Friday Face OFF Portrait Challenge

Welcome To Friday Face OFF (FFO)
This is the place to show off your face art.
You know, ANY type of face, nature, the face of a flower, Photography, drawings, paintings. There just needs to be a face in your blog post.

This is it! FFO second Portrait Challenge.
Create a portrait of anyone! I'm very excited to see what all of you have to show today.
I have two that I created for this challenge.  Mr. M. likes this first one better. I do like it but I think I like the second one more because it was quite difficult for me, and I'm trying to improve. The second piece help me learn some things.  Let me know which one you like best.
These are images I found online. They were both in color and I manipulated them to black and white.
So here it goes.
#1 Mr. M's. choice.
This is the image I used.

I do love her quirky features.
Here is #2
I did change her eyes. In the photo she looks like a deer in headlights.
This is the larges paper I have and it wasn't long enough to get the bottom half of her. I tried but it made the entire drawing too small, especially her head. LOL
I just could not get her hand to sit correctly. In the photo there is a bit of her left hand showing. Yeah... that didn't work so I omitted it. Make strategic decisions is the fun part of art.

I can't wait to see who joined in for the challenge and I hope you had fun with this.
A few AI pieces.
It is challenge week.

Now for a few features.
He is way too cool.
Just chillin'

Seriously, this art just brings on the smiles.

Don't forget to join in for Sunday in the Art Room, "SITAR" Anything art. Oh and please don't forget to link back to my blog. Thanks

That's it for me.
Now it's time to show me your face

  1. Wow, I sure can not compete... I tried my best....

  2. That is difficult, I can't really decide which one I prefer. Actually neither because there is something in both that I like. I probably would have left out the arms/hands part in #2 and stopped just under her hair - that's my way of avoidance. I love how you drew the teeth in #1 - I find teeth difficult. Did Mr M tell you why he likes #1 better? Is it the woman or the way you drew her? (That might tell you something... :) ). Great art, Nicole, and I also like the AI images, especially #3. I'm glad you featured Debra's camel, I loved that one. Until Sunday!

  3. Hi there, this is Mr "Way too Cool" here. I didn't put original images for my portraits. Yes, "portraits" - there are five of them.
I prefer your second one with the eye changes. I know that I certainly made some conscious changes as I painted, drew, colored with crayons etc to make the images work as best I could. Those strategic decisions really show the feeling or heart of the artist, I think.
I have another portrait almost ready. I will use it next week.

  9. These are great Nicole. You even captured the sheen on the first lady's top. And isn't it amazing how easy it is to fill up a big page and not capture the entire example you are drawing. And you definitely got the shoulders not being lined up. Thanks for running this challenge. I'm off to see everyone else's pieces and and what they did with their drawings. hugs-Erika

  11. I love them both but my favorite is the first. You really nailed her. My portraits are older -- this month got too complicated. But fun to share and see the others, too!

  14. your faces capture the people totally. I enjoyed reading about a shared frustration of it not being exactly what you were going for too, I always feel that way, keeps me trying harder lol

  15. You are queen of art dear Nichole 🤗👍
I liked both photos and you did justice to both of them honestly 🥰
I am amazed by not just facial expressions but the way you followed all the lining and shading of their shirts is striking and truly impressive 🤗👌♥️
    Well done ♥️

  19. Oh, you are such a good artist and the detail you get in your portraits is mind boggling. How you have time to do all of your art and manage your blog at the same time is a mystery to me. But, don't get me wrong ... I love all of it and you have given me an excuse to do my art again, which I truly appreciate :) Plan to see you on "Sitar" !

  21. Dear Nicole, I wasn't sure if I was allowed to link to your blog today even without a painted portrait. Because once again, I haven't managed to follow your challenge... sorry! Unfortunately, it's not the time for painting or drawing right now. Since I saw that some others have linked without a drawing, I took the plunge too. Please remove it if it bothers you.

Your portraits turned out beautifully again. I wish I could do them as well as you! I'm still hoping that I'll manage to create a portrait in the not-too-distant future and show it to you – even if there isn't a challenge then. I also really like your AI-generated images again, and they fit the theme so well!
Hugs and all the best, Traude

  24. Your portraits are fantastic, both have so much character, and I love how you experimented with black and white to bring out different moods. It’s great to see the thought and learning you put into the second piece; those little challenges really make art grow.
