonders of 'the thing'. Who know what he will do next. I recall one lady was pleased he got elected because she said - now freedom. Can't work that out!

And he thinks we’re nuts enough to want to become the 51st state! It is one thing to deny the climate crisis and disparage the scientists, but it is madness on top of madness to actively reverse scientific monitoring, or pay to decommission wind farms. Imagine the harm that will be done over the next two-and-a-half years. Since January last year I have visited Costa Rica, the UK, Colombia and The Bahamas and the reputation of the USA is in tatters in all of these countries. It will never recover.

As it is known, Trump administration's puppeteers don't want people to know the truth about how global warming is affecting marine ecosystems.

It just keeps on going and going in its destructive path.

...Nicole, I see a bit of a silver lining with all of Trumps madness. It may have an effect on the mid tirm elections!

If anyone can find an explanation to the "Why" of anything going on, please tell me. I absolutely don't understand this -- apart from taking whatever it costs to do this and putting it toward a stupid arch or reflecting pool or ballroom or Cuban takeover. I think it all comes to money -- this won't be the last stupid thing they do. The question is how many decades will it take to repair our country.

The man is a dick, honestly. :-(

Hope Mr M is doing better. Lovely photo of you both from the 90s <3

It's an old photo, thanks. I don't understand that lady's comment at all. "Freedom" ?????

This is simply disgraceful. He wants to make his mark on the world, and he certainly is.

I agree David. The US will never regain it's trust around the world. I hope that Canada is doing everything in it's power to stay out of the US.

This is so true, Giorgio.

DVArtist said...

It will not stop as long as the "thing" is around.

DVArtist said...

I hope so Tom. But the "thing" and maga have already gerrymandered several states, have restrictions on voting and and the "thing" has no problem bribing states for votes. If he lost, he would say it was rigged and find a way to stay in power.

Jeanie, I don't know if the US will ever recover from this.

DVArtist said...

Yes, he is.

Now I see your compliments for the blog... I am happy that you like it, I try because I like to write and I generally like beauty. Every morning I write something new and add music that I like to listen to, sometimes I also attach a picture :)) I wish you a nice evening ahead!

A very nice photo of you two back in the day. I remember reading an article that said, "everything the orange man touches, dies". That sure seems to be his motto. :(

Not only is Trump ignorant about science, but so many Republicans are too. Its really sad how far back he is sending us. Never mind that Kennedy as the head of health and human services is another insanity. I also went back and read your post from Sunday. I really enjoyed it. I learned a lot too. And just an FYI, I have to be on a jury tomorrow and Friday so I won't be joining FRiday face Off because I'm not sure how much time I'll have to comment. But I will be there for Sunday Sitar this week. Have a super end of your week. hugs-Erika

It is just amazing what a day will unfold some new catastrophe he has cooked up or his actions caused. I think though that his approval rating is very telling-people are getting it that he is completely whacked.

I had not heard of this, so I'm glad you brought it to my attention. tRump has destroyed so much already, I'm not sure we'll ever recover from him and his minions.

Forgot to ask if Mr. M is feeling better. You two look good together.

I love the photo of you and Mr M, it is lovely.
I agree with everything in your rant. I couldn't believe it first when I read that they're going to dismantle the deep ocean observation system. Why? I simply don't understand how anyone can still support this administration and so far, no one was able to explain it to me.
