Friday Face OFF 5/22/26

Welcome To Friday Face OFF (FFO)
This is the place to show off your face art.
You know, ANY type of face, nature, the face of a flower, photography, drawings, paintings, AI. There just needs to be a face in your blog post, a link back to my blog and please use the image below.
Thank you.
It's been a busy week. Mostly just everyday things. It makes me feel good that I can do the everyday things.
Now this next portrait I drew I have mixed feelings about. I see so many things wrong with it. If I feel this way, why show it?  Showing what we think may be not so great artwork is vital because it shatters the myth of perfection, promoting an authentic human connection to it.
This is my brother Tom. I have never seen him without a smile on his face.
I started drawing from the colored photo, then later flipped it to black n white.

I started in on his portrait.
It started like this.

Then to this. I think it was here I went to black n white.

I was shaking a white pen and ink landed on my paper. uuurrrggg...

I figured I could just draw over it.

I finished like this. I was putzing around with it too much and had to stop.

He has deep wrinkles by his left eye that I just couldn't get right. I lost the curve of his upper lip, and because of that he doesn't have a smiling face.  By this time was not into drawing his suit. The things I do like about it, it is dose look like my brother, I really like how his nose turned out and (wait for it) his hair and beard. Yes, I said hair. LOL
I would like a do over on this one. It was a total learning experience and I would like to get right.
Here are a few AI that I do like.

Here are a few features

That's it for now.
Be sure to join in for
Sunday in the Art Room

Joining with Gillena

Now it's time to show me your face.

...Nicole, so there's a Tom in your family too, such a nice portrait! I hope that you are doing well and enjoy your Memorial Day Weekend.

You really captured his eyes. I don't see the wrongs with this drawing. It's really well done. But you are right, it's good to show imperfections because every piece of art has some, depending on how you look at it. hugs-Erika

I think his hair and goatee turned out particularly well too! I find facial hair very difficult to draw and have it look realistic, but you succeeded! The glasses perched on top of his head look great too!

Your inner critic is hard at work, Nicole! Can you shut him up now? Your portrait of your brother turned out beautiful and I bet he would be more than happy with it. I do see a smile here - it's not only at his mouth, but in his eyes as well. What might have made this portrait more difficult is that the light is distributed on his face rather evenly and the shadows are not too pronounced.
I really like your AI images, especially #3 and #4. So well done.
Have a good weekend!

I know, we are our own worst critics, but I have to say, I think you captured your brother perfectly. You have learned to creat facial features and make them look real. I am jealous 😂 So, explain to me how he is black and white and his glasses are colored 😁 Anyway, to move on, I love your AI art. Do you create them with words or do you provide a picture? So it is Memorial Day Weekend and we have to celebrate it with our rediculous excuse for a President. But, do enjoy anyway :)

What a wonderful portrait, it looks fantastic. Of course, as an artist you can see the little annoyances that we can't see. Have a wonderful weekend, Nicole.

I like your portrait even if you don't. If you do it again you could compare them to see which you like the most.

Boa tarde minha querida amiga Nicole. O desenho do rosto, do seu irmão ficou maravilhoso. Os desenhos da IA também. Uma excelente tarde de sexta-feira e um grande abraço do seu amigo carioca.

We're always the most critical of our own work, aren't we? But you nailed it (again). But if you do a do-over, I hope you will show them both together!

Hi, Nicole. Running late, as usual, lol! Your drawing is amazing. I think we must be our own worst critics. I know I am when it comes to my own work. I always feel that something could be just a little better. Beautiful portraits all!

I think you did a fantastic job drawing your brother. What a sweet face he has.

Thank you for featuring me on FFO, Nicole. I am SO sorry I didn't play last week at FFO, but this is the first time I've been on the internet in a week. To be honest, I haven't been well, but I really don't want anyone knowing, so please don't pass that information on. I hope to be well enough to play this weekend, dear friend.

I would prefer you didn't publish this comment.

You indeed brought the image to life and smile appears like a sunshine 👌
He has an honest face and you were able to establish that too
