Can't help myself

Hi Everyone!

I wasn't going to post about this but it has been eating at me all week. I had a conversation with a, (no longer a friend), that simply knocked my socks off. Let's call her Sue. With all of my friends and family that love the "thing" in the white house, that subject is off limits. However, when speaking with Sue she told me that hitler was a very good man with his political ideas. Then, very quickly she said, " Well except for killing the Jews". I wanted to go through the phone and beat the hell out of her. Mr. M. heard the conversation, looked at me and shook his head no. Meaning she is an idiot, don't go there with her. I took a deep breath and said, "You need to learn history and don't call me again."

I really do try to keep an open mind but that..... NO effen way!

Sorry for the rant just needed to get it out.

Nicole

our blogs are good place for letting it out sometimes

I agree with you, Nicole. Genocide is a crime that defines anyone who commits it as irredeemably evil, regardless of any and all other considerations. There is no "yes, but . . . " concerning genocide.

...keep ranting and resisting.

Keep your distance, Nicole.
Actually, she needs to learn history. How can someone say Hitler was a good politician❓ His senseless invasions caused more than 70 million deaths: German army invaded Poland, France, Netherland, Denmark, Norway, Czechoslovakia, Russia, etc. ... not to mention of 1935 antisemitic and racist laws.

Post script: I'm glad to learn the English idiom "Knocked my socks off", which you wrote in your post 🙂 I have never heard it before. Thanks for that. Does it mean that something was extremely impressive or surprising ❓ Isn't it ❓ Its meaning is not deducible from the individual words.

Take care.

Totally and completely agree with you. The wider and more blatant and disgustingly obvious the divide the more baffled and disturbed I am by the minds of the followers. Beyond my comprehension.

Good for you. There's no coming back from what she said.

I may glad that you terminated your relationship with this person. When I hear rhetoric of this kind, it helps me understand who people gravitate to Trump. It is beyond human comprehension that people can seriously consider Hitler in a favourable light of any kind.

Hitler was not a good man period. You can't have good political ideas then try to eliminate an entire culture of people and have the goal of world domination. He was an evil man. Sometimes you gotta vent to let go.

"just needed to get it out" ... and you did ... blogs are often a good place to have a rant!

Take care Nicole and may the end of the week be good for you.

Your (ex)friend needs to learn about Hitler. I'm glad you spoke your mind too. Her opinions are just plain ignorant.

Your Hubby is a wise man - it is not worth discussing such nonsense. And it urges me to say that Hitler was an Austrian "that" (I cannot even write "who") only gained German citizenship by a fool (from this very city). But he was Austrian and made Germans look very, very bad. And no, some people like the blob in your White House and the coward in Russia do not learn from history but go right into the Austrian´s footsteps.

Oh goodness me, in my book you did the right thing. Evil person he was, so very evil.

I try to avoid talking politics. But I can't imagine that some folks even have a clue what happened in Hitler's regime.

Oh my...words can't even express it. It's really hard to know what to say to someone like that. I guess they are blank in the head.

Dear Nicole, are you familiar with the saying (commonly used in German language) "God, please let brains rain down!"?
Sometimes it seems to me that instead "God (or who else?)" has rained stupidity and heartblindness down on lots of humans. How else can it be explained that more and more of these absurdities are being spread, and more and more truly evil people are rising to power, or truly evil people are being declared "not so evil after all"...?????
Chin up, you reacted well! Hugs, and see you tomorrow at FFO!

I understand your reaction. It would have been mine. I applaud your husband for his wisdom and you for heeding it. I love what you said to her. Perfect. But I still will never understand why some feel this way.

Nicole, I am genuinely sorry you had to deal with that. Honestly, there is wisdom in knowing exactly where to draw the line and you drew it perfectly. It takes real moral courage to protect your peace and your values like that. You absolutely did the right thing.

If you need a distraction from all that, I just hit publish on a new post on my end. Hope you have a much better, calmer week.

I do not write political ideas on the blogland, Nicole, but please do not talk with her again. She is stupid.

Good for you, Nicole! That's too far! I try to keep an open mind and accept people's different points-of view, but there are some lines that can't be crossed for me. Kudos to you for having the gumption to stand up!
