Friday Face OFF 9/19/25

Welcome To Friday Face OFF (FFO)
This is the place to show off your face art.

Another reminder. If you don't see your blog on my sidebar please let me know. Blogger keeps deleting them.

This week I didn't have time to draw. Here are some older pieces.
She lives in Florida now.

I really don't remember when I drew this. I always liked her face and hair.

This one I did for a campaign to promote awareness and money for abused kids.
It was a very long time ago.

Many years ago I was commissioned to draw this doll. It never occurred to me to say no. 2 sisters had their mother's old doll and wanted a drawing of it.
It started like this. Photos of the doll and a sketch.
There is a lot of lace on the dress. I had never drawn lace before. But I remember that my Nan told me there are some things that you just indicate. The human eye will do the rest. So that's what I did.
The girls were very happy with it. I felt like I really accomplished something.

Looking at this old art pieces I came across and old photo.
That's me standing in the back with my dad, my brothers, Steve, Tom and Pat and the little cutie with the big smile is my daughter. AK. in the 80's

Now let's look at some features.

Iris. Now if you want to read an entertaining blog, with great art, funnies, stories of life of Iris and Ingo they you must visit Iris.

Vivian Foo creates incredible art. She is on FB, I don't know if you need an count to see her art. But it's always interesting and creative.

Next up is Jeanie. There is always fun and excitement happening over there. Lots of art, trips, and just fun loving people.
Now it's your turn to show me your face.

  15. It's a delight to see your art, Nicole! From the compelling faces to the exquisite doll. What excellent advice your Nan gave you about drawing. I will remember that, which I hadn't heard before. The photo of you with your father, brother', and daughter is wonderful. It radiates with love. I really enjoy Iris's and Jeanie's blogs, and now that I have more time, I want to become regular with visiting them again. That multimedia piece by Vivian Foo is wonderful! Have a relaxing weekend! ❤️

  17. I like the first face the best. I have read that capturing the expressive nature of a face is difficult for an artist. But, you do it so well!

  22. You did a fabulous job on the doll sketch. My own experience is what your Nan told you about indications in your artwork, that the eye fills it in. I think the lace looks great! Your old face illustrations are amazing. The one you did to promote awareness and money for abused kids is really creepy. I bet it helped to raise money to keep horrible people like the woman away from those who can't help themselves. I can't understand how anyone can hurt a child or a woman for that matter but it's a sad reality that it happens. This coming Friday, I will join in with the FFO community. Thanks for hosting and highlighting such wonderful talent!

  23. Hi Nicole! Thank you for adding my blog to your sidebar. I LOVE that portrait you did of the doll, and totally agree with your Nan. That's a precious picture of you and your family. I posted a picture of my wife and I when we were engaged back in the 90's. Old family pictures are truly priceless. Happy FFO!
