Hi Everyone!
I'm not sure what animal did this. I can't find any tracks or scat. For those of you who don't know I used to teach remote living and tracking. So, I know what I'm looking for. I knew not to let my string beans grow so tall. I should have pruned them. There were some very long ready to harvest beans at the top. We decided to get them the next day. Well wrong decision.
The next morning I woke to this.
This grow bag is heavy so what ever knocked it over was big. Maybe a deer but I didn't see any scat at all. A racoon that climbed up and tilted it over? No more string beans, but I harvested more than 20lbs of beans this year, so I really can't complain.
We got a long hard rain last night so I thought I better harvest more cucumbers and yellow squash.
It has been a bumper crop for cucs this year. And why summer squash is in abundance this late in the season is beyond me, but I will take it.
I have so much squash and cucs in the frige I will have to can it up this week. Too much for us to eat and all of the neighbors I share with are gone on vacation.
Right now I have canning jars in the dishwasher. It's time to make ghee. I was going to can corn today but it will have to wait until Tuesday.
That's if for now. I hope all of you are having a great Sunday.
Nicole

I guess the animal decided to pick them for you. It sounds like you had a great and productive year with your garden. Have a wonderful new week.
Sunday is pretty great here today. ✔️
Sorry critters got to your beans but you certainly have canned a lot ~ Hope you had a good Sunday ~ hugs,

Despite the bean mystery, it seems like your garden is still treating you to a generous harvest and your pantry will be all the richer for it
Maybe raccoons? It does look like your garden is still producing well. I'll be home in 2 days and I can't wait to see how mine stood up with 10 days of no watering. Happy new week. hugs-Erika
...when I was in nursery business we spends hours standing up plants!
My guess would be something like a raccoon that could climb to the top to eat them all--whether upright or tipped over--and just walk away along the top of the fence. Glad you got a whole lot of them before the critter did. ;)
Sorry the (whatever) got your beans, but you have done amazingly well this year.
I have raccoons that get into my herbs, but whatever got into your beans it must have been big. Looks like you have a bumper crop elsewhere, though.
Oh, how sad! But all in all a good year I´d say!
If you solve the mystery we’d all be interested in knowing.
Yikes. You're going to be busy in the kitchen! I'm with the Raccoon voters but who knows? More wildlife is moving around these days.
WoW, que buenos pepinos, que ricos. 🤤 Besitos
Hello Nicole! sorry about your beans! Your veggies always look so good. Wish I was your neighbour. Have a lovely week and happy Autumn!
