Saturday Garden boo hoo hoo

 Hi Everyone!
We had a nice day today so together
Mr. M. and I worked on the garden area. Ya know taking it all down. I'm heartbroken.
I knew I was going to be upset not having a garden this year, but I didn't think it would affect me so much.
We did all of this work on Friday.
Mr. M. did the heavy lifting and I got things ready for a dump run. This kind of work is so hard on Mr. M. with his health. But he is a trooper and never gives up.
He got all three raised beds dug up.

I didn't think galvanized rusted.

However, I was wrong.

I emptied totes that had poly, and starter pots in them. I will see if my neighbor wants the starter post but the poly will go to the recycle at the dump.

I washed and sterilized more 5 gallon containers that I will keep.

I want to save this piece of poly so I hung it up and will wash it tomorrow. It has a lot of pollen on it.

Mr. M. got all of the plants off of this platform and stacked lumber on it. It really sucks not having a garage or an outbuilding to store things.

All but 3 totes are going to the dump tomorrow.

After everything is cleared away we will weed wack and mow.
I guess that's it for now.
Hope you are having a nice Saturday.
It's supposed to be 73°F here today.

  2. All good things must end, I suppose. Difficult to handle, though.

  3. That was a lot of work. When you've got it looking the way you want, you'll be pleased.

  5. It is early morning as I write this and the sun isn't showing over the horizon yet. It is 63℉ now. Yesterday we got to at least 91 ℉ - it was hot. Hopefully we will have cooler days before summer really gets here.
I know how much you loved your garden. Perhaps things will be better and you can have one in the next couple of years.

  6. It’s hard work clearing a garden like that, especially when it holds so many memories. Still, you both got a lot done together, and that kind of steady teamwork counts for something. Hoping the next season brings you a new way to enjoy the space again.

  8. Easy to see Mr. M and you made a great job on your garden area.
    Have a nice weekend, Nicole.

  9. Oh, Nicole, this sounds so hard in every way -- physically and especially emotionally. Perhaps you can grow some smaller things in those big round five gallon bins. Tomatoes for sure, maybe cukes or peppers. It might not be enough for you to do your massive canning but tasty in the summer.

  10. Very sorry that you can't have your garden this year. You two definitely did so much work deconstructing.

  12. I have never had a garden. I have always lived in an apartment building. Gardens are beautiful, but there is a lot of work involved.

  13. I'm sorry Nicole. I really do understand because I know I would be heartbroken if I had to stop gardening. I hope you can do small pots.

  15. That was a big job. I'm sorry you are upset regarding your garden but there comes a time when it just gets too much when we age or for whatever reason but we do have to make things easier.
My husband has made our garden a little easier for us, we also have a son who is a landscape gardener and he along with some of his staff keep our place/garden in order, in that respect we are lucky. If he couldn't do it, we would have to pay some else instead of him. I'm only talking about the flower garden, not veggie one as we gave that away a long time ago.

  17. What a lot of heartbreaking and backbreaking work, Nicole. I'm so sorry that you won't have the joy of a garden this year. One day at a time, and maybe next year you can do something again. Meanwhile maybe a container pot of some smiling blooms? Love and hugs to you and Mr M. What a great team you two make. 🌺🍀🌺
