Spring Cleanig and getting old

 Hi Everyone!

Just a few short years ago I was able to deep clean my entire house in 2 days. The downstairs one day the upstairs the next. OMG! I hate being old. I now have to do one room a day. I started with the bathroom then today got most of the kitchen done. I just need to do a bit of painting. We will see how I feel tomorrow,
if I can do another room or not.

She looks a bit manic.
Mr M. tells me, quite often, I can't hear. I always have to have him turn up the TV and he does repeat himself to me. So, I have a hearing test in April. Ohhh, can't wait. The last time I had a hearing test was in 2012 and I was told I had the hearing of a youngster. Another thing about getting old.
So, do I really want to see this guy with two arms and hands on the same side???? EEEKKKK.
Well that's enough of my bitching about being old.
The nice things about being old........ Well when I think of something I will let you know. 😁
Have a nice Tuesday.
Nicole

  1. Age has a way of slowing the body and playing tricks on the senses, but you’re still moving forward—one room, one test, and one curious glance at that oddly formed figure at a time.

  2. I resisted getting hearing aids for the longest time, and when I had them initially I used them only for birding, so that I could hear birdsong again, a key aid to identification. High frequency songs have been lost forever, but many others are now enjoyed again. And slowly I have evolved and now wear my hearing aids all the time. At some point common sense takes over. Just think, if ever we meet, I’ll be able to hear everything you say!

  4. Yes, once we were able to many things in the one day. I'm older than you and I can do a few things each day, then I need a rest and do more the next day.
I had a hearing test in early March, result 10 out of 10, husband needs a hearing aid but he says he's not getting one, so I will continue to repeat myself.

  6. Unfortunately, aging brings about issues. Loss in hearing is one of the annoyances. I've suffered with this much of my life because of chronic ear infections as a child. I have severe loss in one ear and moderate to severe in the other. I use my Apple airpods to help with TV watching and listening to music. Conversation, especially in an open environment or different surroundings is a challenge. I'm not ready to get "hearing aids" because I'm afraid my ears will become too depend on the devices and without them my brain will not pick up sound at its present level. I believe that happens with our eyes and that's the main reason I won't get my glasses every year if there's only minor changes. Last year after my cataract surgery, I believe I was able to read small print better without glasses than I now without them. My brain has adjusted to the new prescription eyewear and so without the correction small print is blurry. The good thing is if you're still hanging around despite the hearing loss, bad eyes, stiff joints, and chronic problems then that's a blessing. Somedays, I'm sure it doesn't feel that way, but it is. I have a hearing test in May. I hope you get a good report on yours. And, if you may want to think about getting some Airpods or headphones while you watch TV. Take it easy, dear friend. xo ~CAAC

  14. Well now, I know exactly what you mean, things that once took a day somehow stretch out a bit more these days. Still, there’s something to be said for taking it one room at a time and not wearing yourself out in the process. As for the hearing, better to get it checked and keep on top of things, that’s just good sense if you ask me.

  17. I agree, getting old is not for the faint of heart. I have definitely become slower and not quite as mobile anymore (I can't run up stairs anymore). My morning routine includes some good yoga (finally some exercise that I really enjoy) to stay flexible and three mornings a week I add strength training for maintaining my muscle strength. I walk and I ride my bike - I think it's important to stay active and not become sedentary. When it comes to cleaning - one room at a time is fine, I have done that all my life.
One good thing about getting older - at least for me - is that I don't care that much about what others think of me, my clothes, my house and garden. It's quite liberating.

  20. I didn't notice the 2 arms on one side in the photo until you mentioned it. Oh my. Good luck with your cleaning. I need to get back to doing it. And good luck next month with the ear exam. My husband needs his checked too. But with him you never know if its his hearing or that he chooses not to hear. :) hugs-Erika

  21. My hearing test tells me I need hearing aids but until we straighten out what's up with my sinuses and all, I'm waiting. That said, I'm always saying "What was that?" to Rick!
